4 yr old has allergies but vomits due to phlegm buildup

My son is 4 yrs old and seemed to always get colds. A new Dr. said it was actually allergies and prescribed Zyrtec. It seems to help but he always has the worst cough and nothing seems to help the cough. He also end up vomitting at least 2 to 4 times during the period of illness, I thinkg from the build up of phlegm on his stomach. (I can't convince him to spit it out - yet)

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
zrytak not proper treatment.--better remove from use--allow symptoms pure expression and base treatmnet on such-- but case history and appropriate symptomolgy must be noted and recorded--so as determine course of action.

He seemed to get cold like symptoms every couple of months. Red, watery eyes, runny or stopped up nose, ALWAYS has a cough. We used to treat it as a cold and have used all the cold medicines and our first Dr. said to give him an extended long-lasting cough syrup (didn't work), vicks vapour rub, the patches, steam - you name it. Nothing seemed to help the cough. And he would always end up vomitting. Our new Dr. took one look and said it was allergies and to give him the Zyrtec, as needed. The bouts usually last about two weeks from start to finish and the Zyrtec seems to help a little with the rest of the symptoms but not the cough. He also coughs more when hot. He had croup one time when he was little. I just don't want this to go too long and turn into some type of asthma. I am allergic to cats and dogs, dust mites, some grasses and cottonwoods. My husband has no allergies to my knowledge but was born with a cleft lip and palet.

The little guy has always had an issue with vomitting. He will have like a coughing fit and then vomits. This also happens when he is really upset and crying really hard he will vomit. Like he has a quick gag reflex.
When he is sleeping and if it gets warm in the room he will get to coughing. I try to keep him cool and his head a bit elevated when he is sleeping.
He has been having these cold like symptoms at least since he was 12 months of age. I have asked and asked about my son having allergies and my original Dr. said kids could not have allergies at that age.

Your post which was at the top of the page interested me and it occurred to me that there is a possibility of your son having some problem associated with the formation of phlegm in a pocket in the lung which is not easily cured.

I have had 2 patients who had similar symptoms and I prescribed Nat Sulph 6c in the wet dose which worked admirably well and cured their cough in under 24 hours.

You can read all about this on:

I have another suggestion if Dr. De Livera's Nat Sulph Rx is not fully successful...

Is your son vaccinated? If so, he may have Post Vaccination Syndrome. If he has had the DTP shot, you may try 30c DTP. Melt 5 pellets in 8 oz. glass of water. Stir, give 1-2 tsp. in a.m. and p.m. for two days.

See more info at tinussmits dot com.

Hunters mom !

Just give the little guy ANTIM TART. 30C

Three (half doses...three pellets) at interval of 45 minutes. No more.

In the next 12 to 18 hours he will expel most of the phlem lodged in the lungs.
Then onwards he will be on the road to cure.

Do it quickly coz this is a well proven med for such a problem.
best wishes,
