thyroid problems

Hello to all...I have a question regarding my father. He had hyperthyroidism a couple of months back. He went to a allopathic doctor and he ended up giving him radio active iodine basically killing part of the thyroid! I told him that homeopathy can help but he also smokes and I want him to stop or reduce his smoking while on homeopathy...long story short he got thatdone and now he went to the doctor yesterday and his doc told him that he might now have hypothyroidism. I did read that 70% of the cases this happens. My question...can homeopathy help his case even after what he did with the radio active iodine?
thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
forgot to mention he smoke, and he does complain about aching muscles when he gets up from sitting for a while...gets better as he keeps moving. other that the problem above he has no other complaints.

I try to give my family homeopathy but since Im just a student of homeopathy I don't know much yet.

DEar Jose,
If you had given homeopathic doses of Iodium....before he went for allopathic treatment, this thing wudn't have happened.

Dear Pankaj,
I didn't administer Iodine before this treatment. It is possible to start homeopathic treatment now. I talked to him and they started him on levothyroxine 0.100mg. I wanted to read his case and maybe start some type of treatment. can you suggest?

Dear Jose

Dont use any allopathic medicine for glandular disorders, I am a hypothyroid patient( much better than before), and i dont take any allopathic medicines, they render your gland inactive. Following are the homeopathic medicines, your father might take : thyroidinum, tuberculinum bovinum, calcarea carb, iodium, phytolacca berry.
Please present your father's case in detail, and anyone of the surfing homeopath can take your case.
Do not, under any circumstances, take the above medicines without consulting a homeopath first.

Best regards

sazim

For hyperactivity...normally start with Iodium.

Post current symptoms..will try to analyse the case.

These are my fathers information...

He is 66yr old. He is a smoker. He was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was given radio active iodine and now the doctor believes he has hypothyroidism so he was rx synthroid 0.100mg. His symptoms have been, weight gain, hunger. He gets back spasams from time to time. Its lower back and he said it feels like the muscles tear apart. He tends to be very serious type of person. Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you!

There has been an excess of Iodine treatment...let it stabalise on its own.

For back ache ...give him Acid Phos 6X or 12X three times a day.

Has he got a smoker's cough ??

So in the mean time I don't give anything. Cause the radio active iodine basically burns a portion of the thyroid so it doesn't produce enough hormones thus making him hypo rather than hyper.

He does have a cough but I really think its more of a nervous cough. He doesn't like to do things for himself (i.e. go to the store alone) Talk to people for the first time. Things like this. I have noticed that when he is about to do something new he gets this cough. My brother is somewhat the same. He gets nervous if he has to go do something out of his routine. He will get an upset stomach. I've told him to take nux v. which helps him but temporarely.

Did you think of Baryta Carb or Spongia Tosta....both are for regulating the working of the glands as well as throat.

You can think of giving in alteration..both the meds.

Besides, those symptoms ...lot like Baryta Carb.

I thought about spongia tosta. I will read materia medica on both of them and see which fits him best.

Thanks so much pankaj! Like I have mentioned, Im just a student of homeopathy...it try to help my family and friends but I learn as I go.
