Post nasal discharge
What homeopathic medicine should I give to my child for his post nasal drip due to pollen allergiesShenoy on 2014-03-14
This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
The right remedy has to be chosen based on your childs
symptoms.
1Age and sex of the child?
2. How long has the child had pollen allergies? When did this start?
Are they allergic to any other things such as dust, or have
dairy or gluten or other allergies.
3. Is there any mucous discharge- if so what color is it and
consistency?
4. Is the child taking any other medications for anything?
What have you done for this in the past?
5. Describe the childs personality.
6. What type of foods does the child like and dislike?
7. What helps make this better -
What makes it worse?
There will be more questions- the immune system has to be
boosted up and it will handle the allergies.

Age:4.5 boy
Started at the age of 2.5, no food allergies
Watery discharge from nose, but not too much. But I see post nasal drip at the back of his throat and he keeps clearing his throat all the time, affects his voice too which is not clear
gave him zyrtec in past
Nature - sweet and loving child, happy and fun loving, likes to be pampered and loved, sometimes clingy, not stubborn or arrogant
Likes cake, oranges. Likes crispy stuff. Dislikes mushy things.
Not sure what makes better or worse

Hi.
Has this drip gone on since 2.5 years with no stopping of it?
What was going on when this began? Was there a cold, flu,-change of
place, school starting, etc.
Is this seasonal at all? What type of area are you in weather wise?
.Where on the eyes does it itch?
. Are the eyes sore, if so where?
.Do you rub your eyes, if so does that help?
.Are your eyes watery?
Is there any pus in around the eyes?
. Are they red? Where are they red?
.Does light bother you?
Nose-
. is it red and if so where?
/sore? where?
.itchy? where?
watery? and thick mucous?
.how much do you sneeze?
Throat and roof of mouth
.What is the taste in mouth like?
Where is it sore?
. Is there burning? Where?
FACE
. Is there swelling? Where?
Dryness- Where?
.itchy- Where?
. Redness - Where?
. Burning- Where?
Time
1. is there a time when things are better?
2. Is there a time when things are worse?
Anything else you may think makes this better or worse ( the allergies)

The eye itch started at age of one, his first spring. Didn't do much as it was mild.
The post nasal started st 2.5. Have been giving zyrtec since then.

Yes he starts with rubbing his eye, they start getting red and more itchy and the skin below his eye gets puffy. We have been using zaditor for eyes till last year.
No idea if light bothers him.
Nose- . is it red and if so where? /sore? where? .itchy? where? watery? and thick mucous? .how much do you sneeze?
Nose waters but not like a faucet. No mucus as such. He rubs it sometimes .
Throat and roof of mouth .What is the taste in mouth like? Where is it sore? .
Is there burning?
He says his throat is scratchy. He keeps clearing his throat constantly. There is post nasal drip.

No swelling on face. Only dryness and redness around the mouth area.No itching.

Hi,
Try Allium Cepa 30c. Take 3 pills and dissolve in two tablespoons
of water. Give him a teaspoon out of that mix.
See how that affects in 4 to 5 hours. If it is aggravating or helping
then don't give anymore until things return.
You can try this 3 times, and again always wait- until things
go backwards before another dose is given, so you do not
overdose. Stop Hylands allergy medicine and other meds .
If you can get him to drink some tea with rosemary in it -
that helps dry up nasal drip)
If you use honey, find local honey. Often the use of local or
nearby location honey, helps with pollen allergies.

Hi, Allium Cepa has a scratchy throat, mucous in the throat, plus
his other symptoms match Allium Cepa also.

Thanks Simone. My sons scratchy throat and post nasal drip has stopped. I give him Allium Cepa 30 everyday in the morning as a preventive since it is pollen season. Is it ok to do that?
Shenoy 9 years ago
No it is not.
Remedies do not work like allopathic medicine.
You wait until symptoms return and then only do you give
another dose of it.
When a person has too much of a remedy it will bring
back symptoms- you don't want to overdose.
Best,

The Allium Cepa is supposed to take care of this
and symptoms should get less and less and the gaps
between taking a remedy further apart.
The Hay fever is the immune system over- reacting to
something that is not a problem. The remedy should
boost the immune system up to normal and there will
be no hay fever.
If he is 4 and going to pre- school, kids pick up a lot
of colds and other things at that age- I don't know
if you are thinking of colds, etc But hayfever is a response
to pollen-
Is the school located in a heavy planted area???
If he comes home from school and is having the drip again
- then give him a dose after school. There is no need
to give medicine if someone is doing OK>

Simone, my son has some puffiness below his eyes...should I give him Allium cepa or Euphrasia....no watery discharge neither from eyes or nose.
Shenoy 9 years ago
When was the last time you gave him Allium Cepa?
♡ simone717 9 years ago
You may have given him too much Allium Cepa.
Like I said, if you give too much of a remedy - it will start
to bring problems Back for a time.
So wait another day- don't give him anything and see if
this goes down by itself.
