Ataxia

My uncle, aged 66 is suffering from Ataxia Locomotor. He walks with a funny gait and has on occasions even fallen on the road and hurt himself. He has also lost a lot of weight. He will get loose motions at the drop of a hat.

This sickness is hereditary. His elder brother, my father also had it. Towards the end a few doctor diagnosed it as water in the brain. he had to go for lumbar puncture through which they drained out a lot of liquid, but then my father did not survive for more than a month. My father got this when my mother died when he was only 38 yrs old. He never remarried. That time his hand started shaking a lot whenever he wrote something. But still he used to play badminton and table tennis till the age of 48 or so and was his club champion beating youngsters half his age. Once while playing badminton he tripped and broke his wrist. Then his doctor advised him not to play any more, though he still went swimming every summer.
The MRI scan towards the end showed that there were empty places in his brain. Here my homeopath had said that the white matter of his brain was dying and so he was losing control of his movements.

My grandmother also had it. Hers was triggered by shock when her only brother died during the wedding of her daughter. She thereafter couldn’t climb stairs. Her next shock was in 1970, the death of her eldest son-in-law who was murdered by the naxalites in Calcutta at the age of 37 or so. Then my mother’s death. Her next shock was her daughter’s death to cancer. After that she couldn’t walk at all. Her last shock was my grandfather’s death. From here on she couldn’t even remember that he was no more. She would think that he had gone for work and the family kept this delusion so that she would eat her meals. When she then remembered his death it was as if very recent and she would mourn him.

Her father also had it as her sisters. I don’t know their case history. Actually I am writing all this to show the hereditary line. A father, his daughter, her son, then his daughter and so on. Her uncle’s daughter also had a very bad case whereby she could not even feed herself let alone do anything else. This has been the line which is getting it. The homeopaths and MDs said that this disease is incurable. Re my father they had said that this is due to the pressure on his brain with all the water. But his head was not swollen or anything. The report shown to a renowned brain surgeon had said no treatment for this was available.

Now to my uncle. He has always been very health conscious and still does Yoga everyday. His tension is due to his mentally retarded son. The son gets mood swings and is very violent in some of them. Whole day he will watch only TV. In his violent mood he will even hit his parents and scratch them badly. His sister is a Phd. and is in research. Only a year older than him. They were born 13 years after my uncle’s marriage. There is one peculiarity. Whenever my uncle sits, he will do so with one foot above the other crossed at the thighs. I think it is mostly right on left. He also loses his temper very quickly. My father was also the same. They are six brothers and only 3 have had this sickness. The other 3 are normal.(thankfully) and the 5 sisters too are ok.

Can he be helped in anyway. For his business he goes to another state and moves around in public buses from one town to another. There also one or twice he has fallen and had to be taken to a doctor by the locals. This undoubtedly gives all of us a lot of tension but he will not listen. Will say how else would he earn his living and look after his wife and son. Is there any way he can be helped.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
This is a problem that tends to go down the male , rather than the female line . It is also known as Tabes Dorsalis. It is a stage of neural disorder and difficult to treat with homeopathy.
If he loses his temper very quickly and it only lasts a short while then one would suggest Sulphur - but very high potency - 10CM or higher if you can obtain it. Single dose only and wait at least two weeks to judge result.

Might also be worthwhile checking out Arg. Nit.

My father was given Arg. Nit. with no result and was also given Sulphur again no result. He just went worse day by day due to family tension with his brother. I would like to try Nux as suggested by Kuldeep but am apprehensive of giving them any hope. Can anyone help in the mood swings of my mentally retarded cousin now 30 yrs. Will just wtch tv and as Calcutta has no recreation for such people gets very frustrated and misbehaves. Then he has to be drugged.

two things ;-
1] If you use Sulphur GO HIGH _ AY LEAST 10CM OR HIGHER!!!>

2] The mood swings you refer to come under the same classification as the Ataxia [ the same Miasm ]

If your cousin behaves in a childish manner then again use
a HIGH POTENCY OF BARYTA CARB AGAIN AT LEAST 10CM - single dose and wait.

Lower potencies are useless in thes cases.
