Remedy for Cold

I have had this cold for about 3-4 days now. It came on slowly, starting with an sore throat that was very bad at night but went away during the day. Then I started getting extremely tired. Then came a very stuffy nose. Yesterday it was starting to get better, but today it is much worse. I have an very stuffy nose, and stuffed up ears, so quite a bit of congestion. The sore throat is pretty much gone. Even when I have gotten a very good night sleep, I'm very very tired. I barely have enough energy to walk up the stairs or talk very loud. I was wondering if anyone could sugest a remedy. If any more information is needed, I'll be glad to give it.
Thanks!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
you take any over counter meds at all?

Nope. Sometimes when I get colds I'll try taking decongestants, but I've found they never work for me.

Sally Lue, are you particularly thirsty? If so, are you drinking at alot at one time or only a little?

No, actually, I'm not really thirsty at all. I know I need to drink something, so I've been making myself Echinacea tea.

I'm starting to be thristy more often, although I'm not very hungry.

Slow onset, lethargy and lack of thirst would indicate this might be a gelsemium cold. Have you read up on that remedy?

No I haven't, but I know I have it here already, so I'll go do a bit of research on that right now. Thanks so much for the suggestion!!! I'll definitely try it right now. I'll post my results as well.
Thanks again.

Gelsemium is a common flu remedy. This is what a gelsemium flu is like:

That sounds exactly like what I have, minus the fever. I took Gelsemium starting last night, and it's helped a ton. Thanks very much for your help!

Sally, that's excellent news!

As your cold progresses the symptoms may change significantly. If so, gelsemium might not be effective any more. There are some good clues here:
