How many doses for acute problems?
It is a question in many minds. If you don't get total relief within 6 doses, you can safely assume,it did whatever it can,and look for new medicine, which should be a complimentary for the first one.
In cases, where repetetion is required, even after every 15 minutes, this is the rule.
In acute problems, the symptom picture may change frequently, and medicine should not be repeated, without taking the case afresh.
6 doses, maximum of any one medicine.

Murthy,
As per your theory and learning:
If medicine is benefiting you ....in acute cases how long and how frequently can you take the med?
Any standard rules?
Best,

Dear Pankaj
If the medicine gave you relief, you are not supposed to repeat it,unless the severity is increasing, without change in symtoms.
Suppose you get a severe headache. You take a medicine. You get some relief.Don't repeat. After an hour, the intensity is rising again.repeat.If this sequence is continuing beyond 6 doses, then that medicine, will no longer benefit you.You have to look for another medicine.
Since the first medicine worked partially, the following one, will most likely be a complimentary,or a follower.
I have a few books on treating emergencies with homeo medicines, and these are the norms they gave.
I can give you the references in the evening.

After giving 6 doses there is apparent cure.
After one month symptoms again return.....are you saying don't give the medicine ??

If they are returning after one month, the theory says repeat the same potency. You can repeat the same potency 3 times.
If the problem persists, with the same symptoms, then after three trials with the same potency, you have to go to the next potency.
30,200,1M,10M,50M,CM,DM,MM.
This is the suggested order.

Dear Pankaj
The book is "Homeopathy 102-What to do in emergency before help arrives".
By Eileen Naumen
Published by Health Harmony. The website given is www.bjainindia.com
It is in page no.4
"If conscious,do what you can as outlined in this book, and they can apply the drop of the remedy into their own mouths. One drop beneath the tongue, and then every fifteen minutes therafter.
The normal dosage is SIX times.(capitals not mine.)"
And she goes on telling that in the worst case, you can go upto 12doses,but beyond that there is the danger of proving.
So,for normal times,the max.limit is SIX times.
She also talks about olfaction, rubbing on the skin etc..
As you are aware,in non emergency acute cases, the remedy should start acting within an hour,if it is suitable,so there is no point in going beyond 6 doses. If there is no relief whatsoever, hunt for a new medicie.
Astra,This is for you
She also talks "under the tongue"
Read Joe's post In today's Newyork Times. There also it says "under the tongue."
So,under the tongue is a standard,better practice.
