Please help with 8 mo. sleeping

I have an 8 month old son who does not sleep well. he naps two to three times a day for 45minutes-2+hrs however I'm more concerned about his night time sleeping. He 'sleeps' about 10 hours a night however during that time wakes at least 4 times. He usually wakes within the first 90 minutes of first going to sleep, then will have his longest block 2-4 hours and then wakes every 1-2 hours after that. We've tried valerium root but it seems to have no effect. We know energetically he's very busy in his dream time so we're helping on that front too. Any suggestions you can offer is greatly appreciated.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I have many adult patients who have used Arnica 30c in the Wet dose who have confirmed that they experienced an unusually deep sleep shortly after they took their first dose.

I must admit that I have never prescribed Arnica for a baby but I do not think that there could be any harm in giving him just one teaspoonful of the remedy water after his last feed and you can observe his response which you will please report on this Forum.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in a 5ml Ethanol pack also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard before you take a capfull which is the dose. Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this shaking must be done every time before a capful of the bottle is sipped as directed.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I'm looking at the online ordering and it has several potency options however none of which are 5ml. Can you suggest an appropriate one?

I can see that getting the Liquid Dilution in Ethanol may be a problem for you.

You can get the standard Dry pellets instead as we still are at the experimental stage in treating your little boy with the same remedy that has helped adults.

You will use 5 pellets Arnica 30c in the 500ml spring water and we can evaluate his response which I hope will be positive.

Please remember that babies have their own individual sleeping patterns which varies with their growth. You confirmed that 'He 'sleeps' about 10 hours a night however during that time wakes at least 4 times.' This can be considered as normal with or without the Arnica.

Thanks so much. I think for now I'm going to hold off on the Arnica. I'm a bit reluctant since I can't seem to find any experiences with it and babies. So for now I'll hold off but just may revisit the idea in the future. Again thanks for your help!

Please tell me how that works for you because I too have a 1 year old very restless- wakes up a lot thru the night. Mine doesn't even nap very well. Mine sleeps for about 11 hours in the night, but exactly the same pattern.

hi Karinamom -- we're going to try Serenite Jr. from Native Remedies (http://www.nativeremedies.com/products/serenitejr-childrens-.... It has coffea in it. Intuitively it feels like the best option for now. We should receive it by Wednesday. I'll try to post and let you know or you can always send along your email address and I can update you that way too. I look forward to the possibility of getting a little more sleep for all of us soon! :)

Thanks. I've tried those combinations before (like hylands..) but I think the potencies are too low.. they dont seem to work.

I'll try the coffea. If i have the pellets of coffea, how many pellets do i give a 1 year old? In liquid, i have the coffea 30. Also what time should i give it to her? She goes to bed by 8 pm.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your experience. Will you let me know the coffea works for you?

Thanks!

Sure thing. My son was a very restless sleeper too.. for the longest time! Until the age of 2.. still woke up at night, looking for mom and dad. Finally on a whim, i tried coffea 30, one dose at night for 4 nights. (this was every night), and the first night he woke up once, but the rest of the three nights, he slept soundly. When I stopped, he continued to sleep soundly for months after that. And then again restlessness, to which I repeated the same. He's 3 and a half now, and sleep thru the night unless ill.
Hope that info helps. Will let you know about the coffea 200.

Thanks for the info Karinamom! I may have to try the cofea 30 to start since last night the Serenite Jr. blend didn't have any affect. We'll see how tonight goes but i'm not holding out much hope. Keep me posted on the 200 as well. always good to know and have options.

I still have not tried the coffea 200, the coffea 30 didn't do much either. But I did post a thread about my daughter's constitution, and was looking more for a constitutional remedy, hoping that would help her sleep too! She's very clingy to me, fears strangers and new environments. A doc suggested pulsatilla 30C so I've actually tried that for a couple of nights. Today is night 3. Her sleep improved from day 1. Not that she slept thru the night... (she is still breastfed), but woke up twice just to nurse and go back to sleep- which has been good for me!
I don't expect her to sleep 'thru' the night, my older son only starting sleeping thru the night once he was completely weaned at 21 months- but it did help her rest thru in between feeds.

I still am considering the coffea 200, perhaps sometime later if she returns to being restless.
Hope that info helps.
Keep me posted.

So helpful! I'm nursing as well and we cosleep. And I'd be thrilled with only two wakings a night! My son is a bit cautious in public and with new environments and clingy as well. At home it's the complete opposite and doesn't stop for a moment. I may try the coffea 30 and see if it has any affect. I so appreciate your honesty in sharing your experience. thank you!

No reason to thank me. I have 2 kids, 2 years apart, both breastfed for a very long time, so I feel i haven't slept in *years*. I'm tired, achy, and tired lol..

That is my post, read it, i hope it helps. From the little I've learnt, for children, constitutional remedies work very fast, and help a variety of their issues which are happening simultaneously. Perhaps add more detail about your kid... and maybe you can try another med if the coffea doesn't work.

Goodluck...
