5 week old reflux and gas

My 5 week old son has had gas problem since birth and has recently developed a reflux problem as well. When we try to burp him, he spits out the milk. he seems extremely uncomfortable after feeding trying to clear his throat, as if to settle down the food which keeps coming back up. We feed him upright, keep him upright for half an hour to an hour and put him to sleep at an incline. Buroing is extremely difficult without having to worry about spitting. Relieving gas remedies like pushing legs to the stomach or burping over shoulder are not good for his reflux at all. Having to feed him only 2 ounces at a time means we have to feed him every two hours which means he is not getting enough sleep. Our pediatrician recommended Zantac for his reflux but we don't want to give medication to a month old baby and want to try homeopathy/ biochemical remedy. Please advise.

I can try to find a suitable remedy for your case. Before doing that, please click on my username to know about me & my prescription skills.

Please answer ALL these questions and I may be able to select a curative remedy. Leave the questions in place:

1. What is the age, weight & height of child ---- birn on August 1, 2014 (5 weeks and 6 days today), weighed 10 lbs, height 22 inches on last doctors visit on sept 2nd,
2. Physical appearance: Thin, Medium, Chubby -- medium
3. How is the child mentally & emotionally normally -- seems happy during quiet alert times
4. How is the child mentally & emotionally during reflux/gerd -- he doesn't seem to be in pain when he spits out the milk. Seems in discomfort while trying to keep the milk down after feeding. Doesn't seem in distress during feeding also. Twitches and squirms during sleep.
5. What are the symptoms of reflux/gerd -- if burped immediately or if there is any pressure on belly after feeding, spits out milk. Seems in discomfort while trying to keep the milk down after feeding. Breathing seems difficult at times, hoarse voice, has nasal congestion, Twitches and squirms during sleep.
6. How is the child’s stool -- mustardy seedy yellow, sometimes with mucus, 3-4 times a day. Seems to always have a little poop each time diaper is changed.
7. Does the child have gas (flatulence), if yes, a lot or less. -- yes he does gas and cris in pain sometimes for half an hour. Gripe water works sometimes but not all times.
8. How is the child’s desire to feed -- has to be woken up at night sometimes to be fed. Wants to be fed every 2-3 hours during the day
9. Is the child teething -- I dont think so
10. How is the child’s sweat (perspiration), answer all these points

Your remedy is: Calcarea Phosphorica 30c.

HOW TO TAKE THE REMEDY:
Please take two doses 12 hrs apart. Just two doses. Not daily.
Report back in 2 days with changes observed.

WHAT IS A DOSE FOR CHILDREN:
One dose is made by dissolving one pill of the remedy (or one drop, if you have liquid remedy) in half a glass of cooled, boiled water. Stir it and take one tea spoon from it.

TIME OF DOSE:
First dose: At night before sleeping.
Second dose: 12 hrs after the first dose.
Don’t take any more dose or any other remedy unless I tell you.

PRECAUTIONS:
If there is worsening of symptoms (called homeopathic aggravation) after the first dose, then don’t take the second dose.
Don’t take any other homeopathic remedy during this treatment.
Give a break of at least 10 minutes before eating/drinking anything before or after taking the remedy.
During the treatment, don’t eat anything which you have never had all your life.

HOMEOPATHIC AGGRAVATION
Sometimes the symptoms for which treatment is being done can worsen after taking the homeopathic remedy. This is homeopathic aggravation and a good sign. It usually dies down within 24-48 hrs. During this time you can use any non-medicinal means to keep yourself comfortable. If the aggravation seems excessive, you can use any & all means necessary (including taking allopathic medicines) to keep yourself comfortable. Keep your homeopath fully updated if this happens.

HOW TO GIVE FEEDBACK:
A good example of how to report your progress is by giving %age improvement for all your health problems e.g.
Headache: 30% better
Low energy level: 50% better
Anxiety: 40% better
Sadness: No change
Depression: Worse
And so on list all your complaints.

MOTHER’S DIET
If your child is breastfed then what you eat will have a huge effect on your baby’s health. If you eat foods which cause gas (e.g. cabbage, beans, cauliflower etc) then your baby will have gas too. Cut back on the foods which cause gas in you or your husband (because your baby may have acquired the genetic tendency of your husband to have gas & bloatedness). Eating a few fennel seeds will address infrequent gas & bloatedness, eating it in excess will cause constipation.
