i learned about iodine through dr brownstein's lecture on youtube and strongly recommend everyone on this forum to watch it. he explains about how iodine deficiency is responsible for countless illnesses and weaknesses, hair loss being one symptom. he also explains how iodine deficiency is not fixed with regular iodized salt intake because less than 10 percent of the iodine in salt isnt bio available and that refined salt itself is bad for you and unnatural. anyway i jusy wanted to add to this forum that on top of natural iodine intake for hair that i recommend washing you hair with all natural baking soda unavailable in the stores, but online. ive done quite a lot of research on it and have found that the baking soda sold in stores is actually toxic because it is full of aluminum and synthetically made. natural baking soda is simple and harmless to the body and safe to ingest. it alkalizes acidic environments naturally of course and is the best way to wash not only your hair but your skin too for many reasons. i strongly suggest people look into this. baking soda is a natural use for hundreds of daily tasks and is cheap but people dont know about what it can do and that only synthetic brands are harmful to the body. i buy pure baking soda from bobs red mill but im sure there are other sources.

I remember as a young girl my grandmother told me that when little girls were bald or they had hair that wouldn't grow that iodine mixed with Vaseline, and/ or sulphur was applied to the scalp. Now that was over 40 years ago, and I wouldn't use the Vaseline because it's petroleum based. I use Jamaican Black Castor oil, and I am going to buy the iodine and mix with it. This castor oil is more potent than simple castor oil. Using the JBCO by itself does not bother me, and most people mix it with a carrier oil. It is thick so you don't have to use a lot of it. A little goes a long way. Apply it to the scalp and massage it in. The massage should be at least 4 minutes. You want to stimulate the blood flow to the areas that need it. I need the full strength for speedy results. I am going to add the sulphur to it the night before I shampoo because I don't want my hair to smell like sulphur.
I have been using the JBCO since June of last year and I do see that my hair has grown about 3 inches, and it does feel thicker, so the iodine and sulphur can't hurt it.
They say that the old fashioned tried and true methods do work, it's just that we out grow it, with all the new products that come out on the market.

Hey...everyone!
I didn't know that the JBCO has a high iodine content, and has sulphur in it. I have to admit that I didn't know that the castor oil even contained iodine. Someone suggested using it, easy to find, low cost, so I brought it. Iodine is a needed supplement in hair growth. A lot of people do not get enough iodine in their diets, and it has been found to be a reason why some people have hair loss. So, this is probably the reason why some people have good results with the JBCO. Iodine, and sulphur content, and deep penetration into the scalp.
My grandmother knew what she was talking about.

This is for 'Thyroid'. I can't help you on the weisbaden mother tincture or the arnica mother tincture. I have never used them.
I did buy the white iodine tincture today, along with some Evening Primrose Oil tablets, Biotin, B-12, and a multi-vitamin that has zinc, and iodine in it. So, I will carefully chart my progress and let you know what works. I am going to mix the iodine with the Black Castor Oil, but I am only applying it where I need it most. When you suffer with a thyroid condition the thyroid gland doesn't, or can't extract from food the amount of iodine that the body needs. So, applying it externally, and/or internally will help.

Thanx crownandglory but just want to know who has suggested you to apply iodine tincture with castor oil.
here in this forum i have studied that white iodine is suggested is most.

For Thyroid
Truthfully I didn't get the idea from anyone. I just figured since castor oil helps to grow hair I would mix it, sort of like a booster. Plus I didn't want the pure iodine directly on my scalp. I figured since it has been mixed with 'Vaseline' as an old home remedy, the castor oil would be a little bit better. I did buy the white because the other one stains your skin.
Also, I read on the internet that PCOS can cause bald spots in some women. Talk to your doctor about it, all while doing some research to find out what has helped other women with the same. It's like you're fighting a double battle, because both are dealing with hormones, or an in balance of. I prefer using anything holistic, over a hormone replacement. I have learned that a thyroid support supplement (for me) is all that is needed.

Hi,

I have a hair fall of 50 a day.

I have seen the post and started using Arnica Q 20ml.

I am using Arnica Q,Jaborandy and Coconut oil mixture on scalp massage.

Do i need to have arnica dose along with it.Or it is sufficient remedy for my hair fall.

Please help.

Thanks,
Mama

For crownandglory,

Did you see results after using Iodine mixed with castor oil on your scalp for hair growth? I will be turning 50 soon, and I am losing a lot of hair daily. Medically nothing seem to be wrong. All tests are normal, thankfully. But hair fall and hair thinning has started worrying me out.

Reading about natural remedies for hair loss brought me to this site. Read through the whole thread. I know castor oil is excellent for hair. I am thinking of mixing Iodine 5 drops with a tablespoon or two of Castor oil and apply on scalp.

How many days in a week did you apply this concoction?

Hope to hear from you in this regard. Thanks in advance.

After reading some posts here on how iodine applied topically helped with hair loss for some ladies, I started doing the same. I was experiencing a lot of hair fall, so thought there would be no harm in trying this age old remedy.

I don't have any thyroid issues, and my blood work always seems to be normal. Anyway, within a short time of applying iodine on my scalp I saw results, my hair fall reduced so much that I am thrilled. Hope this continues and my hair thickens up gradually. I know this will take a long time. But at least shedding reduced. So happy!
