Persistent cough

I have had cough for several weeks now. I cough all day long, but not at nights. In the mornings it is loose, but during the day it is more dry. I don't know about the color, the pleghm does not come up.

Earlier this week the cough was going down to the chest, I was afraid of getting really sick, so I took Bryonia 30 c and Phosphorus 30 c four times on Thursday-Friday. (I could not figure out which one was better). One of those helped and there is no pressure on my chest anymore.
But the cough is still there.

I have one peculiar symptom: I just noticed I don't smell anything. I just tried to breath eucalyptus oil, normally three drops in water is enough, now I took 20 drops and still could not smell.
That is funny, because I don't have running or blocked nose.

The other strong symptom is that I am very tired during the day. I don't talk as much as normally, and I feel that I can fall as sleep in the middle of standing.

I also have very slight headache at the back of the head, but that is not severe. It is like pressure.

(My mother is worried about me, because she has asthma and she says this sounds asthmatic. I have never had any breething problems.)

Could someone advise me, please!

not enough symptoms to zero in on a remedy but remedies like SEPIA, CALC, LYCOPODIUM and PHOSPHORUS may be of use based on your generals and mentals.

try in 200c potency every six hours for 2 to 3 days and then after getting some relief, taper it down to once a day morning for one or two days more.

match your generals best with any of the four above given remedies and try.

Thanks for replying. I realized I do have one more symptom.

I think the sinuses are full. After noticing I don't smell anything I noticed the pressure on my sinuces. I was able to blow a bit. It was slightly yellowish, it had a bit blood in it and it seems to be sticky.
Phosphorus? What about kali bic?

Kali Bich...when sinuses are blocked, there is frontal headache and expectoration is greenish - yellow and thick.

Use 200 potency.

Give it a try.

Bryonia has headache in the occiput (back of head) and frontal headache.
When you bend the head forward the headache increases...also lips are dry.
Sinuses are blocked.
So check for this one also.

if you find blood in the phlegm, phosphorus is the remedy.

I took kali bic 1 M. (I got very thirsty afterwards, wonder if that was the reason).
I chose that, because the phlegm was so sticky, like stretching glue, and a big yellow.

I took that 12 hours ago. I have not had cough after that.
When I take deep breath, there is rale on my chest. Then I cough and the phelgm comes up.

I was running a bit with my child some hours ago. I received the pressure on my chest again.

I find this chest symptom scary. I have had pneumonia once and it is quite typical for me coryza goes down.

The phlegm had just some strings of blood. Not much at all.

My lips have been dry for some days now.

Bending over did not increase the headache. The headache is the type that makes you feel sick. It is not only pure headache, it's like migrane, but not that tuff. The feeling of nause is worse than the headache. (That kind of headache is typical for me).

What would you recommend, if Kali bic does not work as I thought, should I go for Bryonia or Phosphorus? To my knowledge Phosphorus would be the right one, but if the phelgm is still sticky?

As I mentioned before:

is the substitute of phosphorous. Especially when chest is full of phlegm.

Hi girilal,

I read the thread about matchsticks. I guess I am far too academic - I just laughed :-). (I come from the country where the science is appriciated and even homeopathic is considered nonsense). But why not... I wonder which kind of matchsticks there is in Nothern Europe..

The discharge from nose is more watery. There was blood in it in the morning, not afer that. I don't have the feeling of being full of phelgm at the moment, but I have this headache above the left eye. It was really bad and I had to take a painkiller. I just have this sick feeling.

Maybe I will go for matchsticks, if I cannot figure out what I should do..:-)

Yes .....if blood is coming with the phlegm...then Phosphorus.

Hi Pankaj,

My daughter is 2 1/2 years old. She has been suffering from cough and cold for the past 3 months now, sometimes severe, and at times not so severe. The problem is that her chest is full of phlegm, but she is not able to cough it out. I can hear her rattle when she is sleeping, have tried bryonia, ANTIM TART, hepar sulph so far first in 30 potency and then in 200, that has not seemed to help, had tried phosphorus once in 30c, that seemed to help but then I was at Jaipur, whereas the problem is always at its worse when she is in Bangalore. Do you have any suggestions?
