Acid Reflux in Infants - Attn Joe De Livera
hi joe!I've skimmed some of the posts that you've participated in regarding this topic and it seems pretty clear that I need to give Nat Phos 6x a try but before I did, I wanted to see if the circumstances with my little one would change how I would give her the doses.
She's four months old now and was diagnosed with acid reflux when she was around a month old. We weren't prescribed medication for it, instead our pediatrician suggested we add oatmeal to her formula. That isn't working. We tried to switch her to soy formula and that constipated her and made passing her bowels extremely difficult, so we switched to Gerber Protect. She still had it really bad. I then mixed the Enfamil Anti Spit-up and Gerber Protect and started to see a little improvement. Very little improvement.
At night, she doesn't usually burp after feedings. She takes about three oz of formula and falls asleep. Her sleep has improved with time but during the day (there is no sleep or feeding schedule) she vomits all over me, her, and anything in between after every feeding.
She also suffers from terrible chest congestion and I'm wondering if I relieve her acid reflux, will her congestion start to subside? Her pediatrician has us giving her treatments of albuterol and saline drops in her nose - neither of which has helped.
I would greatly appreciate any insight you can share on this matter.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
My apologies that I did not respond for a couple of days as I do not monitor this forum daily as I used to do in the past as I have my own Website where I try to help all who seek my help.
I believe that your baby's problem is the fact that she cannot digest any solids at 4 months of age. I am surprised that your pediatrician has prescribed Oatmeal which has contributed to making her problem worse.
Suggest you stop all medication and just give her infant formula with the Nat Phos 6x tablet dissolved in milk immediately after a feed.
I shall copy my default therapy for Baby Gerd which has helped hundreds of babies as you may have already discovered.
It is very likely that your baby suffers from Gastric Reflux aka GERD (Gastro Esophagal Reflux Disease)
The remedy that has proved to be very effective for Baby GERD is:
Nat Phos 6x dose half tablet dissolved in milk given immediately after a feed. If you discover that baby does not respond to the half tablet you can increase the dosage to a full tablet given after every feed but not to exceed 5 tablets in 24 hours.
It is essential that you burp baby immediately after each feed.

Hi Joe,
My baby will be next week 6 months old. Ped prescribed Zantac to help her with the acid reflux and it is going to be two months as she's been drinking it. We know that it does fix the issue and that is bloc actor for acid. We tried to slowly stop with medicine but after day 3 it would come back. Could you give me advice on how to use Nat PHOS 6x , please
Thanks in advance

I shall copy my default therapy for Baby GERD which I have prescribed to hundreds of babies which I hope will help your baby too.
The remedy that has proved to be very effective for Baby GERD is:
Nat Phos 6x tablet dissolved in milk given immediately after a feed. Start with half tablet but if the response is not as expected, you may increase to a full tablet but you will not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours.
You may like to try to reduce the quantity of milk you give for each feed to enable babys digestion to stabilize. You will however feed more often. It is essential that you burp baby immediately after each feed.
You will avoid eating all food that can cause any distress to baby. You must know that they are passed on to baby through your breast milk.
It is best not to vaccinate Baby till s/he is over a year old as the after effects in some cases can add to the problems with GERD.
Do not give Baby any solid food till s/he is over 8 months of age.
You (the mother) will take Nat Phos 6x dose 2 tablets after each of 3 meals daily. The idea is that your milk will pass the effect to baby. You may like to know that Nat Phos 6x will help to reduce your weight by 1kg per week very safely.
Report progress in 24 hours and as often as you wish on this thread.
If you discover that baby does not respond to the Nat Phos 6x alone and this has occurred in a few cases, you will contact me again and I shall then prescribe another remedy to reinforce the action of Nat Phos 6x.

Dear Joe,
Thanks for the reply. I do not breastfeed I use organic dairy formula. Will the dose be still the same ? half tablet each feed for 3 days or 1 tablet after each feed for the first day and then half tablet on second and third day?
Thanks in advance

Nat Phos 6x (NP) is NOT a drug. It is a Biochemic Cell Salt which is very safe to use for both babies and adults . Look it up on Google.
The dosage of NP does not vary with the feed. You should discover almost immediate relief after the first dose as confirmed by anxious mothers whose babies were prescribed the dangerous PPI drugs like Zantac for months previously, which invariably did not help and made a bad situation infinitely worse.
NP is best given with half tablet before a feed and the balance after.

Thank you so much! I used Nat phos 6x as you prescribed and my baby responded perfectly to it. It's been almost two weeks as my baby is not using anything and no reflux has been back.
Now we have teething issues. It seems it bothers her couple of times during the day and night and she would always put her hands into mouth trying to rub the gums.
If you have any suggestion they would be greatly appreciate it.
