Joe De Livera, need help with Reflux (GERD)

Hello Joe
I think my Son who is now 10 month is having refluxes. I will tell you his symptoms in detail:

Now since 5 week he is throwing up (vomiting). If we burp him after every oz sometimes he is fine and dosen’t throw up. Also, everyday in the morning, around 5 AM, he will get up crying for a min, will change his position and sleep again. Sometimes we have to hold him for 1-2 min before making him sleep again. He does this pattern for 3-5 times every day. His bowl movement is not consistent; the pop is mostly green-brown pasty and sometimes dry. Last week he had black poop. He passed a lot of gas.

One more thing which might be important, my wife she also has a lot of gassy issues. She frequently complaints of gas and headache.

Our pediatrician has prescribed us Zantac, but after reading forums especially (http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/282037/1), we want to try Nat Phos 6x.

Please let me know the quantity to give to our 10 month old son. He is 17.7 lb and 27 inches. He is mostly on breast milk. He also give him baby brown rice cereal, baby oatmeal cereal, avocado, banana and pear.

Thanks very much for your time.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
It is very likely that your baby suffers from Gastric Reflux aka GERD (Gastro Esophagal Reflux Disease)

The remedy that has proved to be very effective for Baby GERD is:

Nat Phos 6x dose half tablet dissolved in milk given immediately after a feed.

Please confirm that you burp baby immediately after each feed.

You will avoid eating all food that can cause any distress to baby. You must know that they are passed on to baby through your breast milk.

You (the mother) will take Nat Phos 6x dose 2 tablets after each of 3 meals daily and Arnica 30c in the Wet dose taken twice daily. The idea is that your milk will pass the effect to baby. You may like to know that this remedy will also help to reduce your weight by 1kg per week very safely.

Report progress in 24 hours and as often as you wish on this thread .

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in the Liquid pack in Alcohol, also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard at least 6 times before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this enhances the effect of the remedy on the user.

Hello Thanks for you reply.

Yes we 'try' to give him burp every time. Sometimes its difficult to
give him burp when he drink milk while sleeping. Otherwise he always get burp.

I was very desperate yesterday so I started giving him 1 tablet before I got this reply.

I gave him 1 tablet after each meal, so in total I have given him 3 till today morning.

I will give him half tablet now per your say for the rest of the day.

I did not found Arnica 30c Liquid Dilution locally so I have ordered it online. It will take a week to come to me.

My question:
1. Can my wife take just Nat Pros for now until Arnica comes or should she start both (Nat Phos + Arnica)together ?

2. For my son how long should we continue giving him half tablet of Nat Pros ?

Many Thanks

You did not indicate how baby responded to the Nat Phos 6x whole tablet which you can give him as it is quite safe unlike the PPI drug Zantac prescribed.

Your wife may take the Nat Phos 2-3 tablets after meals as the effect will pass over to baby through her milk.

Arnica is not essential for her.

Hello

We saw marginal improvement in our son today morning (9th). But as the day passed I think it was the same.

Here is the summary of events of today's whole day (9th).

Morning solid food: brown rice cereal+crushed apple: vomited almost all the apple, did not gave him any tablet.

9:30 milk: while sleeping, no burp, no spit up.

11:00 AM sold food: Avocado +Brown rice cereal: 1/2 tablet.

12:00 noon milk: 3.5 oz, no spit up, 1/2 tablet.

2:30 PM: 4.5 oz Milk while sleeping, 1/2 tablet, no spit up.

6:00 PM: 3.5oz milk, no spit up, 1/2 tablet.

7:30 PM: Solid food, Vomited a lot, threw up most of this food. no tablet

9:00 PM: 4oz milk, vomit and spit up, 1/2 tablet.

Also our son was very fuzzy today.

Please let me know the further course of action.
Should I continue giving him 1/2 tablet.
Mother has started taking 3 tables after each meal.

Continue with the Nat Phos and increase the dose to a full tablet.

Do not give baby
11:00 AM sold food: Avocado +Brown rice cereal: 1/2 tablet.

His digestive system is not ready as yet for fatty fruits like avacado and it is no surprise that he threw it all up.

Hello Joe

Thanks for your reply.

We will continue with 1 table like you said and stop giving him avocado.

This is the summary of today morning (10th)

1. Son was moving a lot in the bed (night+early morning) as if he was uncomfortable, like before.

2. 7:30 AM: Milk 4.5 oz, 1 tablet, no spit up. I gave burp 2 times in between of the milk.

3. 9:15 AM: Brown rice cereal + fresh pear juice. No split up. 1 tablet

4. 10:30 AM: 4.5oz Milk while sleeping, no split up. Waked up crying, I guess because there no burp. Gave him 1 tablet after he waked up.

I will update you with the rest of the days activity in evening.

Thanks again.

It is possible that baby's digestive process is waking up.

Hello Jeo

This is the follow up summary.

We are giving our son 1 tablet after every major meal.

1. He spit up last night a bit while we were giving him milk.

2. He again spit up in the morning milk, it was very watery.

3.No spit up after breakfast (brown rice cereal+fresh pear juice)

4.Again watery spit up when taking milk while sleeping.

Also, he is very constipated. He pooped very little yesterday and poop was very hard.

Otherwise he was happy and playing yesterday.

Please advice.

Thanks

Hello Joe

My son spit up two time today. one in the morning and one in the evening.

Also like I said before he is constipating really bad, please advice.

In the past we have given with prune juice with him bowl movement. Is it ok to give him prune juice?

Please reply, it's been 3rd day today and he is still spitting up.

Also, he wakes up crying in the middle of the night because of his gas. We can easily feel his stomatch being very hard.

I will be waiting for your reply.

Many Thanks

I think that it is now time to give him Nux Vomica 30c in the Wet dose which is half a teaspoonful taken twice daily. You will get the Liquid Dilution of Nux V. This remedy will also help with his constipation which in a baby is only of significance after 4 days. If as you state his tummy is hard, you can do a gentle massage to stimulate peristalsis.

You will continue with the Nat Phos 6x 1 tablet after every feed but not to exceed 6 tablets daily. I presume that you the mother are taking 2 tablets of NP6x 3 times daily. Please confirm

You can also try cutting back on his solids which may not be digestible right now as he is only 10 months old. Start with this from today and keep him on milk only and report his response.
