Thuya is ok.
Read on the bottle how much is a dose.

Hello Astra 2012

I have given Fred the dry dose of Thuja 30x. The first day it seemed to soften the mass and the massaging was a lot more productive. Then it stopped. I waited at least a week and went through the process again without much help. I know I should have sought your advice before adventuring on my own.

Fred will not eat the flax oil on cottage cheese. He won't even eat the cottage without the flax now. I do put it on his meals now and that is acceptible to him.

THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE.

fredkiwi last decade
it was a 'pilot' dose of Thuya--to see how he and it agree. What you nee to do now is preparing the wet dose of Thuya 30x. I copied the previous iretions:

Get thuya 30x, drop one dose (usually 5 pellets) in the half liter bottle half filled with water, mix well until pellets dissolve,-this is your ss=stock solution, or rsb=remedy solution bottle.

Every day, half an hour at least after his night meal, succuse ss 10x (pound at the palm of other hand- this 'funny' way you potentize the remedy making it a bit stronger), take about teaspoon to half glass of water, mix, give him a teaspoon of that and discard the rest.

Do you know 'Spoontaneous healing' by dr. Andrew Weil. He successfully treated his dogs's tumor by appplying on it the BLOOROOT (herb) paste!
(in that case fortunately the tumor was placed beyond the reach of the dog's tongue)

Sampath: I did open a new thread for you! Here yu could easily be overlooked...

Astra2012 last decade
Hello
I will follow your new instructions.
How do I make a bloodroot paste? I have a product (Bitter Apple)from the pet store that tastes nasty so he probably would not lick it.
I did not receive email that you had responded. This has happened before so I check the forum regularly.
Thank you for your response.

fredkiwi last decade
freshly ground blooroot root + very small amount of water
would make a perfect paste!

however if you need it to be more sticky (it may crumble...) I think you may add small amount of vaseline or e.g.A + D ointment

(all of it is my honest 'guess' - he writtes no recipe and I ner tried it myself)

Hello Sampath

The thread title is 'blocked nose and chronc ear discharge (Sampath)' - you will find it above this one - which is titled 'black lab with black ear discharge'

Astra2012 last decade
Hello Astra2012

A quick question is blooroot the same as bloodroot. My searches bring up both.

It occurred to me that if sampath is having trouble finding the correct thread perhaps it would be easier to just have him replace the last numbers of the above address line with the correct forum number, if you know what it. Then hit enter.
As you know it has taken me a while to catch on to the lingo(thread, etc).
Thank you again.

I meant BLOODROOT
Sorry for the typo

Hello Astra2012. I hope you are still there. I just had to re-register, I suppose because it has been so long.
I just wanted to update you on Fred.
The Thuja 30X does not seem to be working on his lipomas. You can massage them down some but they are back to size soon.
In regards to silica 6x for his ears, as long as I keep him on the 6x they stay fairly clean but there always seems to be a little discharge deep in the ear that can be barely seen.
THANKS !!!!!

fredkiwi last decade
Hi:
If there is any chance your 'fatty' tumors are sebaceous cysts (which I suspect given you can manually get then to reduce with massage) then Baryata Carb is the remedy you need...but it also clears fatty tumors as does Calcarea Carbonica.... Also both remedies would cover the ear problems... (Treating the totality of the symptoms)

I would start with the Bar Carb... 30C once a week for a month...leave the ears alone with minimal cleaning... The ears should clear up and the tumors reduce within a month... if not then switch to Calc Carb 30C....

Best wishes

Monty1 last decade
Hello Fredkiwi,
If Thuya doesn't work-drop it.
Silica really seems to be his remedy (TOTALITY OF SYMPTOMS a Monty would say)- can you get homeopathic silica 12c ? Water dose every day--as described previously, for a month--but stop completely if any reaction.

frankly I see no indication for bar-c or calc-- but of course I can be wrong.

Astra2012 last decade
Hello Astra2012 and Monty1

I have only been able to find Silica 6x or 30x in the past. I do have the 30x so would I be able to use this.
I have not seen bar carb or calc carb but can look again. Finding things here are pretty much hit and miss.
Thank you for your response.

fredkiwi last decade
12c is roughly 24x, so 30x is a bit stronger but ok too.

Give it in water -shaking well before (if you go silica-way)

Well that went well....

If you work this through....you get the following....

Calc 24/11
Graph 16/7
Sul 15/7
Sil 15/7
Lyc 15/7
Sep 14/10
Bar C 9/6

Where the first number is the sum of grades of the remedy and the 2nd number is the occurance of the remedy.

Monty1 last decade
I had suggested Bar C… because I have had experience with it removing lipomas (fatty tumors)…..and you can see it has a high affinity for them on the back particularly in the neck area…. It also covers some of the others symptoms present…..

However…. In reviewing this case…. I would like to correct my original suggestion…. In my view the Calcarea Carbonica 30C potency… one dose of 3 pellets weekly NOT daily..Would be more appropriate to start…. If no improvement within the month… then the Baryata Carb would be my second choice….

You can safely switch from one remedy to the other… (please DO NOT give both together)… and they are also compatible with the Silicea which you have already been giving….

In my view if the Silicea was the most similar it would have cleared the ear problems by now… instead it only seems to be palliating it….(ears fine as long as remedy is given)…

I expect the Calc carb to eliminate further ear treatments and reduce the lipomas…. In addition it should help with the bare patch on his tail.

I also noticed you are giving the dog the Glucosamine/Chondrotin…. Is this as a preventative or does he have hip problems…. Calc carb helps with the hips….

You had indicated he is an older dog and prefers the indoors…. I have seen many labs that prefer the warmth to the cold ….as they get older they typically gain a bit more weight…. If your guy has some extra weight…. The calc carb should help with that….

In addition to the Calc carb I would suggest leaving the ears alone…just check daily and give the outside a quick wipe…. Massaging the lipomas is not likely to do much good…instead make sure your boy gets out for walks and exercise to improve the lymphatic system and encourage drainage….

Please report any change in symptoms

I welcome your questions and appreciate the comments of other posters.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful day.

Thank you Astra2012 and Monty1 for your info. That is a lot to process as I am not that knowledgeable. I do not understand exactly what the grades/occurance mean. As I said the discharge has been greatly reduced. In the beginning there were huge chunks being thrown from his ears daily. The lipoma diagnosis was strickly my own. How can I tell if it is lipoma or cysts. I thought cysts would be open or draining. The largest cyst is on his front left shoulder.
I started giving chondroitin/glucosamine when he arrived on our door step at about the age of 2yrs. The local AKC said he was a high quality dog that must have gotten away from his owner. He had a slight limp at that time so I immediately started the c/g and he has not gotten much worse. In the beginning it completely eliminated his limp so I believe that it did ward off a great problem in his old age.
THANKS !!!

fredkiwi last decade
Hello:

The information was more for the benefit of the other posters... unfortunately it did not show the grades for each remedy but for those who are interested it can be looked up....

Cysts do not have to be open and draining.... they can just be a lump that is felt..

I am sure you are right about giving the c/g and preventing further problems....however the limp is still a deviation from a totally healthy dog and needs to be taken into consideration when prescribing a remedy... especially when there might be several remedies to consider and you want to rule some out to find the ONE that is the most similar....

SO.... please tell me about his limp... where is it... what makes it better or worse... also any other health issues he has had ....past and present...

Could you also confirm if he is somewhat overweight.

The more information offered...the clearer the picture to prescribe the most appropriate remedy....

Looking forward to your reply.

The limp is in his right rear leg. It is not very pronounced for a dog of 11 years old. He probably weighs about 125 lbs but as a young skinny pup at 1 1/2 lbs he came to us at over 90 lbs. He is one of the large labs. I presume you know that large breed dogs have a tendency to hip dysplasia. I have often wondered if the fact that he always lays on his left side, the side with the bumps, could be causing pores to clog.
Thank you

Correction:

Guess I should proofread.
That should be a skinny pup of 1 1/2 YEARS old.

SORRY, THANK YOU
