10 month old with severe constipation

I have a 10 month old with severe constipation. She always has gone every 3-4 days since she was born, but stool was always normal, so no worry. She is a breastfed baby, who has had relatively little interest in food. Her problems started a month ago with severe straining at the attempt to stool, to the point of making herself spit up. Lots of crying and screaming as well. Sometimes a bowel movement actually happens, and sometimes not. If a bm is produced, it is always the constistency of really thick peanut butter, or even harder. Sometimes stool gets stuck on its way out, and she cannot fully expel, or retract the stool.

My infant has always been extremely fussy. She is a large baby for her size, and has alot of gusto and will-power. The thing that I notice most about her is that the very top of her head is always pretty warm/hot to the touch. There seems to always be alot of heat escaping from the top of her head.

I have tried everything, aside from getting an over-the-counter product, to treat the constipation. I have fed her stewed prunes, prune juice, rehydrated dried apricots, lots of fiber, plenty of water, hemp and flax oil in the water/juice, and stomach massage in a clockwise direction. I am beside myself...help!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
In most cases Nux Vomica will help. Please try Nux Vom 30c. Two doses 12 hours apart and post feedback.

Is the stool hard initially and then soft later on?

Is the stool like goat stool?

Does the stool have burnt appearance?

Does prefer hot or cold environment?

Does she keep her sheets or kick them off?

How is her thirst?

What are her food cravings and aversions if any?

Any peculiarities with her?

hi there, thanks for replying.

it is hard to answer all of your questions, as she is an infant, but i will try...

she kicks off her sheets at night, but she IS a baby and rolls around alot, so it is hard to tell if it is intentional.

she seems to not like lots of veggies, and prefers fruit. she loves fresh avocado, papaya and banana, though i have steered away from banana due to its binding qualities.

the stool tends to remain hard, unless i give her a glycerine suppository to assist with defecation. It doesn't appear to be 'burnt' looking, and it doesn't look like goat stool so much. It sometimes is round and hard, but larger than goat stool, and the other end of the spectrum, the softest it gets, is like really thick peanut butter consistency.

she doesn't seem to be a thirsty baby. i often offer water to her, and half of the time she takes a drink, and the other half, she hits her bottle away.

her peculiarities are the consistent 'hotness' of her head, and is extremely easy to break into a sweat. here hair often is all sweaty in a warmish invironment, whereas the rest of the family is comfortable, or just slightly warm. She seems to have a 'hot' nature.

she doesn't like to be 'messed with' or touched, though she likes to be held. She often hits your hand away when touching her face, or massaging, or washing her hands and face off with a wash cloth. She gets angry easily, has alot of willpower, and is quite verbal. She is still really attached to me, and doesn't like to be put down often.

hope that this additional information gives you a better idea!

with much appreciation...

Please try Nux Vom 30c. Two doses 12 hours apart and post feedback.

Usual homeo restrictions like not eating/ drining for 30 mts before and after taking the remedy apply.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I tried the Nux Vomica, and it didn't seem to work. After some research, i decided to try Silicea 30c. This seems to be doing the trick. Thank you for your reply.
