Indigestion after using Tramadol

I was recently in an accident and was in extreme pain, so this doctor perscribed Tramadol. After reading, I discovered it is similar to opioid narcotics like morphine and blocks the reception of pain in your brain.

I took ONE DOSE and got horrible indigestion. It feels like there is an acid pump in my body pumping acid into my stomach at 3 second intervals. There are pains in my stomach, it feels like my stomach is contracting, my chest is tight, I am belching and I am passing gas. I have tried taking antacids in various forms and they do not help. Belching and passing gas do not help. Spicy food (even mildly spiced) makes it worse but I've never had a problem with spicy food before.

I feel better sitting up (really worse laying down) and the only thing that helps some is milk, a substance that normally upsets my stomach and causes indigestion. In fact, I never drink or use milk at all until this happened.

Of course I've stopped taking the drug and will never do so again, but this indigestion won't go away or get better. I've never had problems with indigestion at all until this.

Please suggest a remedy that will get my body back in balance. I am 100% certain this is only as a result of the drug I took.

Hi Elliecats,

My experience with Tramadol was still worse. I had severe nausea, headache and drowsiness. I vomitted a few times. It was a horrible experience. I took a dose of Nux Vom 30C on three consecutive nights, as advised by my Doctor. This cured me completely.

However, you would do well to seek the advice from more experienced homeopaths on this forum.

Wow, that sounds awful! I'm glad you were able to heal it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I would definetly describe my nausea as severe. I'd been very tired and have a headache as well, but I chalked that up to the fact I was hurt in the accident... after reading your story I am beginning to think it was Tramdol that did that too.

I'll check into the Nux Vom, ask around and read, because this is just miserable and I'm really ready to try anything.

Thanks again!
