This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
My personal opinion:

There is nothing like borderline personality disorder perse. These are medical terms/labels which are meaningless and misleading for following reasons:

1. There are no tests to diagnose them. So merely an opinion. Different ppl different diagnosis.

2.psych Medications are standard and given irrespective of diagnosis.
Do not go for allopathy you may lose him forever.

Ayurveda and homeopathy are holistic therapies where such terms/labeling does not matter.

Firstly you should describe his issues in detail from beginning. Height/weight.

Satvik diet along with dosha balancing diet and herbs go a long way in restoring mental health if not congenital.

Dear Mr. Tupne,

Thanks for your prompt response. I am describing here about his problem from start:
1. Since childhood he always have some abnormal habit like blinking of eyelid, rubbing of ear or nose of the person holding him etc. He was leaving one habit and catching some other habit.
2. After growing up to 4-5 years we noticed he feel fear to sleep alone, he always want some one to stay with him because of fear.
3. Since he starts going school he never mix up with other class mate except one or two. This habit is still continue till class 12th.
4. Teachers complaint, he is hiding himself.
5. Never disclosing what is running in his mind.
6. He is intelligent but never do hard work to achieve good marks in exams.
7. Since he has grown not started explaining his problems. Two years back he complaint about excessive sweating in his palm and increase in heartbeat when he face some one like school teacher or classmates. Also he explained that he always feel to cry.
8. We took him to psychiatrist who diagnosed OCD and started giving medicine. After few days he started showing improvement in mood and aggressiveness too. after one month of treatment he compliant about the Suicidal thoughts and one day he attempted by taking very high doses of medicine. Thanks God he has survived.
9. We changed the doctor and new doctor has diagnosed Borderline personality disorder. And prescribed medicine to prevent his mood swings.
10 Also giving medicine being prescribed for the purpose to prevent addiction. As he has habit to attract towards any item like Toy, helicopter which is no use for him. Once he decide to buy something he will not turn back. When his mood is ok he regret for buying these useless items.
11. Still his medication is going on, he always complaint about suicidal thoughts and Low or depressive mood.
12. He complains about excessive anger.

His height is 5'6" and weight approx 52 kgs

I am very much worried as he is going this year out from home for engineering degree. We don't want to handover medicine to him considering his suicidal behavior.

Some one help me to find the solution.

Perhaps Bapu (a homeopath)
Or dr thoufeeque can prescribe.

Side effects of quite a few psych meds are suicidal thoughts-especially in young people. He should start tapering off of this, with dr instructions as suddenly stopping after using for some time causes more major withdrawal symptoms.

Many homeopaths would start with some doses of nux vomica to help release the psych meds from his system and then go on to another remedy. Or find the right remedy now
And see effects while reducing the psych med.

You should list meds he had in past-
And what he is on now -dose and frequency. Paxil (USA name of one of these drugs ) had to pay huge fines
For masking drug effects to the doctors. Suicidal thoughts are advertised on tv here-USA-stop taking ! Other side effects, vision change, low energy cause depression .

Ok.

First things first.

In my opinion allopathic medications will ruin him over time. These are horrible and directly impact mind in unpredictable ways causing sleepiness, fatigue, dulling of emotions etc. Antipsychotics even lead to shrinking of brain. Not to mention horrible side effects and possible suicidal ideations.

My sincere advise is it is best not to send him away. It is a serious issue more so because he is on psyche medications. You should not risk it because with psychiatric medications there is no happy ending.Trust me on this one.

Pahla sukh nirogi kaya. Health comes first.

Now coming to your options.

First ask yourself was his condition so bad that it needed such psychiatric intervention?

Is he better or worse off?

Don't answer yourself .Ask your son. If he says he is not comfortable then trust him and discontinue ASAP.

I must tell you that these diagnosis will keep changing from OCD to Borderline to Bipolar to psychosis so on with worsening of issues. If he has any hope now to a normal life it will disappear.

Now treatment part.

Check his prakriti at holisticonline. Com under ayurveda section and report scores for vata pitta and kapha. Excess anger indicates excess pitta. However it could also be due to meds.

How's his digestion? Also diet he takes ? Any preference /addictions in diet? Any one in your family who has mental suffering? Also describe his tongue any coating/cracks/spots/teeth marks? ? Colour yellow/red??

Which of the following tastes does he prefers sweet sour salty bitter astringent pungent?

One thing that should absolutely help him is giloya/guduchi.Also called amrita. This herb is a medhya/nervine tonic. Simply wonderful.
