Please Help! Enlarged adenoids
Hi my son was 5 yrs old when he had chronic/enlarged tonsils and it was advised after ENT specialists saw him that he has both tonsils and adenoids removed as they were probably in the same condition. He would stop breathing at night and would cough to get breath again. After operation, he stopped snoring and breathed a lot better. After a few months we noticed that he always sounding like he had a cold yet when we blew his nose nothing came out. He breathes through mouth and I explained my concern to Dr who xrayed and found the adenoids were still there and quite enlarged. ENT only took part adenoids so I was in shock to find this out as I thought it may be sinus but low and behold adenoids still there. He is using a Nasonex spray which has helped him breath which leads to allergies. I would like to not use the cortisone spray if possible. Please help as I do not want him to go through an operation again.miomum on 2006-07-18
This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Adenoids are only enlarged because they are workig hard!!.
I am sure that the adenoides were removed -- but the body objected to this crude treatment and insisted on using its own judgement of the best course of action.
It REGREW the adenoids.
Do NOT operate again.
