Dr Kadwa, please - Calc Carb follow-up

Hi all,
I have taken a constitutional inventory on two separate occasions, and one said I was of the Lycopodium constitution, while the other said I was Sepia. I would seem to be more fitting with sepia, but I am not sure which to try first (I have both on hand.) and how to take it. I have suffered on and off with depression and anxiety for a long time, and PMDD before my menstrual period. I am a worrier, and need plenty of 'down time' to myself, but always feel in a rush when things are expected of me, and expectations and commitments make me stressed out. Is there a questionaire I could fill out to give more specific details? I will answer any questions from any homeopaths who think they might be able to point me in the right direction. Much appreciated.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I found an intake questionairre, here are my answers. Grateful for any help!

Sex: Female
Age: 31
Nature of work: writer

1. Describe your main suffering?
Depression and anxiety that has been on and off since I was a child. Debilitating fatigue – worse in afternoon, irritability, foggy thinking, sugar cravings. PMDD and worsened anxiety and irritability for 2 weeks before my menstrual period, easily annoyed with family members.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
Constipation, skin always has breakouts, always covered in pimples on face, neck, and chest. Get very hungry in the evenings, and crave starches and sweets. Trouble falling asleep until very late or early int the morning. Sleep is not restful.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
Feelings of loneliness, hopelessness, being trapped, my mind feels very tired.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Describe the sensation in your own words.
In a rage, I feel as if I need to scream or I will explode, and I say horrible things I end up regretting, alternately, I don't want anyone to be around me, and I feel suicidal, but would not act on it or tell anyone that.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
I remember being tense and anxious from very young, I could never do things well enough to please my parents, so I just gave up, and have a hard time being motivated about anything. Father (who died in a car accident when I was 14) was overly critical of me, and parents were emotionally distant and punitive. School mates were not very kind to me and I had almost no friends.

6. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?
Yes - Greater irritability, depression, etc. during the two weeks before menstrual period. About a year ago, I lost several close friends who turned against me due to a misunderstanding, and we (my husband, son, and I) moved back in with my mother across the country about 9 months ago, due to a job loss.

7. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
During warm, dry weather, but not too dry. I just don't like noticeable humidity.

8. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.
Moody, Quiet, Irritable, Anxious, Lazy, Fatigued

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
Normal

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
It depends but usually I don’t.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? Sound sensitive at night when trying to fall asleep.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
Weeping, talking to one self etc? I tend to itch my nose repeatedly, and don't realize I am doing it (the top of my nose). I think it is a nervous habit, but it does feel like something is on my face or itchy. I also do that with my ears, especially when sitting with other people, like in church or in the car.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife? I love them, but wish I had more patience with them. Sometimes I can't feel love toward my husband, and I have no desire for sex.

9. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?
I am afraid that I won't be able to provide well for my son, and that there is something wrong with him. When I was a child I used to dream of falling or flying through the air on a mattress. Also had a repetitive dream of the Incredible Hulk chasing me around the grocery store after I had lost track of mom (when I was a child). I don't remember many dreams now.

10. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?
I crave starches, specifically crunchy starches and sweets, I do not really have any aversions.

11. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Less

12. How is your hunger:
Excessive – I feel hungry a lot, especially in the evenings.

13. Is there any kind of food which your body can't stand?
No

14. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?
Normal

15. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
I don't sleep well. I often have a hard time falling asleep and may wake several times during the night. I sleep curled in the fetal position or on my stomach, usually on my left side if the bed is to myself, my right side (away from husband) if he is in the bed.

16. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?
No, I don't have hardly any right now.

17. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?
I have been on Prozac for years until about 2 years ago. It helped, but I felt numb.

18. What major diseases are running in your family?
Father – had anxiety/depression, worse in the winter
Paternal grandmother – some sort of emotional instability, possibly bipolar disorder.
Mother (and father) – high blood pressure and high cholesterol

19. What major diseases have you had in your life and when. Please write them in a chronological manner.
Major depression – in cycles since the age of about 5, worse in the winter, no mania type symptoms.

I only had the Sepia in 30c, so I ordered the 200 and it shipped yesterday. I should be receiving it in a few days and will start it then. My question is this, I also have some of this product: http://www.vaxa.com/697.cfm#1 but have not started taking it yet. It is homeopathic in nature, all the ingredients are listed on the link. Do you think this would interfere with the Sepia, or would it be ok to take at the same time? Thanks so much!!

Please don't take that product now or at any other time.

Ok, is there a specific reason why? Or ingredient I should avoid? Is it the L-Arginine? Thanks!

Ok, I have finally received the Sepia 200C. (I had it shipped to the wrong address by mistake, so it took extra time for me to reorder). I will begin tomorrow morning and report back in 15 days. Thank you!!

Hi Dr. Kadwa,
It is a few days short of 15 days since I took the Sepia 200c. For the first couple days I did notice a little more energy, calmness, and mental clarity, and less cravings. I felt less snappish. On the 4th day I started becoming really tired again and feeling foggier, having a harder time finding words, wanting to be alone. Days 5 and 6 I had insomnia and hardly slept at all. I became very anxious and stressed out, on the verge of tears over everything. Since then, and especially the last two days I have had headaches all day, and felt very overwhelmed with a strong need for personal space and to be alone. I have been very snappy with my husband, and very bloated in the abdomen and retaining water in my hands and ankles, much like when I have PMS, but it is not that time yet. Please let me know what you think. I feel very overwhelmed right now and am having a hard time being around anyone. On the positive side, my skin seems to be clearing up a bit.

Ok, I will have to order this. Is there a reason you think my constitutional remedy has changed and I am no longer a sepia?

caligirl last decade
Sepia and Natrum Mur are complementary remedies. It can't be said with confidence at this stage that Sepia is you constitutional remedy.

kadwa last decade
Interesting. Ok, I will take it as soon as I receive it in the mail and let you know in 15 days. Thnks!

Hi Dr. Kadwa,
It has been several days since I finished taking nat mur as you specified. I have not noticed any difference whatsoever. In my experience I usually notice some difference by now. Do I keep waiting, or is there something else I should try?

ETA: This lack of any change at all is curious since in reading up on Natrum mur it does seem like it could be indicated.

I had one other question. I have read to avoid mint during homeopathy. Do I need to avoid mint toothpaste? I have been using baking soda but tonight I was going to use some toothpaste that didn't list mint and I sniffed it to determine if it was minty or not...yep...minty. How bad is it to just smell mint toothpaste? Do you think I could have antidoted the natrum mur, and do you think I should redose? Thanks!

Hi Dr. Kadwa,
It has been 15 days since I took Natrum Mur. At first I had a great pain in my arm and radiating up my neck. Then I noticed nothing much different. For a few days after, I felt very stressed out, snappish and out of control. That seemed to ameliorate, and things seem to be on an even keel. I am not noticing much difference, but I do seem to be able to fall asleep more easily and feel tired earlier in the evening. Please advise. Thanks!

Can you please reply Dr. Kadwa?

caligirl last decade
- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last?
- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods?
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive?
- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery?
- Do you notice any clots in the flow?

kadwa last decade
They are usually regular and last about 4-5 days. I have a lot of irritability and some anxiety for up to two weeks before, it is usually relieved when it starts. Also I crave lots of carbohydrates and sugary foods for up to two weeks also and some trouble sleeping. I have breast tenderness for a couple days beforehand. For a couple days after I am irritable again.

The flow seems to be normal, it is the most on the second day. It is bright red. Sometimes I notice clots but not much. I used to a lot more.

Also forgot to mention that I have a lot of abdominal bloating before and during...most of the month actually, but the most in the two weeks prior to my period. Also I retain water throughout my body.

Is garlic cooked into sauces ok? Do I need to avoid mint as well? Thanks!

Also, I have ordered Calcarea Carb, but reading up on it:

Calcarea Carbonica
Mental symptoms: fear of povery, illness, death; sometimes productive, sometimes lazy; fear of the dark and ghosts; dislike of small spaces, thunderstorms, mice; discusses every detail of each illness to a too great a detail.

Physical symptoms: sensitive to cold; often tired and anxious; excessive, sour-smelling sweat, say, after a light exertion; constipated, but feels better for it; metrorrhagia (heavy bleeding) because of uterine fibroids .

Personality type: shy, quiet, sensitive; when well, may work very hard; when ill, slightly depressed; tends to be overweight; prefers sweet, sour, and starchy foods, cold drinks, oysters; dislike coffee and milk; unusual craving, such as for chalk.

This hardly seems to describe me at all, except shy, quiet, sensitive, and depressed when ill. Natrum Mur seemed to be me almost exactly. Is there a reason why you wanted to change it? Should we have expected more changes if it was the correct remedy? Thanks!
