Acute Sinusitis

Hello,

I'd really appreciate your advice on acute sinusitis. It occurred for the first time in my life. I'm 36, female, mother of 2.

It started 2 weeks ago as blocked and running nose (thik-yellowish) plus toothache (left up behind). I treated only the gums (bleeding painful gums, now ok, except one tooth - exactly on the spot of the left maxillary sinus).

Three days ago terrible pain in maxillary sinus appears - left side only, under the eye (feels like the bone is in pain).

Other symptoms:
- worse when shaking head (feels like terrible toothache on the left)
- worse on stooping
- worse lying down
- worse outside in cold air
- worse afternoon (on mornings almost ok)
- better with some pressure on the spot under the eye
- better with sth warm on the spot of maxillary sinus
- nose discharge now rusty, pus, too thick to run, relieve on blowing nose
- nose discharge inside the house almost stops, when out in air it runs

Other:
- l like sweet and salty
- vegetarian for more than 20 yrs
- positive outlook on life
- like sleeping on tummy
- not too tall, not too short, just right figure
- often stiff neck (usually left side)
- slight strabismus (left eye) since early childhood

Looking forward to your advice. Thank you very much! Regards from Slovenia,
V.

Treatment of Catarrh and Colds and 'Sinusitis'

The therapy that has helped many patients who were victims of Catarrh for a long time with sneezing and coryza is:

Eupatoriium Perfoliatum 200c in the Wet dose taken thrice daily for 3 days and changed to just TWICE WEEKLY thereafter.

Patients have reported that their sneezing has abated overnight with this therapy which is not prescribed for this ailment in the classical Homeopathic textbooks.

Those who have been catching colds have reported that their resistance to colds has improved in a manner that they considered as unbelievable.

It is essential that at the first signs of a cold, the patient takes this remedy in the Wet dose every 3 hours to ensure that the virus is aborted.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in the Liquid pack in Alcohol, also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard at least 6 times before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this enhances the effect of the remedy on the user.

I find it strange that at age 62, you had DNS surgery as this condition presents from a very young age.

I would like to have more data on the background of your case on when you first noticed that you were unable to breathe freely and how you coped throughout your life and what drugs, if any were prescribed by your ENT surgeon.

You stated:
'The whole chest becomes tight, chest and neck muscles pains”
Have you been diagnosed with Asthma?

What is your height and weight?
Do you exercise?

Also:

Are you able to breathe freely without obstruction today, in an airconditioned room?

Thank you very much for prompt response. I had DNS since age of 10 years and was been advised for surgery but due to lack of resources it was not been treated and using anti allergy (Zyrtec 10mg on SOS basis) for some relief and pulling-on my life but three years back it troubled me a lot. Asthma never been diagnosed, I do not smoke/drink and do not exercise except brisk walking when I get time (not regular) My height 5 feet 7 inches weight 75 kg, complexion fair.Even in air-condition room I can not breath freely from nose however it's better than out-side, sleep well and breath from nose and mouth 50-50%. Best Regards

You present a very difficult case to me for which I do not know the answer. The drug Zyrtec is an antihistamine and I hope that you did not take it for any long period as the side effects can be read on the www under side effects.

I can think of Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200c in the Wet dose which may help you. Take it twice daily and report your response in 24 hours. Read my prescription on this thread dated December 17 2012.

Do you have any Gastric problems? Rflux?

Joe De Livera 9 years ago
Thank you, I will buy it in a day or two. Yes I do have some GERD problem which I treat by drinking plenty of water or with husk. Yes Zyrtec is antihistamine but if anyone who do not have any possibility, what he will do for his health, he will choose a short-cut in the life to get temporary relief and continue struggling in life. I consulted another surgeon he said that during DNS surgery the glands inside the upper portion of nose has been removed which treat the air according to the body temperature and pass the air in the lungs. Now because that glands have been removed so I am getting direct air passing through nose and going in the lungs and the whole passage has become hypersensitive which is troubling me while I go out in hot or cold weather. Regards

I shall treat you for GERD below. You can use this therapy with the Eupat Perf I prescribed in my last post.

Report progress in 48 hours after taking all the remedies prescribed.

It is very likely that you suffer from Hyperacidity or Gastritis, aka GERD (Gastro Esophagal Reflux Disease) and I shall copy my default therapy that has helped hundreds of patients to overcome this disease for which doctors usually prescribe PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) drugs which are dangerous and can cause many other more serious problem when used in the long term.

You will hopefully discover that my therapy aka 'Joepathy' will help you within 24 hours after you have taken your first dose after a meal.

The remedies you will order are as follows:

Nat Phos 6x dose 3-4 tablets taken immediately after each of 2 meals.
This remedy accelerates the passage of food down the gut and prevents the formation of acid which would otherwise reflux causing GERD.

Arnica 30c in the Wet dose taken twice daily.
This remedy works to repair the damaged Esophagus which has metastasised to resemble the gut to deal with the Hcl refluxed into it causing severe distress. Arnica works with the Nat Phos to speedily cure the problem.

You can also take a PROBIOTIC like Bifilac daily. A Probiotic will help by changing the balance of the Bacteria in the gut and will contribute to your cure and help to ensure that your problem does not recur. After your problem with GERD is stabilised you can take the Arnica in the Wet dose nightly before bed and the Probiotic daily for life. You do not need to take Nat Phos daily but you will keep a stock to be used whenever you feel uncomfortable after a meal when you will take 2-3 tablets as necessary.

Please observe the following simple rules:

Do not eat large meals. Eat small meals but more often if you feel hungry. Do not drink more that a few sips of water after your meals. This is to prevent the further dilution of your gastric juice which can then reflux into your Esophagus which results in GERD.

It is important that you do not go to bed for at least 2 hours after dinner as food will take about this time to digest and it is best to stay awake and upright to enable your food to digest before going to bed.

No fatty food, alcohol, coffee, preserved meats like sausages, ham, bacon as they contain Saltpeter which will antidote the remedies listed immediately.

If you suffer from a stomach ache or you feel your stomach puffing up before a meal during the day between meals, this is usually due to hunger pains, caused by your gastric juices attacking the inner lining and the wall of your stomach. The simple remedy is to eat some food like a biscuit or a banana between meals to keep the gastric juice away from digesting the stomach wall which results in a stomach ache which in some cases can be acute.

You must drink at least 3 liters of liquids, preferably water daily and you must also exercise for at least half hour daily. It is important to sweat it out as this is all part of my therapy to overcome GERD.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in a 5ml Liquid Alcohol pack also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this shaking must be done every time before sipping a capful of the bottle twice daily.

It is understood that the patient will stop all other drugs which s/he may be taking for this ailment.
Do not use Coffee, Cola beverages, preserved foods like sausages, ham and bacon as they contain Saltpeter.

Respected Sir, Thank you very much for the best advises, I have used all three remedies as per instruction. This has improved my digestion system and GERD also however the problem of hypersensitivity/tolerance of weather, there is no significant improvement and it persist as it is. For Probiotic I am using Olive in Brian and home prepared Yogurt, whereas Bifilac is not available in my town and I will get it from some other place. Please advise if I should continue with these remedies. Regards

minhaj 9 years ago
Glad to note that your GERD problem has stabilized in a few days.
I had hoped that your 'hypersensitivity/tolerance of weather :” would have also improved with the GERD but it seems that this is not connected.

I prescribed the other remedy Eupat Perf to replace the Zyrtec but you state that it did not help. This presents a difficult case for me to solve as you have had DNS Surgery at age 62 and I do not know what difference this has made in your breathing and your sensitivity to the climate.

I would suggest that you continue this therapy for a few more weeks and report your response weekly.

Joe De Livera 9 years ago
Respected Sir, No doubt these three remedies has worked a lot and GERD has improved significantly, but the hypersensitivity/in-tolerance of weather has a very minor improvement and can not breath freely. Regards

'hypersensitivity/in-tolerance of weather '

Can you give more details of your problem to enable me to identify a remedy to help you?

While travelling out I am wearing mask on nose. When exposing to hot/cold weather the nose blocks and whole breathing system seems to be in spasm and chest and neck muscles tightness and pain in chest increases. Increase respiration which subsides when inside the room. No running nose and no watering from eyes. Always have a feeling that I can not breath freely from nose and have a feeling of dryness in the whole airway passage. Please advise, Regards

Can you breathe through your mouth when your nose is blocked?

I am trying to eliminate Asthma which may be your real problem.

Joe De Livera 9 years ago
yes i can breath through mouth when my nose is blocked.i visited a chest specialist few months back and he excluded asthma on the basis of chest x-ray, auscultation and PFT.

minhaj 9 years ago
I regret to inform you that I cannot help you to overcome your current distress which was caused by your DNS surgery. It is very likely that your surgeon’s analysis of your problem post surgery is the true answer due to some glands being removed during this procedure.

I do not think that there exists any remedy that can help you today.

You may continue with the remedy I prescribed for GERD and you will also take Arnica 30c in the Wet dose twice daily for a very long period in the hope that it may help to resolve your problem with your blocked nasal passages.

You will have to breathe through your mouth when outdoors and I note that you wear a mask when you do go out.

Yes I agree, actual homoeopathy stands a reasonable chance of being able to cure you. We do have over 10000 possible medicines that could be beneficial to you, so your options are still quite numerous.

Respected Dr. Joe De Livera, I thank you for all your efforts and your prestigious time, however one thing which I have never noticed that is GERD and your diagnoses has given me a permanent cure for that. Best Regards

minhaj 9 years ago
Thank you for confirming that one of the major impediments in your life, GERD was stabilized by me even without your requesting me to treat it. You will continue to use the Nat Phos 6x and Arnica 30c as directed as both are absolutely safe in use and it is just possible that the Arnica may be able to resolve your DNS problem.

As I have already stated, it is very unlikely that your DNS can be cured as yours is the aftermath of a surgical condition that was experimented upon rather late in your life which has resulted in what you are now undergoing today. As long as you continue your lifestyle using a mask and breathing through your mouth when outdoors, you can be normal indoors.

I note that many of the learned consultants on this Forum seem anxious to treat you and I shall be interested to follow their therapy if you still keep their therapy on this thread instead of moving to another as suggested by them as I may lose track of it as I do not visit the ABC of which I am the oldest advisor having joined it shortly after its owner Simon established it.

As you are perhaps aware I have my own Website;

It is true that surgery may render some conditions incurable. Whether this is true in your case remains to be seen. I have seen some truly amazing cures in clinic using classical homoeopathy. I think the important thing is not to assume anything at this stage and to remain hopeful. Hope is a valuable asset in the search for a cure.

Were you going to post your case again so someone here can try to help you?

I have looked over your various posts. I would suggest if you wish to be cured that you choose one practitioner to stay with, and that you report your progress after the prescription.
