Side Effects of Homeopathy
I went to a homeopathic doctor for chronic fatigue and multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome. He has prescribed 4 different remedies which have not provided any benefit. The first three I took 3 tablets twice a day. The fourth I took in only one dose. After the first remedy (Natrum Muriaticum 6c) I had a side effect or aggravation of becoming spacey - for the next two days I sat and stared into space not being able to get it together to do anything (or much). This got better but from that day I have switched from a person who always tried to accomplish very much in a day to a person who has very low motivation to accomplish anything in a day. This has persisted despite stopping the remedy after three weeks or so. I had no side effects that I know of from the other two remedies (Aurum Metallicum 6C and Lycopodium Clavatum 6C) which I took for several weeks each one after the other with a break in between. The day after the fourth remedy (Silicea 200C) I became 'loopy' meaning that I forget to do things that I normally would not forget and I care less about things. This has remained constant since the day that I took the one does of the remedy. I would like to be back to normal. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.marytherese on 2011-12-19
This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
The wrong remedy can do a number of things. It can produce side effects, although these tend to wear off fairly quickly. It can also act as a stressor on your system, forcing it to react just like it would to any other perceived threat (thus you develop more problems).
Something that is important to realise is that your symptoms are actually part of your body's strategy for survival, and when stressed it will produce those symptoms as a kind of defence. Chronic disease develops when we get stuck there, unable to stop ourselves from continuing to react (even when the stressor is gone).
People can get this from orthodox drugs, environmental factors, emotional causes, mental strain - anything they have a specific sensitivity to (or is powerful enough to overcome their natural resilience).
So something in both Nat-mur and Silicea touched on your own personal sensitivity. A skilled homoeopath can use that information to help them find a better remdedy for you.
Nat-mur and Silicea are both mineral remedies, both situated in row 3 of the periodic table. This immediately creates some similarity between them in terms of what they can treat/create. Perhaps you actually need a different remedy from that same row.
Both remedies have a strong sensitivity to being 'looked into', to having others see things about them they don't want to be seen. So that might be a point they both hit in you.
Sometimes however, the particular remedies that caused the problem have no real meaning for us. It is only the reaction that matters, which is used to make a more precise prescription. If your vital energy has overreacted to something, even a remedy, the only way to put it right it to make a better prescription.

Thank you very much. That is a very helpful reply. So if the homeopathic doctor I have been working with does not have any ideas for helping me with this reaction, then I would keep calling other homeopathic doctors until I found one who knew how to help it? I think I would like to be done with homeopathy (I didn't realize there were so many hazards with it). Can it be reversed in any other way?
Thank you again very much.
Thank you again very much.

Or I can try to help you out. Face-to-face is best but you still need to get a competent practitioner.

That's good to know that you can help me with it. Thank you. I still would rather not take a new remedy because they seem so unpredictable. I am doing other therapies to help with my condition (prayer, NAET, acupuncture, vitamins, cranial sacral) - once my body and emotions get to a stronger place do you think that they will stop overreacting to the homeopathic remedies? Otherwise, is there any other way to reverse a reaction like mine? Thank you again.

You can only cure your sensitivity to homoepathy (if that is what you have) with homoeopathy.
The reality is that your homoeopath was careless and incompetent when it comes to both dosing and finding a suitable remedy. This same thing can happen with a bad orthodox doctor (who could kill you with their incompetence). It is not the fault of homoeopathy, but of the practitioner.

Ok, if you are willing to help me (and also to help me clarify if it really is a sensitivity to homeopathy and not something else) then I would appreciate your help.
Thank you.
Thank you.

GUIDELINES FOR GIVING HOMOEOPATHIC CASE INFORMATION
It is important to describe all your problems in as much detail as you are able. One word answers and short sentences are not particularly helpful. Discuss each problem one at a time, providing (as a minimum level of detail) the following information.
1. What exactly happens?
2. Describe all sensations and pains. Each pain or sensation should be described in such a way that allows us to imagine having the same pain.
3. What causes the problem to get worse after it has started occurring?
4. What creates some relief for the problem?
5. What triggers the problem into occuring?
6. What time of the day or night does the problem occur?
7. When did the problem start? What was happening in your life at that time? Did some specific event or treatment take place just before the problem started?
Move from one problem to the next, doing the same thing. IT IS VITAL THAT YOU GIVE A COMPLETE PICTURE OF YOUR HEALTH BY PROVIDING ALL PROBLEMS YOU HAVE, EVEN IF NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN ONE, AND EVEN IF YOU CONSIDER IT OF LESS IMPORTANCE.
You should address each problem separately using the above 7 questions as a guide. Do not put all your complaints into each of the 7 questions. Discuss one problem at a time. If you have, for example, a headache with nausea, do each component separately too (what makes the head pain worse or better, what makes the nausea worse or better).
As well as this, please describe any traumatic incidents that have taken place in your life. Discuss anything that has had a lasting impact on you mentally, emotionally or physically.
Discuss the way that you manage or deal with your problems, or any problems that occur in your life.
Discuss any patterns you have noticed in your behavior especially concerning your disease.
Discuss any part of your life where you feel stuck or unable to change and grow, especially where this occurred around the beginning of your disease, or as the disease evolved.
Describe your childhood and the kind of environment you grew up in, with reference to your relationships with your family, your school experiences, and any serious childhood diseases.
If your earlier discussions have not mentioned these already, please describe:
1. The specific foods that you crave (not just like) or hate
2. The specific drinks that you crave or hate
3. What your sleep is like
4. How the weather and the temperature affects you
5. What kinds of things in the environment you are particularly sensitive to
6. What your general level of energy is like
7. What your level of sexual energy or desire is like
8. Describe your menstrual cycle
9. Also give these details
a) Body type and build
b) Skin colour and texture
c) Areas of the body tends to perspire on
d) Odour of sweat, body, stool, flatus, urine
e) Colour of stool, urine, sweat
10. Give any reactions to vaccines or medical drugs.

Of course don't hurry through it. The more care you take the better the case, and the better the chances I will be able to prescribe something useful for you.

Ok. Good to know. The 'spaciness' and the 'loopiness' are going to make it harder to think through but it will be ok I think.

Hello Dr. Kempson.
I have worked all day today on the information for you. I had a detailed Health History document already written that I added more details to and which I updated and I had a description of Current Symptoms document that I also updated. I still need to go back and fill in all the information that you would like but that I didn't already mention. Do you want what I have done so far or do you want to wait until I finish it? It took me a long time to focus on this problem so I apologize for keeping you waiting. I am going away for the weekend and will not be able to work on this again until next week. Also, the documents are very lengthy - do I just copy and paste them into this little reply box or is there a better way to send them to you? Thank you very much.
