11 week old with reflux and gas

Hello,

My baby girl is 11 weeks old today and we have been struggling to find a fix for her reflux and gas. She is exclusively breastfed. We have tried every over the counter remedy there is with no success and her doctor recently prescribed her Zantac .08 2x daily. I really want to find something other than the zantac for her, as I feel it hasn't made much of a difference anyway. We also just started giving her florababy probiotics to see if that may help. I have struggled with IBS and tummy issues most of my life and truly hope she doesn't have to deal with the same!

She was born a couple weeks early and has had gas almost since the beginning, although it has been worse lately, she cramps terribly and has much trouble sleeping, eats about every 2 hours for very short periods and usually up fussy/crampy at least once or more in between feeding. We are lucky to get 5-10 minutes of happy/smiling/content baby at a time before the crying starts again. She is currently 9 pounds as of her 2 month check up last week. With the reflux, she is fussy almost constantly, coughs, gags, gets hiccups, snorts, and spits up quite a bit and tends to be fussy at the breast.

I have read about the Nat Phos 6x being greatly effective in treating this, but want to make sure I am doing everything correctly. I hate to see my baby girl hurt and want to do whatever I can to help her! Please help me!

Dr, Sharma,
I have not been able to find the phosphorus in liquid form. I had already ordered the nat phos 6x and should receive it within the next day or so. Is it ok to try that or could you tell me where to find the phosphorus? I have already stopped the zantac as I was not comfortable with keeping her on it.

Dr. Joe, could I use the same amounts of the nat phos 6x as you have had other mothers use for themselves and their infants?

Jamie,
where are you?

If in usa, order the phos in liquid off this remedies
shop on here. If you are in Canada or elsewhere
order from Helios Homeopathic Pharm Uk- it takes
5 days- the ABC shop takes about 3 days. And if
in usa they have the phos 30c at health stores,
and Whole Foods and the nat phos 6x also.

You need to be aware to follow one person- you
cannot mix things up.

Dr. Sharma is telling you to do Phos 200 and Phos 30
for you and baby and he thinks that will take care of it.-

He is not telling you to do Nat phos 6x- that is Joe
delivera's method.

I am in the usa, I will look for it here. Thank you.

I found the correct Phos on here, but it is rather expensive to order both when I have already purchased the nat phos 6x. Would it be possible to try that first and if I don't see results from that I can then order the phos 30 and 200? Or do you think the phos would be the better option of the two?

I hate to be difficult, just want to make sure I am doing everything correctly.

Thank you!

Hi- sure try the nat phos 6x first.

Then you could do the other- btw, in usa the liquid
cost is way more than the pills cost- so if you
need to order phos30 and phos 200c get the pills-
you can dissolve the pills in water-like 2 pills
in a half cup of water then drink slowly. Every
homeopath has their own 'way' to do pills and
liquid also. Click Deoshlock's name and his previous
posts- you will find how he does pills on one of them.

In India, the liquid is very inexpensive, and some
homeopaths like liquid better-but for usa- too
much money.

Thank you for your reply!

One more thing before I start anything. Over the past couple days it seems the gas has become a bigger problem, frequently interrupting her sleep and making her cramp up and cry out in pain. Would these same treatments help with the gas or is there something else that may work better?

Thank you again!

I am copying below the therapy I have just prescribed to another frantic mother whose baby was in a bad way after taking 2 types of PPI drugs Nexium and Prevacid.

I am appalled to learn that your 5 months old baby has been on a PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) drug Nexium at the adult dose of 20mg !!! and when this did not work switching over to Prevacid.

Please STOP ALL DRUGS when you start on my Nat Phos 6x therapy which I copy below.
You should observe that baby will respond to the Nat Phos in a manner that is unbelievable and I would request you to report your observations on this thread with details of the time delay before he responded.

Please also Google for 'The danger of using PPI drugs' to learn how your paediatrician exposed your baby to what can be classified as POISON.

I copy my default therapy below:

It is very likely that your baby suffers from Gastric Reflux aka GERD (Gastro Esophagal Reflux Disease)

The remedies that have proved to be very effective for Baby GERD are:

Nat Phos 6x dose half tablet dissolved in milk given immediately after a feed.
Nux Vomica 30c in the Wet dose about 300ml after a feed twice daily.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in the Liquid pack in Alcohol, also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard at least 6 times before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this enhances the effect of the remedy on the user.

You will STOP all other drugs prescribed for baby which as you have already seen have not done any good.

Please confirm that you burp baby immediately after each feed.

You will avoid eating all food that can cause any distress to baby. You must know that they are passed on to baby through your breast milk.

You (the mother) will take Nat Phos 6x dose 2 tablets after each of 3 meals daily and Arnica 30c in the Wet dose taken twice daily. The idea is that your milk will pass the effect to baby. You may like to know that this remedy will also help to reduce your weight by 1kg per week very safely.

Report progress in 24 hours and as often as you wish on this thread .

I received the Nat Phos 6x this afternoon and have given her 2 doses after feedings so far and have taken one dose myself.

I will have to order the Nux Vomica and Arnica.

I will update any noticeable changes in the next 24 hours.

Thank you for your response!

Also, my baby still eats about every two hours. Is this too often to give 1/2 tab dose or is it ok? I could give it every other feeding if its too much. She is right around 10 lb at 12 weeks old.

jamiecx84 last decade
You have not indicated if your baby's condition has improved after the Nat Phos.

Please note that the patient is expected to report the result to the consultant as there is no other way to keep in touch with any improvement or otherwise.

It is OK to give her 1/2 tablet of Nat Phos 6x after every feed as NP is very safe in use unlike the PPI drugs you were giving her which did not help.

Update 1

The baby was very fussy yesterday evening, wouldn't rest well for naps and fought sleep for about 3 hours before she finally fell asleep close to midnight. Once she was asleep she seemed to sleep a little more settled than usual, not quite as fidgety throughout the night, although she still became restless 4 times during the night with gas and woke 3 times to eat. There have also been a couple times that she has coughed during feedings and still sounds a bit congested. Since she awoke this morning, she has not been as fussy as normal and has napped well. Still passing gas and cramping some when she does. But does seem more settled than normal, not as restless. Will update again after we see how the rest of the day goes. Thank you for your help!

Update 2

It is 4:21pm here. She is back to fighting sleep every nap, arching her back and kicking feet and waking easily from sleep, seeming uncomfortable. Still giving half tab after each feeding. She also has not had a bowel movement for two days and is still quite gassy. She has silent reflux, so we have never had much spit up to begin with, so I have to go off of other cues she gives me. She has been burping at each feed, but still seems to get choked up easily during feeds and sometimes in between, usually crying out when this happens.

jamiecx84 last decade
I believe that your baby may want more than the half tablet, judging by the reactions you have noted.

Try with an increased dose of 1 full tablet and report her response.

Nat Phos is perfectly safe in use even with babies and you can reduce the dosage to half when she stabilizes.

Joe De Livera last decade
Update 3

She finally had a bowel movement yesterday evening (two actually), I think this may have contributed to her fussiness.

The symptoms of her reflux seem to be improved more today, no spit ups, and so far no more coughing or gagging while eating. The biggest problem we seem to still have is the painful gas. She slept well last night except for the gas pains disturbing her.

I will try increasing her dose to 1 tablet after each feeding today and see how that goes. Should the dose I take stay the same?

jamiecx84 last decade
You may now go back to half tablet after every feed.

When she has stabilized you my stop the NP.

You will however continue taking 3 tablets after every meal thrice daily.

Joe De Livera last decade
Update 4

Her reflux is significantly better, still a cough here and there while eating. I will go back to giving her half tablet after each feeding.

However she is still significantly bothered by gas. Is this something that the NP should also help with over time, or is there something else I should try with her for that.

I will also continue taking the NP 3x daily.

Thank you.
