ADHD

Hello - Any information on how homeopathy treatment can help children with ADHD? What should be given to a child that has trouble concentrating in class or staying still, hard time to do homework specially writing? Also what would the dose be and how is administered? Can the homeopathy remedies be given at the same time with medicines such as Adderall or Straterra? Can more than one sympton be treated? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
ADHD would need to be treated with constitutional remedies, thus needing a homeopath to take a detailed case. I have heard that it can successfully be treated.

I've read a number of articles recently that suggest that the symptoms of ADHD might have different causes for different kids.
Check into food allergies, too. Is there food that your child was allergic to as a baby that you thought they had "grown out of" like cow's milk, wheat?
Just a thought...this is where we are searching now.

I believe your child can be healed with Homeopathic treatment. A comprehensive analysis would have to be performed this can be lengthy on the first time. It also can be a slow process as the illness did not happen overnight. The health will be strengthened and it is non toxic.
Check to find a Homeopath in your area.

You may want to check out the book Ritalin-Free Kids by the Ullmans. The first poster is right, though. Treatment for ADHD is at the constitutional level, requiring an experienced, professional homeopath. The homeopath will determine the appropriate remedy and potency. Constitutional remedies generally last weeks. The usual form is a sugar-based tablet. Homeopathic remedies can be given at the same time as other medicines, but the other medicines may make prescribing difficult. Homeopathy is a holistic medical system, and thus strives to treat ALL of the person's symptoms.

My son has begun this process and it is definitely helping him, above and beyond the Clonidine he is taking, which only "takes the edge off."

I have had ADHD all my life.
I have many different things to treat them. The most successful have been chiropractic work for my coordination and homeopathy. I am not where I want to be but homeopathy is edging me closer. I would think my constitutional remedy would be Natrum Muriaticum. I put in all the symptoms and I think it does reflect my personality. I am just not sure on dosage and all that, so I am taking a 30 C for a week or two and see how it goes... But it is seeming to have some effect....

Has anyone seen the study: 'Early Television Exposure and Subsequent Attentional Problems in Children'?

The study found that a lot of attention problems come from watching TV before the age of 5. The brain is still developing at this stage and as so much changes so quickly on TV (ie 30 second commercials, constantly changing pictures, sounds, etc), the brain gets used to rapidly changing stimuli. This also helps explain why ADHD is a 'new' disorder.

I have seen that study and agree but there is also a very strong genetic link. They are getting closer to finding the gene that applies as they have for alcoholism. The body is an amazing puzzle that doctors little understand. It always amazes me what is not known.

I strongly recommend reading several books on the subject from your library. There is new information all the time.

There are several kinds of ADHD. I have had limbic ADHD since childhood. In my case I cannot multitask, but I can concentrate tremendously by closing off the rest of the world. I finished a two year MA in one year because of this ability. I have never been hyperactive, but am easily distracted.

You can see that exact symptoms matter.
