The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Dry cough, irritated throat, no allergies, non-smoker

Have been having bouts of dry cough that seems to provide some relief to what otherwise (at various times of the day) feels like a somewhat irritated throat. Irritation sensation is similar to what one feels after being exposed to some strong fumes that seem to go and hit the throat. Sometimes the irritation resembles that of a parched/very dry throat. This has been going on for few months now. Sucking on a lozenge helps, as does taking a small amount of cough syrup.

Earlier have had a sensation of some boils/bumps in throat. For which I visited a renouned ENT specialist at a hospital. He gave me 10days of anti-fungal medicine and a probiotic, multi-vitamin supplement for 3 weeks, which seemed to have solved the problem significantly, especially the feeling of boils/bumps in throat, and the feeling of hoarseness. The feeling of boils/bumps has not returned, but the sensation of irritation is back.

After a long talk, and sometime even while talking for 5-10mins, the throat irritation suddenly increases, until I've coughed hard for a while, after which it subsides. Sometimes, I do notice a small amount of clear phlegm that is emitted, but not always.

Wondering if I could benefit from homeopathy. I am 45yrs/Male, somewhat overweight (95Kgs at 6ft height) and spend less than 25% of time in air-condition environment and somewhat active (try to do minimum 50,000 steps each week, or about 5-6hrs of walk). I am not a smoker and not a drinker. I do consume some green-chillies with food at times, but otherwise do not consume a lot of spicy / oily food (as per Indian standards). My diet is vegetarian plus 10% milk-based (cottage cheese, curd, milk in tea etc.).

Other than this, no other major issues except perhaps from some lower back pain (which aggravates when I skip few days of exercise), and some pain in knees.

Thank you sir. I am ordering the dilutation today and should be able to start the course from Tuesday/Wednesday next week once I get those delivered.

Would appreciate if you could also clarify if:
- NUX VOM 200 should be stopped from DAY 2 ONWARDS ?
- Lachesis 200 is taken once on DAY 2, and then again after 3 days i.e. DAY 5 ?

Sir, I have received the 3 medicines today, and will start course from tomorrow. Sorry but could you clarify if NAT SULPH 6X 5-tabs, 3 times a day is to be had only on Day-2, or on every day when LACH 200 is taken ?

When I report back to you I would have done this:
- Day-1: NUX VOM 200
- Day-2: LACH 200 + nat sulph 6x
- Day-3: Nothing
- Day-4: Nothing, but report back

right ?

My apologies sir, as I completely forgot to get back. Looks like the medication and dosage suited quite well, and my situation regarding the throat (near-constant) irritation, went away completely. I followed exactly what was prescribed, and did not continue or take any dosage past this:

- Day-1: NUX VOM 200
- Day-2: LACH 200 + NAT SULPH 6X

Please let me know if I should restart or continue ?
