Acute Mountain sickness - remedy?

I will be cycling in the himalayas in May and wanted to ask if there were any remedies for AMS, or precautionary measures which can be taken.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I get acute mountain sickness above 12000 feet. Chewing a raw garlic is very helpful.

Carcinosin is another remedy I heard (Just heard but never used it). May be passkey will let us know.

Garlic will neutralise many remedies [ like camphor ] but is useful for many conditions.

Carsinosin is only applicable if the person needs it as remedy for personal conditions.

Necessary items are ;- bluey white sclerotics when baby . Moles, acne, family history of cancer . Inflammatory illness when young. Olive tinted skin that tans very easily.
Given these items it will cure not only mountain sickness but almost anything else.

As we are talking altitude here and mercury is used to measure altitude - perhaps that would be worth a look ?.

You need to get a Materia Medica and list the different symptoms of the various remedies you take to guide your choices. One cannot just take something without a thought-out reason.

Remember, take least dosage and when better, stop.

3 pellets of the larger balls is one dose. 5 or 6 of the little granuels is one dose.

When you purchase your remedies try to get the smallest granuels (#10) as this will give you much more remedy in the bottle to take with you.
-------------------

COCA would be good, from the Incas. Raw it is for shaman's use. Made up Homeopathic it is not dangerous.

APIS M. swift up and down elevations may cause swelling in the inner ear=pain. One dose relieves this. Also insect bites.

Add LEDUM to Apis in the event there is a serious bite of scorpion or spider, other than bee. Unknown allergic swellings. May be life-threatening.

ARNICA, in the event of a fall and there is trauma to the body. Many more symptoms. Take some ace bandages. Tube of Arnica cream for areas of trauma or sore muscles. Not for open sores.

ARSENICUM ALBUM, hayfever, burning restlessness. Fever, exhaustion with restlessness, possible hallucinations of smell and sight.

BELLADONNA, high fever with red cheeks and ears, very hot but covers up. Dry mouth and throat and nose, not thirsty. Stomach hurts. Stiff neck. Can't sleep. Infection ears and throat.

CARBO VEG. stomach problems and diarrhea. Hot but flings covers off. cholera, typhoid type stomach distress.

When you get to the city where you intend to begin, ask around for the remedy best for the local flora. There will always be a local, like here in the western US, it is Juniper. It tosses pollen twice yearly and everyone is uncomfortable.

Hope this helps you plan and choose.

Blessings on your good trip. Sabra

thanks Sabra fro your reply. One of my neighbours is a homeopath and she is going to give me a "kit" to take. I was curious to see what you would all suggest. The only name I remembered that she mentioned was Coca which obviously comes from the Coca plant which al lteh natives chew on - the leaves taht is, hehe. It's also possible to get Coca leaf tea which is often used in high mountaineering.
Thanks for your good wishes for my trip.

I'll let you know what I used and how well it worked for me, when I get back at the end of May.
