Nasal congestion upon waking for 3 yrs

I would LOVE help with my problem... For the last 3 yrs I wake up with serious nasal congestion in the morning--sometimes hyperventilating but always SUPER tired (even if I slept for enough hours). At night I fall asleep easily and stay asleep easily, but in the morning feel awful and am quite tired throughout the day.

This problem started when I moved into my current house. The morning after my first night in the house I woke up stuffy and have done so ever since. I've had the air and my blood tested and installed high-quality air-purifier.

If you are gracious enough to answer my query, please let me know what I need to tell you to help.

Thank you!
Rebecca

How is your current house different from the one earlier?

Is it more cold and damp?

Is it near the sea, resulting in dampness in the house?

rishimba 9 years ago
Thank you for the questions.

My new house is 4 miles from my old one so the climate is the same (2 hour's drive to the sea). This house is much bigger than my old one (which makes it harder to keep track of my children), and now my sister (and her cat) live with us, which means I have very little (precious) time alone.

I've gained a lot of weight since moving here (65 lb). I feel unwell no matter what I eat, so my motivation to eat really well has gone.

Thanks for any help.

Rishimba, thank you for taking an interest in my case and for your questions!

1. Describe your main suffering? State the correct location.

Nasal blockage/congestion in the morning

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?

Some pain in joints, many fibrocysts in breasts, small cyst on cervix, tightness in jaw, mild hardness-of-hearing, faint constant sound in ears, very tired (probably due to poor sleep because of congestion), many broken blood vessels and unsightly-looking veins in my legs. A little prolapse of colon and uterus.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

Do you mean how do I feel about my symptoms? I'm discouraged about ever finding an answer. I feel like there's something very simple that I'm missing. I'm sad about gaining so much weight (65 lbs in 3 yrs), partly in response to not feeling well.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Describe the sensation in your own words.

I wake up congested and feel like I can hardly bear to start the day this way, again. It's hard to breathe and my whole body feels clogged and I'm exhausted.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?

Three yrs ago, the night I moved into my current house

6. Which time of the day you are worst?

Morning

7. What are the things that aggravate your suffering and those that ameliorate the same? Example: time, temperature, pressure, rubbing, washing, eating, tight clothing etc.

Worse after sleeping
Better after taking a shower, face massage, being up and about

8. Do you think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

External: new house (I moved here with 4 others but I am the only who's responded negatively, and the air tests normal). I'm not the only adult in the house anymore.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?

I feel good in humidity. Fine with hot or cold weather as long as I'm dressed appropriately.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.

Hardworking, thoughtful, caring, obsessive, worrying, kind, emotionally steady/stable, friendly, responsible, sad, athletic, detail oreinted. I easily see the good in people.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
I LOVE thunderstorms

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
That's a tough question. I like to be heard and to know people care. But I don't like it if they try to minimize my problem or if they feel sorry for me.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?

Very sensitive to all of it--sound, light, air freshness, and how things feel against my body. I can't block it out.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
Weeping, talking to one self etc?

I tap my teeth together to the rhythm of songs in my head (it's very hard to stop, even tho it has worn my teeth in some places). I pop my knuckles, jaw, neck, and elbows (feel build-up of tension if I don't crack them).

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?

My children I love deeply and I'm very dedicated to them. My friends and family I also love and appreciate very much. However, I really wish I had more time alone--it's very hard for me to be around people so much of the time, even people I love and adore. I'm not married anymore.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

I'm afraid of suffocating. I actually feel like I'm suffocating a little bit all the time. I'm afraid of bad things happening to my kids and of not doing my best for them. I hate going to bed at night. I always feel like it's the last night, like it's unsafe to go to sleep. Sometimes dream of being in situations where I might drown.

12. What do you crave in food items and what are your aversions?

I LOVE chocolate, and sour/fermented things. Crave baked sweets (I don't eat gluten, tho), sometimes potato ships or french fried, dark red fruits. I dislike tomatoes, green peppers.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?

Normal

14. How is your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?

Normal. I eat too much (including too much sweets) because it relieves my stress (temporarily).

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?

Sugar (I can cane sugar, honey, fruit, etc, just not 'regular' sugar), wheat, much soy, much dairy.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?

Normal. Trunk.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?

Regular (2-3 times/day), normal consistency.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?

I stay asleep all night, but wake up unrested. I spend most of the night on my back and move to my side in the early morning. I sleep with many pillows and have to have everything 'just right' to sleep--totally dark, quiet, nothing touching me wrong (like a hair, or wrinkle in sheets).

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?

I'm not in a partnership now but when I am, yes. Maybe a slightly low libido.

20. Do you have any strange, peculiar or unusual symptom or feelings? How are you different from others?

Sometimes normal indoor light feels very overly bright to me. Sometimes when I'm straining my eyes (for example, focusing to write something when I'm tired) my eyes move back and forth really fast (many times in a split second). I don't like standing (prefer to walk or sit or lie). I love to sing. Crave fresh air. Prefer to run upstairs rather than walk up them. I like being in the dark--it feels like I can finally relax after having to look at so many things. Dislike shopping, almost never wear make up, music can make my whole world all right, can't stand not being in nature.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

Quercetin, serrapeptase enzymes, vitamin c, liver-clearing herbs, mucinex, and claritin, all to no effect. I took one dose of a homeopathic blend and the next morning, for the first time in years, I woke up feeling wonderful! But I never experienced that effect again, even while taking the blend faithfully for 2 weeks. It was a 'NET' brand allergy blend containing equal volumes (in 12x, 30x, 100x, and LM1 potencies) of: Allium Sativum, Anacardium Orientale, Apis Mellifica, Gambogia, Mercurius Solubilis, Natrum Carbonicum, Nitricum Acidum, Nux Vomica, Phosphorus, Pulsatilla, and Sulfur.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?

Depression, arthritis

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.

I'm tall (5 ft 10 in), with a lean, athletic build (but I've gained a lot of weight recently--65 lbs), long dark brown hair, brown eyes, nice skin.

(For Females)
24. If your menstrual cycles are not normal, please describe the irregularities, like pains, moods, flow type, clots etc.

They are normal. But shorter than average (2 days of real bleeding, followed by 2 days of light spotting).

25. What major diseases have you had in your life and when. Please write them in a chronological manner.

Asthma since early childhood (or asthma-like problem, I don't know... I have episodes where I can't breath--I have great trouble exhaling and my eyes water excessively and squeeze shut tight. This passes after a couple minutes, sometimes after a sneeze).
Tonsillitis, age 19.
Arthritis, age 20.
Thyroid auto-immune disorder, age 38.
I am now 40.

Thank you again. I look forward to reading what you might say.

Did you ever notice blocked nose even after an afternoon siesta?

Is it your 'sleep' or the 'morning' that's causing an aggravation of symptoms?

You have written mostly positive traits about your personality as the answer to question no.10.

Could you now reflect and write honestly, what others think about you? Especially your ex-husband, your colleagues or neighbors?

What was happening emotionally in your life when you shifted to this house?

Do you think your menstrual flow has decreased in the last 3 years and you may be just entering the menopausal stage now?

Has the intensity of your sufferings in the morning /after sleep slowly increased with every passing day in this house?

When did you last live with your partner? Can you link the onset of your symptoms with the period of separation from your partner?

If yes, what was the reason of separation?

How long does the stuffy nose take to get normal? If you are up and about in the morning, apart from feeling tired, does the nose block continue for a few hours more?

rishimba 9 years ago
Hello and thank you again.

Did you ever notice blocked nose even after an afternoon siesta?

-I never take siestas so I don't know.

Is it your 'sleep' or the 'morning' that's causing an aggravation of symptoms?

-I don't think it's sleep or the morning--I believe it's lying still in bed for several hours.

You have written mostly positive traits about your personality as the answer to question no.10.

Could you now reflect and write honestly, what others think about you? Especially your ex-husband, your colleagues or neighbors?

-Do you mean less-desirable traits? I would say I can be difficult to access emotionally (I'm friendly and connect deeply with people but in a way I'm always keeping them at arm's length). To a degree I'm unaware of and afraid of my own feelings. I lack self-certainty. I have a difficult time knowing what I need and asking for it. I think the people around me would agree with these things. Also, my using sweets to deal with my stress is not a very positive trait.

What was happening emotionally in your life when you shifted to this house?

-The move was the only thing I can think of, everything else was stable(family, job, etc). (But it was difficult going from a cozy little apartment to a big house like this, and going from being the only adult (making all the rules myself and having more time alone) to now living with my sister. Although she is wonderful and we are very close.

Do you think your menstrual flow has decreased in the last 3 years and you may be just entering the menopausal stage now?

-No, my menstrual flow has been the same for many years.

Has the intensity of your sufferings in the morning /after sleep slowly increased with every passing day in this house?

-No, it's actually improved a lot. I used to feel awful, all day, every day. So I did blood tests and air tests, got an air-purifier for my room (and started keeping the door shut), cut out all gluten, had the metal fillings removed from my teeth, and did some liver cleansing. I think that all helped a lot, but I'm still far from feeling good/normal. BTW, I also started having cognitive difficulties (very hard time remembering words, names of people I know well, and speaking correctly) after moving here. But that is something that came on gradually, and it is mostly better now.

When did you last live with your partner? Can you link the onset of your symptoms with the period of separation from your partner?

-I can't link them. I got divorced 6 yrs ago, and lived alone with my kids for 3 yrs, and now with my kids and my sister for 3 yrs.

If yes, what was the reason of separation?

How long does the stuffy nose take to get normal? If you are up and about in the morning, apart from feeling tired, does the nose block continue for a few hours more?

-The nose block never goes away. I feel much better after maybe half an hour, and then experience gradual improvement the longer I'm up, but I have a partially blocked nose (and am very tired) all day and until I go to bed again. Last night was different--I slept sitting up all night and was less stuffy/tired in the morning (but it was only somewhat better--not all the way better).

-BTW, I think that something has been wrong with me for a long time, and moving here was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I also want to add that I've been concerned about the cysts in my breasts for several years--the doctors say they are okay, but I know it's not healthy. And I forgot to mention I have a lot of grinding in my neck and one shoulder.

Thank you again for your help and concern! :-)

Your remedy is CONIUM MACULATUM 1M single dose for the meantime.

If this single dose doesn't cure ALL your problems, take another dose after 30 days.

One dose would be 3 drops of remedy in some 10 ml of water first thing in the morning in empty stomach. You may sleep for another one or two hours after taking the dose so that you don't end up drinking, eating or rinsing your mouth.

After 15 days of taking the dose, please come back here and tell me about your stuffy nose, breast tumors and general feeling of well being.

In case you feel some tingling or throbbing in your breasts around your cysts, be assured its a sign of cure. Before the tumors dissolve, they may show some aggravation for a few days. So, don't get worried.

Thank you so much! I can't wait to try it.

I went to purchase the remedy just now and apparently the 1M is only available in pellets. Shall I buy pellets and dissolve them in liquid, or what do you suggest?

Also, do I hold the liquid in my mouth or swallow it?

I am really impressed, by the way. When I looked up conium maculatum I realized you must know these remedies SO well.

Rebecca 9 years ago
If you don't find liquid remedy, you may buy pellets. One dose would be placing three pellets under your tongue and going to sleep for 2 hours. Let the pellets dissolve by themselves and get absorbed. Don't crush or swallow the pellets. The longer they take to dissolve and stay in your mouth, better is the absorption.

Purchase the remedy of a reputed brand. Take one dose and watch the reaction. You don't have to take it more for the time being.

Best wishes!

rishimba 9 years ago
Oh, thank you so much! I will do it.

I have another question. I use a lot of essential oils in my daily life...lemon, lavender, frankincense, tangerine, blue chamomile, marjoram, etc. Sometimes peppermint. I'll put them on my skin or spray it in the air. Do I need to avoid all these for the 30 days that the remedy is working? Do I need to avoid coffee or anything else?

Thanks!
Rebecca

Rebecca 9 years ago
Yes, please avoid coffee on the day you take the remedy. Rest of the days you can have your daily cup of coffee.

Refrain from using all these sprays for the first few days of taking the remedy.

However, once the remedy has brought out a response, there is no restriction in using these oils.

Hello Rishimba,

It's been 15 days since taking the conium maculatum 1M in the way you suggested, so I'm coming back to report. I haven't noticed any changes in congestion, breasts, or well-being. Actually I've only noticed one change and that's a decrease in my craving for sweets.

Shall I just keep waiting?

Thank you!

The remedy that was initially coming up in my mind for you was LACHESIS but later I changed it to Conium Mac based on totality and also on the fact that you didn't experience clogging of nose after a siesta during the day time.

Now that Conium hasn't produced any reaction in you, its better you try out LACHESIS.

Take it in 200C potency and just two doses on a single day. Take one dose in the morning and the second in the evening. Take the doses in empty stomach and clean mouth. Don't take any food or water or even rinse your mouth for the next one hour of taking the dose.

Let me tell you this remedy will work slowly but deeply if its the right one. So, wait for at least 10 days after taking it and then share your response here.

rishimba 9 years ago
Thank you for your response. I realized I should mention the following:

I'm not positive that I took the conium properly. I think I got the drops in the water, but I didn't stir it because I worried that a metal, wood,or plastic spoon might effect the remedy. So when I woke up I realized I wan't positive I'd really gotten it--especially since it was the middle of the night and I was half asleep but I thought I'd wait and see.

Also, I read about conium after you prescribed it and I noticed several things that applied to me that I hadn't mentioned: dislike of standing, excessively watery eyes, withered breasts, and stomach bloating/pain (every 2 months). It seemed to fit so well that I thought I should point those things out.

I have taken lachesis before, by the way (200C or 1M--I don't remember) about 10 years ago. It was recommended for extreme ear pain in one ear. It worked wonderfully (after creating immediate but short lived extreme pain in both ears).

Also, I actually don't know if my nose would clog during a daytime siesta, because I never nap during the day. If I mis-spoke about that I apologize. Napping has always made my head feel like it's full of cobwebs (at least if I nap after 2pm) so I avoid it.

Thank you for your consideration.
Rebecca

Rebecca 9 years ago
Noted.

Please go for LACHESIS 200C as suggested. It should bring about a response as I see it.

For the cysts in the breasts, if they don't dissolve after taking a few dose of lachesis, you can later take a few doses of Conium Mac 1M in the proper way.

But, for now, take Lachesis and share your observations after 15 days.

Okay, will do. I found the bottle of lachesis pellets that I used before and it turns out it is 200C so I'll take that tomorrow morning and tomorrow night.

Thanks! :-)

Rebecca 9 years ago
Hi Rishimba,

It's been 15 days since taking the Lachesis and I haven't experienced any changes.

It's possible my bottle of Lachesis 200c (being 10 yrs old) wasn't good, but the other remedies in that collection have been effective so I thought it would be okay.

Shall I buy a new bottle, or what do you suggest?

Thank you so much in advance,
Rebecca

It appears to me you could either be a PULSATILLA or an ARSENICUM person constitutionally. So, try these remedies one at a time.

Please try 3 doses of PULSATILLA 200C on a single day, each dose 6 hours apart.

Let me know your observation after a week.

rishimba 9 years ago
Hello Rishimba,

It's been a week since I took the three doses of Pulsatilla 200c six hours apart, and I don't notice any changes.

You were saying Arsenicum next?

Thanks,
Rebeca

Rebecca 9 years ago
Hi Rishimba,

Are you still there? I wanted to add I keep dreaming of dust.

Thanks!
Rebecca

Rebecca 9 years ago
Please try ARS ALB in the same potency and frequency.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I was on vacation, so didn't check these mails.

rishimba 9 years ago
Thank you! I took the doses today as you described and I will let you know how it goes.

I hope your vacation was relaxing.

Rebecca 9 years ago
Hi Rishimba,

It's only been 4 days since I took the arsenicum, but I wanted to report that the congestion has been a lot worse the past 2 days (body fatigue also worse).

Thought I should let you know in case this means anything.

Thanks!
