bursitis on left heel

I have been having a swelling at the left heel which the doctors call bursitis. They suggested that I should use a high heel footware for a few months and it would get healed. But even with a high heel footware, it has not given me relief even after six months.
Can some expert suggest a remedy?

Thanks - cr
