The BC your doctor suggested is Baryta Carb and not bi-carb.It is one of the well known medicines for tonsils.
He selected one most prominent medicine each,for each of your child's problems,just like allopathic doctors.
What an irresponsible way to prescribe.I still seethe with anger whenever I see your post.

What is the current state?
is the baby sneezing? fever? digestive problems? colour/ consistancy of nasal discharge? coating on tongue?
breathing difficulty? irritability or any other mood changes?
Dont give Calc till this acute attack clears up.

Murthy, because you have asked me things about my training, I feel free to mention a couple of things to you here.
We must always speak in the language of the student. So biochemic is not a word that creates calm in the uninformed. It could be alarming and sound allopathic.
We have no cause to believe tonsils or any other illness except a problem with the throat/nose/ears when we gather these symptoms on this post. We do not want mothers to run out and buy Baryta Carb for imagined tonsilitis. I have seldom used it for small children. More for older.
Then, homeopathy has always been called "remedies." We would like mothers to differentiate between remedies and medicine. "Medicine" may cause some to think of allopathic medicine.
While I do not dissagree with you, it is a matter of clearing the way for mothers and other people to give their symptoms in a concise way without being all confused with the language between what they have been raised with and their choice to try homeopathy for their families.

Thanks Sabra and Murthy, for clearing things for me. I will give him BELLADONNA 30X tonight and report back.
I have been giving him Vitamin B Complex chewable. I will look for Vitamine C and Zinc too.

If there is Dry blocked nose only at night with fluent watery coryza during day , if irritability is marked and if the child is chilly , Nux is the best choice.
If the baby is aggravated in warm room and is better in open air,the above remedy covers this modality. A thick whitish coating on tongue confirms it.
For Belladonna , you almost always have EXTEREMELY HOT RED face and head in acute cases... your description doesnt say that.

He does not like to be covered.
No he does not have HOT RED face and head.
BTW his runny nose has subsided a lot. It is bit thick and less now.

Yes, I was talking about Nux Vomica. But it helps fluent watery coryza (during the day) and stuffed up nose at night. If your child hates to be covered, that goes against Nux.
If the picture has changed ( so rapidly) , may be his body is taking care of the cold on its own !!!

No , I wont advice to give Calcarea till he improves ( Calcarea can help to cure the TENDENCY if that is the correct constitutional remedy of your son, and if it is , then it should not be given in an acute episode )

Whew, just reread the whole thing. Belladonna is a sicker child with fever and wants to be covered up even if hot.
CARBO VEG is good for less sick child that prefers to kick off covers and likes to be fanned.
Well we have hit a lot of remedies that seem good.

However,now a days,they are commonly used as some sort of homeopathic vitamins,if I may say so,along with the homeopathic medicine.
Your second question regarding treating a child.
Depends on the age of the patient.If she is being breastfed,some recommend the mother to take the indicated remedy.
Otherwise,you can dissolve two pellts in about two to three tablespoons of water,and give it to the child.
Never give dry pellets to small childern,as there is a possibility of their entering the lungs,and causing complications.

Some mothers don't know anything about homeopathy,and it is difficult for them to follow their instincts,as they don't have any.
As far as possible,I prefer to indicate the precise course of action,rather than telling them a couple of medicines,and leaving it to them to choose.
All may not be capable of doing it.

2. Nosey none or 1 or 2 times (it seems more like everything is inside, not coming out)
3. In the night at around 11 he started coughing and vomited what he had for dinner. After that he slept nicely, still nose was blocked tho. He is not coughing when he is awake.

11-26-04 update --calc carb 200 given 4 pills once a morning...
11-28-04 update--confirmed have stopped repetition of calc carb--and cold like symptoms have ocured
the data above concerning return of cold or cold like symptomology is possible response/effect to calc carb---if cold as typical then and symptoms not too severe or intense then allow its course of action---but if too intense in truth--then nux-v 200c single dose will help settle -(only if truly is respopnse to calc-c)....but will also stall any good that calc-c would do....the severity is the key----allow no medicines if not too severe..

He is not suffering a lot. It looks mild. He is very active too. Yeah that is why I said my instint says not to give any remedy for now. I will keep your suggestion in mind if there any severity occurs.

if fine ,then no other remedies--allow natural vitality work to establish balance using only dietary restrictions and supplementations..---symptoms will dictate.remedy choice -as to when needed.
