This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Anti-biotics kill many types of micro organisms.

Many of them have been in our gut from the first few months of our existence .

They help us digest many of the natural foods we eat and are in a symdiotic relationship to us.

IE they get a living from the food that passes through our intestine and in turn they help us to absorb substances that we could not absorb without their help.

When we take antibiotics we destroy the delicate balance that was created in our infancy.

Thus Candida helps us to digest sugars , but it is a very strong organism and is only kept in check by the other micro organisms that set up a balance in our babyhood.

When we take antibiotics these weaker organisms are destroyed , but Candida can mutate into 7 - at least - different forms and avoid the attack of the antibiotic.

This then is how our doctors give us - unintentionally - Thrush .

Thrush is an uncontrolled multiplication of Candida , which is now free to multiply without any check.

Probiotics are things like "live" yoghurt , lactobacillus , etc which replace the micro organisms destroyed by antibiotics .

Thanks for the reply walkin.

Sorry for being ignorant but in case a child have an infection and doctor prescribes antibiotic then instead of antibiotic we can feed the child more Yogurt and lactobacillus and the result will be same.

Are candida and Thrush name of homeopathic medicines? Are these probiotic too??

Probiotics should be taken more as a preventive. And after anti-biotics, because they kill good and bad bacteria -all bacteria. Anti-biotics sometimes may be necessary, probiotics restore the balance.

There are also plenty of anti-biotics found naturally in food as well as probiotics. Both help fight infections.

Candida and thrush are Yeast that live in our bodies.

Let me clarify again, in case my previous post is confusing.

Probiotics are good bacteria that naturally live in our intestines in balance with other kinds of bacteria.

Using anti-biotics will kill the good bacteria as well as the bad, so it's good to replace the good, during and after taking anti-biotics.

I think walkin is saying that over-use of antibiotics causes some bacteria/yeast become resistant to antibiotics by creating new strains.

Good bacteria like acidophilus bacillum and many others, yeast like thrush and candida are all microrganisms that live in our intestines and when thrown out of balance, can live in other parts of our body.

Thrush is a yeast infection very common in infants (mouths and bottoms) and can be passed to breastfeeding mothers causing problems as well..

Candidiasisis is a chronic yeast infection from the yeast, Candida Albicans.

If your child eats natural anti-biotics like garlic and pro- biotics like yogurt into the childs diet, infections will be less often and not as severe.

This is a good site to learn more about probiotics:

Natural anti-biotics:

Garlic (not elephant garlic)
Some people believe garlic is more potent than peniciilin and the like. It has been effective against E. coli and Staph infections.
