Hello,

I am suffering from severe insomnia-this has been happening ever since I took the first dose of nux vom a few weeks back. I am waking up at 2/3am and there's nothing I can do to get back to sleep. I've never had insomnia so bad. My life has been severely negatively affected-aswell as the insomnia, I'm suffering from bad nerves and anxiety.

I don't want to take any more homeopathicc remedies. but is there anything I can take to antidote the effects of the nux vom?

Well, please take a lot of coffee.

Nux is not responsible for your sleep issues.

Are you still taking sleeping medication at the moment?

Hello,

Yes, I am still taking sleeping medication. I usually take a tablet to help me nod off and then I sleep fine. But, for the last few weeks, I have been feeling nervous and waking up early and not being able to get back to sleep..

Well I am still of the opinion that the curative process has been interupted and you are stuck in the initial phase of it. The medication not being effective anymore definitely suggests that the suppressed symptoms (insomnia) are being pushed back up now as the fight to get well has intensified.

It is unclear at this stage though what the Nux-vom 30c and the Kali-phos has done to this situation. I would normally never change potencies or remedies so quickly without good reason.

Hello,

is there a specific nux-vom antidote that I could take? I am exhausted-I only got 2 hours sleep last night and I have a full-time job to hold down. I have been like this for weeks now-never had insomnia so bad. It feels like the nux-vom has 'over-stimulated' my nervous system...

The remedy is no longer in your system. The process of cure that has been started is being powered by your own body now - it has to be finished.

Homoeopathic remedies only last a very short period, usually a few days, sometimes a week or two. However it can shift the vital energy into a new position, one that changes the way the symptoms show themselves. It may take several doses to shift the vital energy into the right position.

In order to continue the changes, I would suggest repeating the Nux-vom 200 but with a greatly altered dosage. One dose again, taken in the following many.

Repeat as per the split dosing instructions I originally gave. However, this time start with a full cup of water (250mls). Stir thoroughly but take that teaspoon out and place it into another full cup of water. Stir again and take a teaspoon out of that cup into the mouth. This dilution to the second cup should diminish any reactions you experience.

Hello,

I still have the split dosing bottle that I made the last time, to be clear, do I use that? Do I tap the bottle again?

Tap the bottle once only - we need to be as cautious as possible.

Next step is to properly retake the symptoms. Whatever is happening can be solved with homoeopathy if it is applied correctly.

Hello,

I took the dose of 200c Nux Vom. It is really not agreeing with me. I'm still not sleeping and it has done something to my nervous system-I am shaking all the time and feel very ill because of it. I had an important job interview yesterday and I did not get the job-the feedback was that I came across as too nervous! The remedy has had severe negative effects. I don't want to take any more homeopathic remedies, but is there something specific I can take to antidote the Nux Vom?

The two main reasons a patient aggravates strongly on a remedy or for long periods are:

1. There is physical pathology of some sort (tissue changes) whether diagnosed or not. Homoeopathic medicines can in fact reveal pathology where the patient and doctor was previously ignorant of it.

2. There has been a large amount of medical suppression. In such cases the body is literally attempting to throw off the drug effects that may have been imposed on the body for many years. This is quite common to see in naturopathic practice as well where they 'detox' their patients. This seems quite likely in your case, and there may be an interaction between the orthodox medications you are taking and the homoeopathy. Considering that Nux-vomica is also one our our primary remedies for 'nervous systems burned out from too much medication' I can see why it is targeting these parts of your health.

There is a problem here no doubt. It is not with the remedy or with homoeopathy, which may of course not be the correct one. There is a problem in your body, in your disease, which is causing an unusual interaction.

This is why coffee cannot fix it, and why trying to rid yourself of the nux-vomica will not either. There is a complex issue here, that requires time and effort to resolve.

If you do not wish to continue with homoeopathy, then you will need to seek out another kind of therapy to deal with this - other kinds of medicine with similar power to heal are Chinese Medicine or Aryurvedic medicine. Acunpuncture when used by someone with traditional training can be quite powerful too.

The important thing is to work it out. Homoeopathy, in fact genuine healing as a general rule, is not simple band-aid stuff. It is hard work, and requires patience and dedication on both sides. We are often presented with cases that respond in unusual ways, and that response provides direction in solving the problem. However, the problem is there in the beginning - the homoeopathy simply highlights it and calls for a solution to be found. The vital energy when stimulated, will intensify the struggle to get well, since your symptoms are only representative of that struggle.

So what does what has happened so far mean?

Improvement in more important areas with worsening in some less important areas (which has nothing to do with how painful those symptoms might be) = remedy is at least partially correct

Return of old symptom (how the complaint originally presented) = curative effect but may call for different stategy (in effect you have been moved back to an earlier point in your disease history and given an opportunity to fix the problem)

Aggravation does not reduce on its own = tissue changes are present (long aggravations) or the remedy was a partial similar (remedy will only take you so far)

Lower potency does not solve the aggravation = not the primary effect of the medicine but it is being maintained by your own vital energy

Mechanical use of a antidote = also means the same as the issue with lower potency, but mechanical antidoting is not standard homoeopathy anyway so is pretty hit and miss

Repeating the remedy in a more diltued form (split dosing) after waiting an appropriate amount of time not reducing aggravation = it is not a dosage issue, but will be one of the other two issues I mentioned in my previous post (tissue changes, medical suppression)

At this stage the normal process would be to retake the case, focussing on those symptoms that are causing the most trouble NOW and placing less importance on the ones that are currently better. The only real way to 'antidote' in homoeopathy is to use the Law of Similars to cure the problem, just as we always do.

I do not like to leave patients part way through their treatment. If we strike an obstacle to cure at any stage, it should be understood and solved. It may be external, or internal and require a new perspective. The obstacle is rarely because of the homoeopathy though, it is usually something that was unseen up till now. The key is to adapt treatment to the situation.
