Any news from your brother ?

Has he started on the Arnica therapy ?

You may recommend it to his wife as it will also help her.

Joe De Livera last decade
Not yet.
He is sober for 4 days.
I will tell his wife to also start the remedy.
Thank you a lot.

Hi, Amalia,

Your brother is right - it is very hard to find and choose a good sponsor, especially when you are new to a group.

I confess, I did not have a good sponsor in AA.

Probably the best advice I might offer is for your brother to talk to a couple of people in the group who have been there - and sober - for quite awhile, and see what man those two people really admire in the group. That might give your brother a good idea of who to ask to be his sponsor.

Your brother should have a male sponsor, not a female, if at all possible.

If your brother cannot decide who might be a good sponsor for him, he could still get phone numbers from a few people at AA so he can call them if he needs to talk to someone. That can work, too.

Four days! Very good! Bless him for his effort!

Also, good to hear you, your brother and his wife are reading the Big Book. It is the foundation of AA.

Do you know if your brother has already started on the Arnica therapy ?

I have many alcoholics who have used this remedy which has helped them to stop liquor completely.

I am sure that AA will help your brother but he does not need to join the group to start on the Arnica 30c in the wet dose.

For Joe De Livera,
No, my brother didn't start yet the Arnica therapy, beacuse he didn't receive yet the remedy.
But why Arnica for him, why Arnica for me and his wife?

For me and my husband treatment is premature to report any changes since we have just 3 days of treatment.

Thank you.

I have observed that Arnica has a very positive effect on anyone who uses it.
The first reaction one notices is that one
sleeps deeper and wakes up fully rested and I believe that this is the basis of its curative effect on the body especially as one ages.

You may like to know that I am 76 years old and have taken Arnica for the last 10 years and have a low BP of 120/80 pulse 65 and have often been mistaken for a person 25 years younger. I have given this remedy to many hundreds of my friends and they all confirm that a teaspoonful of the remedy nightly has helped them in many ways.

Among the many uses of Arnica that I have observed is its affect on both alcoholics and chronic smokers who have been unable to quit the habit till they used Arnica and discovered that they do not want to drink or smoke anymore as they lacked the desire.

All you will need is just 3 pellets of the remedy and a bottle of spring water and you have a very effective remedy at hand which can be used for about 3-4 months.

Hi Amalia

Can you tell me the reason why your husband wished to use Rhus Tox 30c ?

Joe De Livera last decade
Hello Mr De Livera,
My husband start 3 days ago, as you suggested, treatment with Rhus Tox for knees pain.

Amalia

amalia last decade
I note that you are using Rhus Tox 30Ch for your husband'e knee pain.

This potency cannot help and this is what I prescribed:

'For your husband you can use Rhus Tox 200c or Ch in the wet dose. I teaspoonful twice daily should help him.'

Please note that the precise potency prescribed must be used and always in the WET DOSE. The potencies used in the dry dose in pellets cannot equate the potencies in the wet dose.

You are advised to follow instructions.

Joe De Livera last decade
Mr De Livera,
Thanks a lot.
I will change the potency for Rhus Tox.
Yes I will give him wet dose; but what is the difference between granules and wet dose?

I took Arnica, in wet dose. I have bad headache, with fullness of ears sensation and numbness around the ears, sometimes for weeks, agravated by stress. Do you think that Arnica treatment will help this problem?

Amalia

amalia last decade
You obviously know all about the WET and DRY doses that I prescribe for various remedies. Please confirm that you have made the Arnica in the recommended manner.

To make the wet dose you insert 3 pellets or if they are granules about 6 granules into a 500ml bottle of spring water which is succussed prior to each dose.

It is possible that your chronic headache can be resolved by the Arnica and you can see for yourself if it does so.

However if it does not, I shall recommend another remedy in a few days.

Amalia, what a wonderful story - about your brother going to an AA meeting BEFORE he went to the liquor store, and then having the strength to go straight home instead.

You are an inspiration, Amalia. You have helped your brother, his wife, and yourself a great deal in the past week.

I agree with your brother - AA is amazing.

Thank you for keeping me updated. I truly hope this is a new beginning for many in your family.

Hello Tracy,
Thank you for asking me about my brother.
He was sober for 8 days, drunk for 4 days, sober for another 2 days.
Today I don't know and I am afraid to call him.
He refuse to accept that he is an alcoholic and he refuse to go to AA meeting.
He believe that he can hadle with aocohol problems.
Maybe is just a phase, denial phase, and in the next future he will ask for help, again.
He works 12 hours shift, 3 days / week. In those days he cannot drink, but when he is at home, he doesn't want to stop.
I hope everything will be fine for him, in the future.I will move there and I will try to help him.
Thanks again.

Hello Mr De Livera,
My brother start few days ago Arnica therapy but he is not consequent with the treatment.
He still drinks some days..
I have a goos sleep after Arnica.
My husband take Rhus Tox for knees pain, and still has the pain, but maybe because we are living in Vancouver, BC and the humidity is high, is raining almost every day.
Thank you for your help.

To Amalia,

I find it difficult to understand the reason why your brother's wife or his children do not assist in rehabilitating your alcoholic brother. Surely this is also in their own interest. All that it needed is to remind him to take the teaspoonful at least twice daily and he will in a few days notice the lack of the compulsion to have that next drink.

As you know alcoholism is a disease and I believe that Arnica 30c is perhaps the best remedy to help him to overcome his craving. This has helped many alcoholics and your brother too will be helped if only he takes his daily dose.

Is your husband taking the Rhus Tox 200c in the wet dose for his arthritis ? This has helped many and hopefully it should help your husband. Is he taking coffee ? This will antidote the remedy.

Joe De Livera last decade
Amelia
Are you taking the homeopathy in the wet dose per Joe's exact instructions? In my experience, wet dose is much more effective than using dry pellets.

Your brother sounds like he is very sick and someone actually needs to be handing him the Arnica so that he will take it. As sick as he is, this simple task could be a very big one for him to handle alone.

Hi, Amalia -

Thanks for the updates. I'm sure you are disappointed that your brother is struggling so much with this. It must be very difficult for him because of his nearly-daily habit of drinking. I confess that I was a 'binge' drinker and did not drink every day. Big difference, and much harder for people like your brother.

I don't know if this will be of any help, but I can tell you something that my father did to help himself.

Before my father quit drinking, he never drank 'soft drinks' or soda pop, unless there was booze mixed in, of course.

So, when he quit drinking, I remember that we had cases and cases of Dr. Pepper (soft drink) stacked up, and lots in the refrigerator. When my father wanted to drink, he drank a Dr. Pepper. It was a familiar action and was therefore comforting and gave him something to do that was similar to the alochol habit.

I'm sure Dr. Pepper was chosen because I don't know of any alcoholic drinks that are mixed with Dr. Pepper. So he would not be tempted to add alcohol. It would taste terrible!!

At some point, my father quit drinking Dr. Pepper. I'm not sure when. But he used it as a bit of a 'crutch' until he didn't need that crutch anymore.

Now, I should say that I think 'soft drinks' or fizzy drinks are thought to antidote some homeopathic remedies. So maybe soda-pop type drinks would not be a good choice. But there are many other options out there that might be helpful.

Another thing that my father did was he started eating more candy and nuts in the evenings watching TV - again, this was something for him to do instead of drink.

My father never did get rid of his sweet tooth! But he had a sweet tooth as long as I can remember. Until the day he died, he had this little 'nest' of candies and sweets by his TV chair.

And you know what? None of us in the family cared that Dad maybe ate too much candy or drank too much soda for awhile. Because, you see, we had our father back. He was spiritually right with the world, and enjoyed his life in ways he could not have done as a practicing alcoholic.

I think we all would have been perfectly willing to tolerate some pretty strange habits and behaviors from our father if we could just live in a household that was sane and something resembling 'normal'.

Even if your brother is struggling, the 'seeds' have been planted in his mind and heart about the fact that he has a problem. Those seeds may have to grow for awhile.

I tell you, after attending AA meetings, most alcoholics can never again enjoy drinking like they did. Because they know the truth. And in many cases, knowing that truth will lead them back to freedom from the alcohol. As you have read in the books you have read, this does not happen for everyone. Try to allow time for God and the truth to work in your brother's heart.

Hang in there, Amalia....
