Trying to understand homeopathy
This is a question I am trying to find an answer for.Is homeopathy an opinion? Let's say, if I have a problem and go to 3 different homeopaths, is it possible that I get prescribed 3 different remedies or it's more likely that all 3 of them prescribe the same thing?
Just very curious about it and haven't been able to find an answer yet.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Yes you would probably get 3 different remedies and
they would be taking your case different ways.
1. There are some classical homeopaths who believe
that finding the one right remedy cures everything.
2. There are other classical homeopaths who use one
remedy at a time but deal with acute illness with
different remedies as they show up.
3. There are homeopaths like Robin Murphy who call
themselves 'clinical homeopaths' who work in layers
and work on the first most pressing 'layer' that is
apparent and work thru these layers and get to the
main remedy that way.
You have to know what type of homeopath you are going to.
Look up the site of Dr. Luc, a common sense classical homeopath ( he is retired now) look up Robin Murphy,
look up Rajan Sankaran ( the sensation method) and
get a sense of what is going on in homeopathy today.

Slight correction to what Simone wrote.
Type-1&2 are same. Acute illness may or may not need a different remedy.
In most cases, unless the remedy is taken repeatedly the problem will worsen with the wrong remedy but will get back to where it was.
That's why homeopathy is considered safe.

Thanks, so there are no real side effects.
I was reading though that, phosphorus, for example, is pretty dangerous although it is prescribed in homeopathy... Maybe there are 2 kind of phosphorus or homeopathy gives it in such minuscule doses that it doesn't cause issues?
I was actually reading right here on ABChomeopathy that it causes major damage.

That's why learning homeopathy is not easy as there are no short cuts, there are a ton of ifs & buts.

Yes, you can use self prescribing books for acute things.
NOT chronic things. There are even good instruction
books in homeopathic kits. You match the remedy to
the acute condition. Like Arsenicum for travelers diarrhea,
aconite for a sudden cold or flu after having been out
in cold wind and so on. These work great and resolve
the issue in a day- especially good for kids when you
get up at 2 am and find someone coughing or having
a fever.
A good book is Homeopathic Self-Care by Dr. Rboert and
Judyth Ullman- google their site. Miranda Castro also
has a very similar book that is very well regarded.
You have to understand that there is no substance of
material in the remedy after 12x potency- it is a water
molecule imprint- you need to read the basics as all
cannot be explained on here.
Read the Dr. Luc site at least.
Avoid the homeopath who claims that there is no need to treat serious acute events and that your chronic remedy will take care of any acute situation. It goes against all principles of good homeopathy. But dont make the mistake neither to treat every physical trifle with a remedy from your remedy kit. While under chronic treatment of a good homeopath, communicate with him as to what acute events need an intervention. Dont start your own treatment.
Avoid the homeopath who tells you that you only need ONE constitutional remedy for the rest of your life, no matter what happens. This goes against all the principles of homeopathy.
Fitness-one and two are not the same. I have had several
of the #1 type above- who did not address acutes.Andre Saine
talks about them, Dr. Luc talks about them and Robin
Murphy talks about them.
Blue sky here is an excerpt from Dr. LucWhats your basic approach in finding a remedy for your patients? ( this is for CHRONIC not acute ailments which you can easily
handle if you know the basics.)
I have them make a timeline with all the major traumas in their life, whether mental, emotional, physical, financial, or whatever. Any event that causes lasting symptoms will need to be treated eventually. We call it a layer. We start with the most recent layer first and work backwards, every time treating the Never Well Since (usually a mental or emotional trauma that triggered the onset of symptoms).
