The ABC Homeopathy Forum
4 year old sleep issues and ADHD
I am completely new to all of this. My son has ADHD but what I need help with the most is his sleep. He has never slept well. Has trouble falling asleep but mainly staying asleep. He wakes multiple times a night with bad dreams or just wakes for no reason. He is extremely restless in his sleep therefore the sleep quality is poor. He shouts things out in his sleep that happened in his day. His sister stole a toy or 'No Mommy' or just random things. It's like he can't shut his brain off at night. He cries out in his sleep alot. He has had night terrors as well but I can tell the difference between a night terror and a bad dream. The other issue I am having with him is his impulsive behaviour. He is constantly hurting kids at school. Hitting, kicking, pushing but it is never out of anger or being mean. He simply just will be sitting there and then just sort of hit a kid on the arm without thinking about it. He doesn't know why he does it but it's obvious it's impulsive and not premeditative. It's getting him into a lot of trouble. He can't sit still very long. He gets all floppy on the carpet in Kindergarten and that's when it happens.
Other than that he is a bright, funny, loving 4 year old. He is curious and inquisitive and one on one he can be really great. It's when he gets with a bunch of people or overly excited about something that he acts out. He is not the best listener in the world either. He is very stubborn.
Any suggestions of homeopathic remedies especially for the sleep. I really don't want to medicate him with harsh drugs or anything. I would like to try some natural things first.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Sleep disorders and bad dreams are closely related to digestive trouble. Several research has proven it. To strengthern digestive organs and improve nervous strength, two medicines I give my patients and I have excellent success. This is very safe for children of 4 years.
BELLIS PER 30, morning and evening, in wet dose.
KALI BROMATUM 6x, 2 tablets, before putting him to sleep. This is a gift to mankind.
After giving these two medicines for 2 weeks, write back. I will give you medicines for ADHD which again has high success rate.
For general instructions, please see my Profile. That has the explanation for wet dose too.

GUIDELINES FOR GIVING HOMOEOPATHIC CASE INFORMATION
It is important to describe all your problems in as much detail as you are able. One word answers and short sentences are not particularly helpful. Discuss each problem one at a time, providing (as a minimum level of detail) the following information.
1. What exactly happens?
2. Describe all sensations and pains. Each pain or sensation should be described in such a way that allows us to imagine having the same pain.
3. What causes the problem to get worse after it has started occurring?
4. What creates some relief for the problem?
5. What triggers the problem into occuring?
6. What time of the day or night does the problem occur?
7. When did the problem start? What was happening in your life at that time? Did some specific event or treatment take place just before the problem started?
Move from one problem to the next, doing the same thing. IT IS VITAL THAT YOU GIVE A COMPLETE PICTURE OF YOUR HEALTH BY PROVIDING ALL PROBLEMS YOU HAVE, EVEN IF NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN ONE, AND EVEN IF YOU CONSIDER IT OF LESS IMPORTANCE.
As well as this, please describe any traumatic indicidents that have taken place in your life. Discuss anything that has had a lasting impact on you mentally, emotionally or physically.
Discuss the way that you manage or deal with your problems, or any problems that occur in your life.
Discuss any patterns you have noticed in your behavior.
Discuss any part of your life where you feel stuck or unable to change and grow.
Describe your childhood and the kind of environment you grew up in, with reference to your relationships with your family, your school experiences, and any serious childhood diseases.
If your earlier discussions have not mentioned these already, please describe:
1. The specific foods that you crave (not just like) or hate
2. The specific drinks that you crave or hate
3. What your sleep is like
4. How the weather and the temperature affects you
5. What kinds of things in the environment you are particularly sensitive to
6. What your general level of energy is like
7. What your level of sexual energy or desire is like
Children's Questions:
1. What occured to the mother during pregnancy - new symptoms, illnesses, medical treatments, emotional stresses.
2. What problems occured during the birth?
3. What was happening in the mother's life around the time of conception?
4. What illnesses did both parents have for the 5 years or so preceding conception?
5. Describe the following features of the child
a) Body type and build
b) Skin colour and texture
c) Areas of the body tends to perspire on
d) Odour of sweat, body, stool, flatus, urine
e) Colour of stool, urine, sweat
6. Give any reactions to vaccines or medical drugs.

I am sorry you need so many information to make a homeopathic prescription.
Things advanced even in 1900, like J H Clarke (regarded as the best prescriber in the world during his time), writing PRESCRIBER, where he shows how to prescribe based on few symptoms. Without brining huge success, he would not have written this.
If you are open to learn from such approach, I request you to read Dr. Eli G Jones's DEFINITE MEDICINE and it will help you to understand why he titled this way.
You seem to stuck with old principles. Disease based Homeopathic prescriptions are proven world wide already and is very beneficial. Banerji's one medicine (Ruta 6 and Calc Phos alternate) for all brain tumor has brought 1000s of cures, when any constitution based prescribers would not have even cured 10% of this.
Prescribers in this forum like Joe has cured more patients with Arnica, than all other old style prescribers in the forum, who ask 100 symptoms and end up with this remedy, then that remedy, etc, etc.... till then end up with specific remedies.
I also suggest you to be open to learn from other master prescribers like Sharma, Pankaj, ... who learned advancements.

I am sorry too brisbanehomoeopath, your interference here, in my opinion, is inappropriate when a prescription by Reva V. is already given. This will create confusion.
Again, I can assure you, this patient will run away as on so many other threads where you have asked tons of questions and sometimes when patient answers you run away?
Especially when childern are involved one must be kind and must give less pain relating to questions and study of homoeopathy suggestion to patient.
In my opinion, the practitioner must show full confidence in his/her prescription, must not make weak statements and must manage his case in a timely manner.
May God bless you?
Regards
Nawaz

Actually patients run away because of all the CONFLICT when people start sniping at each other and insulting. How petty we must all look.
I have treated enough real life patients in clinical situations over many years to know that patients ENJOY detailed case taking. It is a refreshing change for them from the indifferent and careless haste of orthodox medicine. Why on earth would I want to copy them?
Why should we spend time taking alot of information? Why not just rattle off one remedy after another, dazzling the uninformed patient with our speed and apparent wide knowledge of materia medica?
There are lots of reasons why spending time with the patient is valuable.
1. It shows that you are interested and that you care. Often this is one of the first times many of the people I see feel listened to. I can establish a connection with them, a relationship, which will foster trust and confidence. You cannot do that in a few minutes with few or no questions and and a 5 minute conversation.
2. It allows you to dig for hidden things. Many people keep the truth about their troubles out of sight - abuse especially sexual, violence, addictions, criminal activities. No-one is going to reveal this unless you try to coax it out of them. Often the most valuable information is the information they DON'T want to give you.
3. Detailed questioning also allows you to examine the pattern of their illness over the years, in order to establish the dominant miasm in the case. A detailed history is often vital to properly observe the miasm, which will have shown itself in various forms over those years, and cannot be seen in its full form without examining each event in their life.
4 You may need to document the development of their disease in order to understand what order symptoms should disappear in. It is pointless having Direction of Cure if you do not know what things occurred in the past, even if it is just the recent past in an acute.
5. Not only that but particular remedies can appear differently over a person's life - Conium can start very expressive but focussed on material things, only appearing hard and indifferent later on. Staph may appear very suppressed early on in response to someone's domination, but eventually become uncontrollably angry and even violent. The evolution of a remedy state often can only be found by getting a history of the person's suffering. Even in the provings things tend to follow a specific order, and this order can help choose a remedy with more precision.
6. I can make a prescription with confidence, and stick to it. How many times do I see people saying 'take this then this then this then this'? And when the patient experiences a return of old symptoms or an aggravation of current symptoms, rather than waiting they jump in with new remedies, more remedies. This shows that they do not trust their own judgement. When I take time to make the choice, armed with as much information as I can feasibly gather, I will wait and persist through these events with frequent good results.
My patients almost to a man (or woman) will state that the care I take in understanding them, the space I give them to express themselves, the effort I put in to really listening to them and then using that information to make a careful and confident choice, is the REASON they come to see me. They are not there to get a product as fast as possible. They have already done the rounds of those kinds of practitioners - the doctors, specialists, psuedohomoeopaths, naturopaths, chiropracters etc. They WANT someone to work it out, really figure out what the problem is.
You can criticize it all you want, but you are very out of touch with real life patients if you think that pushing them out the door as fast as possible is what they come to homoeopathy for. That is one of the very reasons they are running AWAY from orthodox medicine.
Why copy one of the worst aspects of it?
And for your information I have worked in clinics where we see one patient very 10 mins, it is possible to get a lot of information in that short space of time. However, success rates remain low - 10-20% for chronic cases if you are very good. When I am able to take my time with patients (1-2 hours) success rates will climb 60-70%, and this same experience is expressed by all my colleagues here.
Be precise, be careful, establish a rapport, show compassion, listen carefully, earn their trust, explain carefully what you are doing and what they can expect - you cannot do this in 5-10 minutes and by simply naming a remedy and sending them on their way.
How can you know someone from a few words, from asking no questions? You cannot.
I am one of the few people here who bothers to educate visitors, who treats them with enough respect to explain fully what I do and answer all their questions about homoeopathic philosophy. I assure you, I am not the one creating confusion. My answers remain consistent and in line with established proven homoeopathic procedures.
Throwing a remedy at a patient without any justification except 'I just know this, trust me' or'I have this special knowledge that allows me to make prescriptions unlike any other' - what power does that give them do you think?

Brisbane,
I respect your care you want to offer to the patients. I guess, you still dont get where the trouble lies.
If your success rate is 10% for short time spent, you cannot assume the same for others. If you do so, it only shows our ignorance. I know brilliant Homeopaths who can nail down to the right remedy in 2 minutes. Thier success rate is not any where close to what you can even immagine. You have no rights to comment on thier approach, based on your experience.
If you still cannot get it, I have no options.
