Abscence Epilepsy
Just over a year ago my 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with abscence epilepsy. She was having around 30 - 35 attacks a day and we immediately took her to a homeopath who prescribed Calc Carb and the number of attacks were immediately reduced to around 15 a day but didn't fall any further. We then took her to a Neurologist who put her on Lamotragene and despite many months of treatment, the level of attacks remained the same - Lamotragene didn't work.We took her back to the hospital and they said that it was EXTREMELY unusual that Lamotragene didn't work and suggested that we wean her off it and put her on Epilem - a much stronger drug which also had a greater possibility of side-effects.
Our homeopath suggested that we continue on Calc Carb with an increased dosage before we commited to the new drug and our daughter agreed that she'd like to give it a try. We continued on the increased dosage of Calc Carb but there was still no reduction of attacks.
Before we could go back to our homeopath, he died and in desperation we went to a new homeopath who prescribed Artemesia Vulgaris. This also did nothing so we went back to the hospital to see the neurologist who persuaded us to go onto Epilim. Our daughter has been on this drug for a week and so far, it looks like it's having no effect at all.
Candy is still having around 15 attacks a day and it's now starting to affect her self confidence and personality.
We are distraught with worry and we dont know where to turn.
I need to tell you a little about her attacks. When she has one, it usually lasts for 10 to 20 seconds. She carries on doing whatever she is doing - chewing, walking - anything repetitive. I have seen her going down the stairs without any problems when she's having an attack. I have also seen her riding her bike when she has an attack and she just carries on riding. I have even seen her avoiding obstacles in front of her while walking and having an attack!
The only sign that she is having an attack is that she starts to tilt her head upward slowly and her blinking frequency may increase very slightly. As she is finishing the attack she makes a 'uh huh' sound ( a kind of 'yes I agree' sound). This appears to be involuntary and an effort to mask the fact that she's had one.
As far as seizures go, there are very small. What I'm worried about is the future - what are we going to do if we can't control it. Conventional drugs don't seem to be working at all.
Please, if anyone can suggest anything that may be helpful, go right ahead. We need to control this, if possible by homeopathy. Conventional drugs seem to be packed with so many side effects and many of them are far worse that the small epileptic attacks that she's having.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, we are in the UK.

Cany was on 1M for several months and he also tried 10M but that didn't reduce the attacks further.
Many thanks

this is a very difficult condition to treat on internet forum. Do you feel you can go back to the second homeopath to see what they suggest? or did anyone take over the practice from your first homeopath that you could see?

Hello. I've been reading this forum and am wondering - if our son begins homeopathic treatments should we wean him off his Lamictal drug beforehand or can we try it simultaneously? I know his neurologist won't want us to try it - he thinks he's God.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, how to find a good homeopathic physician in our area - SW Missouri. Thanks again!
