Severe Tooth Pain

Hello!

I am a 39 year old woman with tooth pain, #18 bottom left 2nd molar. I had this tooth crowned (no root canal) two years ago. I generally get tooth ache across all bottom teeth (but mostly molars) one week leading up to my period. So, when this happened two weeks ago, I thought nothing of it. Then, out of the blue one week ago, I was dancing with my young kids and the tooth throbbed terribly and has been hurting since. There is no gum swelling, no gum redness, no sign at all of anything bad. I can get through most of the day on ibuprofen and it can be hardly there and then other times it flares for seemingly no reason. The sensation changes daily. Initially, it caused pain across my face bad enough to hurt while applying makeup. Often it feels sore in my jaw joint. Only recently I'm having sensitivity to warm and cool food and drink which results in nerve pain along the entire jaw.

BACKGROUND

Within a few months to a year after the crown procedure for this tooth, I felt few sharp, sporadic shooting pains in the tooth and had the dentist check -- he said he couldn't find any problems. It was, however, continually sensitive to cold drinks and food.

Last summer I had the same tooth on the opposite side extracted. It , too, had been crowned once extensive decay was eliminated about two years prior. That procedure left me taking pain medicine for 9 months, though -- it had a pulp cap applied and was questionable from the beginning as to if it would survive. Anyway -- this is important because I didn't have that tooth replaced on account of the fact that the area still aches when I get my period. I didn't want to pay an enormous amount of money to have a dental implant just to cause me ongoing problems. SO, I was relying on this left side molar to chew most of my food. My #19 bottom left 1st molar has been extracted and the equivalent on the right side has been recently crowned. All this extensive decay in these bottom molars occurred after the birth of my second son 6 years ago. I let it go too long before I visited a dentist.

WHAT I'VE ALREADY TRIED
I've got a pile of homeopathy bottles here on my desk! For my bottom right tooth (the one that's since been pulled), I took 200 c silica and that took care of the pain but almost immediately created a filled pocket on the gum which deflated randomly for about a year before the crown popped off and I had the tooth extracted. I've hesitated to use 200 c (or any potency) silica yet for that reason. I have tried: a fever/infection formula with a mix of 15x remedies, staphysagria 1m (because this tooth pain eruption came only days after I had a quantum biofeedback "emotional release" done on myself -- and, this remedy heals any UTI I develop after intercourse), merc vivus 1m (because I had it on hand), 6c hepar sulph (because that's everything I can find online for this concern), 200 c hekla lava purchased recently and took maybe 3 or 4 doses, belladonna 30c, mag phos 30c (this took the face/ear pain away and localized the pain in the tooth area quite profoundly). I'm also using a host of gum oils, essential oils and supplementation like B12 for nerve health -- not in a way that would interfere with the homeopathic remedies, of course. I've also been taking goldenseal and an herbal formula for infection of all types.

Of all those remedies, only the mag phos seems to have changed the symptoms of this pain.

I have 200 C hepar sulph and 200 c silica being delivered today and pyrogen 200 c being delivered in a few days as a last resort and hoping someone can advise they are worth a try? I have access to many 30c remedies locally, but will need to wait 2-5 days to order any lower or higher potency remedies.

Anything you could offer would offer hope, as I have run out of options for self care.

If I have this tooth extracted (I won't get a root canal), I will need to replace it with an implant. Because I get that monthly tooth/jaw pain, this option makes me very wary. PLUS, I'm now horrified of the dentist! I will need to be sedated to have that procedure done again. They need to stick me 3-5 times directly in the nerve just to get me numb! And, it wears off very quickly. It's plainly a very traumatic experience each and every time. For what it's worth to the situation, I had two c-sections to deliver my boys. Each time, "normal" anesthetics wouldn't do. I always felt the pain and pressure through the meds.

NAT MUR 30 THREE TIMES A DAY.

FEEDBACK AFTER 7 DAYS.

I am wary to reply too positively too quickly because the nature of this toothache has been "up" and "down" in a dramatic way throughout, but I do believe that WITH ONLY ONE DOSE of 30 c nat mur, there has been a significant shift. I read about that a lot -- "one dose and done" remedy selections -- but only had the experience twice in 6 years. It is truly amazing.

My message indicated a difficulty to obtain anything by 30c. I still haven't checked yet, but I think it's possible I do already have 200 c nat mur here. If so, should I stick with the 30c? THANK YOU!

Sorry to be a pest. :) I just wanted to clarify that the "significant shift" has been a complete eradication of the nerve pain around my tooth! My jaw feels great and none of the surrounding areas of the tooth are painful at all! I'm thinking perhaps it's because of the strain that has been on it, but now there is a great tenderness with pressure. If my tongue touches it or food, etc. I would describe it as tender. I won't bite down hard enough to determine if it's "painful". I've only had the two doses of nat mur though, so maybe this is just a matter of being patient. I wanted to run it by you, just in case.

This has been truly amazing. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

One more piece of critical information is aggravation at 3pm through the evening. Always much better morning and early afternoon. Today as well even after nat mur success, throbbing tooth when ascending stairs.

HAVE A WEEKLY DOSE OF SULPHUR 200 EARLY MORNING EMPTY STOMACH.

DO NOT HAVE ANY REMEDY ON THAT DAY.

FROM NEXT DAY ONWARDS COMMENCE NM.AND GIVE A FEEDBACK AFTER 4 DAYS.

Morning is difficult. :( excruciating pain upon any body movement, didn’t sleep, numb cheek and lower lip after cold pack was applied, 1600mg ibuprofen every 4 hours, pain extending up to cheek again, have ordered 200c sulfur that will arrive tomorrow

Also slightly swollen gums but still no leakage or bubble

START MASSAGING THE GUMS WITH A PINCH OF POWDERED POTASH ALUM IN THE MORNING AND NIGHT FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES THEN RINSE.

anuj srivastava 3 years ago
Thanks! Will get some and do that today. Wanted to update though because this changes so profoundly and often. I ate a small cereal bar I could take more ibuprofen and applied warm compress. Tooth is as good now as It was yesterday afternoon after nat mur! Less raised, less swollen, no pain in jaw and less numbness in lip. Slight pain extending down left side of neck and up to temple. Forehead headache despite ibuprofen. Laying down without aggravation right now.

Yet as soon as ibuprofen wears off, it changes again. Painful in general with very numb front lower left lip. Haven’t done alum massage yet.

lisamarie1081 3 years ago
Can’t get alum powder locally. Front lower chin and lip painfully numb all day extending from affected tooth to middle of smile.

Have you managed to get sulphur.

If you have nux vom 30 have it three to four times.

anuj srivastava 3 years ago
I have sulphur 30c but waiting on 200c until tomorrow evening and I have nux 200 but not 30.

I’d like to try either of these you think but if no improvement I need to visit the dentist tomorrow because I’m concerned about the numbness, it is profound. And frankly I’m so tired from contending with pain. :( every 2.5 hrs as ibuprofen wears off the numbness becomes painful and tingly. Front teeth are all numb on that side. My jaw joint feels tight like spasm.

lisamarie1081 3 years ago
HAVE A DOSE OF NUX 200 AND START SULPHUR 30 THREE TIMES AFTER A FEW HOURS.

anuj srivastava 3 years ago
Thank you. I will update. How much time between sulphur doses?

lisamarie1081 3 years ago
3 HOURS

anuj srivastava 3 years ago
Also just curious, are you suggesting nux to null the other medicines or to assist with the current symptoms?

lisamarie1081 3 years ago
NULL THE ILL EFFECT OF THE PAIN KILLERS AND GIVE RELIEF TO THE EXISTING ISSUES.

anuj srivastava 3 years ago
I was able to feel actual twitches in my face upon taking nux which did relieve some of the numb sensation. Having taken one dose of sulfur 30 since, the numbness stretching into my neck is gone and my lip feels very cold like when anesthetic wears off. But it is happening so slowly and very painful. I’m not sure I can avoid more painkillers. Will continue sulfur twice more each 3 hours, checking back after each. I think we are in different time zones though. It’s 526Am here, haven’t slept at alll ....

lisamarie1081 3 years ago
My 200c sulfur should arrive after 3pm est. should I take a dose of that when it arrives or wait to provide feedback? It’s been 5 hrs since I took ibuprofen and still in considerable discomfort but trying my best to weather the storm.

lisamarie1081 3 years ago
Start with Sulphur 30,since you already have it.

Have Nux to ward off the ill effects of the pain killer.

anuj srivastava 3 years ago
Sorry, I don’t follow. What are the ill effects of the painkiller? How do I know when I need to use nux?

lisamarie1081 3 years ago
For as much relief asi felt when I last wrote, that’s how aggravated my symptoms are now .... such pain. Haven’t taken ibuprofen in nearly 6hrs so I think I have to now just to cope.

lisamarie1081 3 years ago
Also very thirsty!

lisamarie1081 3 years ago
I have tea called “cup of calm” which contains chamomile, peppermint, spearmint, and lavender. A war moist bag of that helps quell these surges of pain I get. I thought just now to tell you my teeth history as it might apply. When I was 21, a visit to the dentist became intolerable. Scraping plaque from my gum line on every bottom tooth caused piercing pain. Even if I felt food stuck and reached back with my finger to remove it it’d cause me to wince. Years 18-21 were consumed with grief and all kinds of emotions due to family and career concerns. In my recent biofeedback emotional release session, depression and grief were the most pronounced emotions revealed. Prior to this tooth incident I was indeed in deep depression since the new year. I had only come out of it about one week when this occurred. I can’t help but feel this is all originating from emotions. Further, the day of the super bowl I noticed a spot on my cheek, diagonal between my nose and lip that was very sore to touch. I’ve since noticed that pushing on it at all exacerbates my condition now. It seems it was brewing in the nerve or meridian for a while before involving the tooth .... if it has even involved the tooth. Just sharing. :) Still shaking in discomfort....ran out of pain reliever until stores open .... thank you again. This is keeping me very hopeful.
