facial infection after ear infection and more . .

Hi,

Last summer I got a very mild ear infection from the apartment swimming pool because the chlorine levels weren’t maintained.

Both my friend and I had similar symptoms – a gurgling in the ear; some slight dizziness. She went to the doctor but was told there was nothing maybe just water behind her ear that would come out.

Because of that reaction I didn’t go to the doctor and just tried to ‘wait it out’.

By the end of the summer my face, especially the right side was swollen. The left side was starting to swell when I realized this wasn’t just the way my face looked!

I read online that an ear infection can move through small holes in the cartilage of the ear into the muscles and skin of the face. I figured this is what happened and started to take elderberry and goldenseal to help with the infection.

That seemed to work as the swelling went down. But then in late October after being outside in some cold windy days I got, all of a sudden a stabbing pain in my right ear. I have had difficulties with nerve inflammation in the past but this was very intense. I just about wanted to die.

I took some aconite because of how I felt (fearful and that it was a sudden onset from a chill, I thought) – and I made it through and the pain lessened.

I noticed then that the right side of my face despite the swelling being down was very very tight. I believe the tension was the cause of the nerve pain – the muscles clamping down on the trigeminal nerve mimicking trigeminal neuralgia.

It was incredibly painful and after the pain subsided slightly I could feel my jaw was locked and clenched. So I took some rhus tox – and that helped. Both potencies were 200.

I was concerned that my jaw clenching would lead to tooth problems and I did get a small abscess on my right back gumline. This went away as I took goldenseal (the herb) and elderberry again.

But on and off this has flared up again and it seems this low grade infection is still in me. My face and bite on the right side are still stiff and when I go out in the cold (it’s been very biting cold here on and off) the center ‘column’ of my chest feels very tight and stiff too.

I am now taking Silica which has helped pull out things from the abscess which had flared up a bit again. But I’m not sure if I am just treating symptoms.

If anyone would have an idea of what I might take that would address things fully so things could finally resolve, I would greatly appreciate it.

Golden seal the herb taken one drop at a time seems to help but I switched to the silica so I didn’t want to use the herb at the same time. Again, I wasn’t sure if it was just treating symptoms.

If there’s anything I might need to add to help with a remedy selection, please let me know.

I am starting a business at present and don’t have a lot of money so those stresses are present.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

I started on Kali Mur 6x and have taken it for four days.

I used tissue salts - I hope that is ok -

I have had a very slow but steady improvement daily. The abscess is lessening and the tightness and other parts of the infections symptoms are coming out and releasing.

It is very slow though. And I hope I am not sounding impatient but I wondered if a higher potency of 30 or 200 even as it is almost chronic - would help faster or deeper?

When I go out in the cold air (terrible cold snaps here!) the improvement is not so great probably because I pick up a chill even if I am bundled up.

Again, thank you for your input. I look forward to your advice on this - to continue; switch or something else.

Hi,
This week the abscess in my mouth flared up - and after draining - the tension in the right face was lessened over all. It is still stiff and somewhat swollen but continues like before getting better each day.

Thank you for your help.

Glad you are doing better, One question, have you had
the abscess on the back gum line checked out by the dentist?

This abscess could have zero to do with your ear infection and
indicate a problem with a tooth root or gum pocket. These
kinds of things continually drain your energy until you get
the actual physical problem fixed. It would be good to know.

Hi Simone,

That was a concern I’d had. A few things made me a little more certain that a physical problem wasn’t the case – mainly I’d been to the dentist just before the appearance of the abscess and he told me my teeth/gums were really healthy.

When I saw that kali mur was used by alternative dentists with great success to treat deep tooth root/gum pocket abscesses I felt pretty secure in trusting homeopathy in this case.

Thanks for considering that though – it is true if there’s a crack you’d have to fill it or keep on getting bacteria into the root.

Though, by the way, there was this one site where a woman treated her abscess with garlic and a temporary filling. She prevented more bacteria from entering – and treated the abscess with garlic poultices and ate it too. Once that was down she got her tooth filled. It was better than and cheaper than a root canal.

I would mention the site but I am not sure it is allowed..

Very interesting. Yes, you can mention the site, I always put links
in for other sites. The trick is you have to write a few words first
or the link will not work.

This forum was/is originally set up to share and discuss homeopathy
AND anything else people thought was helpful. That is still
the intention of the forum, the healing clinic aspect is only
here bc of the demand for help and people willing to volunteer
that help.

Hi Simone,

Good to know.

I don’t have the precise link to the woman’s story but the site is earthclinic.com.

They have a lot of different ideas there for alternative treatments though I don’t know that I recalled seeing homeopathy in the tooth abscess section – that was somewhere else (a search on homeopathy and abscesses – or maybe it was cell salts and abscesses).

It’s an interesting site though because people post if they have tried something and had success. For tooth abscesses a lot of people have tried and had great success with garlic. I tried that and it did work – it really brought the abscess down but my mouth was too sensitive or the garlic too strong – so I couldn’t keep up the treatment. Apparently garlic is antibiotic and gets into the gums (held there like a poultice) and kills off the infection.

Then people can get teeth repaired like cracks and not have to spend the thousands on root canals which is what dentists seem to suggest usually even after antibiotics. I think that Weston Price and others are right that the overall immunity is important in not getting the abscesses in the first place and keeping them gone.

Hope the link helps someone.

Thanks for the heads up.
