The ABC Homeopathy Forum

6 yr old with cough I can't get at

6 yr old girl (non vax)
(winter here) Short of a mustard plaster I'm not sure what else to do!

Her current symptoms:

barky forceful loud cough at night and again at daybreak.

worse at night (beginning at dark, worse at 10pm and 6am)
worse during sleep
worse lying down
worse laying on back
worse in bed
worse in warm room
barky, harsh, possibly JUST moved down into the chest
better with window open
no experctorant from coughing
blocked stuffy nose at night when lying down

expectorant from nose: only when forceably blown out in the morning- gobs of THICK white/light yellow mucus a couple inches comes out each nostril and hangs there - feels better when she blows it out.

no fever (raging hot one came and went 7 days ago)

vomitting came and went 7 days ago

no rattling in chest

no wheezing

head sweats at night (always does even when well)

bedwetting has been an issue but while sick - every night- sometimes doesn't wake up.

past speech issue has been improving BUT every time she gets sick it seems to sit in her head and it is REALLY hard to understand what she is saying!

bump on the end of her tongue

not thirsty but will drink water, ginger tea, herbal teas etc.

likes to be warm

dislike cold water

happy, energetic during the day, does not appear fearful

normal hunger (whole foods millet, quinoa, fruits, nuts & seeds, veggies, salads, juices)

craves frozen berries/fruit

angry, frustrated, stomping, irritated with siblings or if things aren't going her way.

wants to be close to me (mother) wants hugs, wants me to colour with her, wants to do her math/school work with me, wants to crawl on my lap- very affectionate with me.

REMEDIES I'VE USED SO FAR:

At first I thought it was croup so...

used aconite, then spongia (with marked improvement)

then lycopodium 3 days ago with some improvement - she started getting sleep, sleeping for large chunks of time.

we have been using ginger tea, vitamin c, vitamin d, zapping etc. to try and prevent a secondary issue.

I have used a few remedies but am stuck as to where to go from here...it is SUCH a nasty cough!

Can someone please take a look and offer some suggestins?

reports of nasty virus going around in our town.It starts with super hot fever, vomitting, then seems to get better, then hits sinuses and chest lasting minimum 3 weeks. In our house, only she and her 2 yr old brother got it but he is still breastfed and it was minimal for him.

When she was 4 months old she had whooping cough and it was bad. After that she had croup every time she got sick. At 5 she was given pertusses nosode and the croup has not occrred in about a year and she has only been sick once 9 months ago and we ALL had a bad coughs for weeks after begin exposed to an air show at a military base

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
