This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
a few ounces of warm prune juice once or twice a day should do the trick. Gerber makes some especially for baby, as the commercial stuff is so strong tasting, though you could dilute that with sterile water.

try a bit of baby massage too, focusing on the legs, pumping them and 'riding a bike', as well, tummy time aids digestion.

hopefully, once the baby is a little older, his immature digestive system will kick in. Constipation can be a vicious circle, the baby holds back because it hurts, and then he becomes even more constipated.

Try this first, give it a 3 or 4 days to work before you consider glycerine suppositories, as they don't really deal with the problem directly, rather just the outcome.

good luck

thanks you betty for writing. i will try the prune juice today. i gave him nux vomica yesterday but no results yet. he is straining himself but still no bowel movement. i dont want to give him laxative, lets see if the prune juice helps. i have been doing the massages and leg exercises for him too.

i finally tried nux vomica for him and it worked great!!

i have heard so much about this forum. i thought there are lot of people here tying to help out people like me who does not believe in conventional allopathy medicines. needless to say i am thoroughly disappointed at the response......

I just saw your post.

These days many people are expecting a response like the working of a slot machine.

The numbers of help seekers are also going up.

Whilst, the number of people willing to help here is reducing day by day .....

Any way ...we live in a thankless world....cannot alter it !

As far as your baby is concerned...Nux Vomica is good...but even better would be two doses of Silicea 6c or 30C in a gap of one hour before the baby goes to sleep in the night.

Best wishes,

hi pankaj,
please do not think you guys are doing a thankless job. i hope you can understand the frustration of a mother when her child is in distress. allopathy is quick result oriented, but u have to battle with the after effects for life. i love homeopathy but live in a country where there are very few good doctors. this site has a good reputation coz of the good doctors or advisers.

lets look at it this way, i asked for help 5days ago and except for one person, no one wrote back. today i expressed my feelings (if i am disappointed, i can say i am disappointed, cant i?) and there are 3 responses.

we do appreciate your help a lot, my husband is a regular here. and thank you for suggesting sillicea, i will try that next time.

joe, i gave him nux vomica 30c. one dose only.

since he also has a cough, i gave him bryonia for the next 2days which also helped him with the constipation.

Thank you for the information.

A word of caution about using Bryonia. I have observed that it promotes constipation in adults.
