heartburn/acid reflux

I'm a 30-year-old, 5'4', 145lbs woman of Indian descent.

I've been suffering from heartburn for the last month.

It started out like a persistent recurring stomach ache in the center of my stomach. The pain was like a dull ache that wouldn't go away.

I thought that it might be reaction to the changes I'd made in my diet. I'd started eating bananas which used to give me heartburn when I was a teenager but I hadn't suffered from that for a long time so I didn't worry about it when I started eating them again. I also added lots of raw seeds and nuts and I thought maybe I was reacting to them although I've never reacted to nuts or seeds before.

When I noticed the stomach aches I stopped eating bananas and seeds but the stomach pain was still happening. It started to get worse with really bad bloating and the pain travelled up my stomach to just below my breastbone. It felt like a lot of pressure and pain and I didn't know what was wrong.

I went to a doctor and she diagnosed it as heartburn after pressing around on my stomach and seeing that it was centered up my esophagus.

She said to take prilosec and avoid fatty foods but I don't want to just treat the symptoms. I want to cure the cause of problem and I don't want to take medicines like prilosec which will give me side effects and might even make the heartburn worse.

I'm active but I don't exercise everyday. I sleep 7 hours every night and wake up naturally after that time. I'm usually energetic and active. I'm a writer so I spend a lot of time at my computer working.

I do get stressed out but not in a way that I show it. I usually work through my stress and find ways to relax like massage and yoga. I've had back problems caused by stress and working on a computer and I see a chiropractor for that. That's the only healthy problem I've had for years until this acid reflux now. I don't take any medications except ibuprofen once a month for period pain.

I'm vegetarian and always have been. I eat lots of salads and vegetables and protein and complex carbohydrates. I have a bowel movement every day so I'm not constipated or suffering from diarrhea.

I try hard to be healthy so I want to deal with this acid reflux as soon as possible. I've tried to add as many details about myself as possible that can aid in prescribing dosage so I'm really sorry if I've bored you. If there's anything else you need to know then please do tell me.

Does anyone know what I should take and how?

Wow, thanks so much for your advice! I'll get those medications and try it and then let you know how it goes.

Again, thanks so much! I'm hopeful that this will make things better.

Hi, I wanted some more advice. I got the two medications that were recommended to me here but I wasn't able to obtain the exact strength recommended. I got lycopodium clavatum 200ck and magnesia phosphorica 8x.

I haven't taken them yet because I didn't want to take the wrong dose and I was also trying a different diet to see if that helped.

I noticed that whenever I ate yogurt or vinegar I would get the tummy aches so I stopped eating them. That helped and for a month I didn't have any problems but then I noticed the stomach aches coming back. I pinpointed that it was rice and salads that were causing the problem and stopped eating them and the tummy aches stopped. However, I do still feel a burning in my upper stomach, lower chest area so I know the problem hasn't gone away. I think I should try the homeopathic remedies to try to solve the problem.

So how should I take them and in what dose?

Also, my weight is slightly less now. I'm 139lbs instead of 145lbs.

One other thing is that I suffer from menstrual pain each month and heard that magnesia was good for that. How should I take it in addition to taking it for my heartburn? Or should I not do that?

Thanks for the help!

Please take the remedies as suggested and report back. 200 ck and c are same. 6x and 8x are also much same.

I've been taking the magnesium as directed and have since had stomach aches and bloating and some burning sensations about 3 or 4 times in this last two weeks. Should I continue to take the magnesium or change to something else? it's been over 15 days that I've been taking it but I missed a dose on 2 of the days so I'm still taking it.

What should I do now?

So before taking the remedy it was continuous and during 15 day period it happened only 3-4 times?

Whether you observed any changes at your mind level like less stress etc?

kadwa last decade
No, before taking the remedy I would get the symptoms maybe once or twice a week according to my stress. It wasn't everyday because I'd changed my diet to reduce the acidity. But since taking the remedy I've had the symptoms several more times but my stress hasn't increased.

What should I do now? Continue taking or switch to something else?

j_joshi last decade
Please don't take any remedy for 15 days and report back.

Ok, I didn't take anything yesterday so I'll continue this way and let you know what happens. I didn't get any symptoms yesterday.

I've not been taking anything for the last three days like you said and both yesterday and the day before I had stomach aches. I started to get worried and thought maybe I should take some bicarbonate of soda to reduce the acid because I don't want to cause more damage to the inside of my stomach.

Also, I'm going traveling out of the country for the month of Feb. Should I buy any homeopathic remedies for heartburn to use while I'm traveling? I won't have time to stop and get anything while traveling so I think I should but I don't know what.

Thank you for your help.

Shall I start taking these two after the 15 days of taking nothing is over? Or shall I start them now?

I'll definitely travel with all four and hopefully try to use the internet when I get a chance although I doubt I'll have much access.

j_joshi last decade
If you have pain, you may start the second plan right now.

kadwa last decade
Ok, I've ordered them and are waiting for them to come in soon.

Thank you!
