Dear Gopal,
18 months old child is enough grown up to eat solid & various types of food & also the child gets fed-up drinking milk alone for such a long period. Also by then the taste buds are developed for spicy food.
Therefore, it is essential to feed the child with all possible food that we all eat.
Secondly, regarding craving for mother's milk is not due to craving of milk but to be close to mother & get the psychological satisfaction which is a necessary stage of development, Which is called ORAL stage. It is a very major myth that child should be given huge quantity of milk to grow well.
A balanced diet is just OK. However, you can add some preparations like Horlicks or Bourne-vita etc to give him a change in taste.I do not feel he needs any medicine at all.
