The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Anxiety

I have had anxiety all my life but have been able to manage it. However 18 months ago, I become very unwell with an anxiety disorder. I have seen five Homeopathic practitioners but have not had any relief from the remedies. I was told from someone I am now seeing that I need to clear Miasmic Block. I have bee given the following regime
arg nit MM for 2 nights
Igantia MM for 1 night
Nat Mur M for 3 nights
Thuja200 for 1 night
Then
Nat Mur M every Saturday night
Thuja 200 every Wednesday night
Can I have a second opinion on ths.
My constitutional remedy is Nat Mur. Having reading the profile, I do not fit all of the characteristics of this remedy. Is this a concern? Or it is not possible to fit all of the characteristics of a constitutional remedy. I have also read that Arg Nit and Nat Mur antidote one another. Is this correct?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
That is an appalling way to prescribe homoeopathy. The MM potency should hardly ever be used, and prescribing medicines that close together, of different types, with no assessment in between them and no suitable waiting time - this is terrible, terrible homoeopathy. You are at risk in the hands of such a practitioner, who clearly does not have any proper training at all.

The second opinion I can give you straight away is to leave this person before they damage your health with such careless and reckless prescribing.

Homoeopathic principles requires us to prescribe one remedy at a time, with a reasonable wait in between doses to assess the reaction. Remedies are only changed on the basis that either the entire case has changed to warrant it, or that the first remedy did not do anything (or at least enough) to warrant further doses.

At such high potencies, one would be normally waiting several weeks to see what happens in chronic cases. Not waiting runs the risk of creating aggravations and side effects, or even ruining any positive effect you might have originally seen.

MMs are extraordinarily high potencies, used only in very specific cases - usually when the lower potencies have been used to great effect but have exhausted their usefulness. Using an MM will almost always finish off a case, it would not be used to start one and then jump around to different remedies like a hyperactive squirrel.

It is clear that not only does this person know precious little about actually prescribing homoeopathic medicines, but they also clearly don't know how to help you, and are just throwing everything at you in the hopes that something works.

Carmel,

If you want to tell me what city you are in I can give you options
of classical homeopaths who are qualified to treat you and also
some that you can work with by phone.

Hi

I would call this homeopath up and ask if he can take your case via skype
or phone or what he recommends.

I know he is in Sydney but he has the right qualifications. If this does not
work out , post back .

Thankyou Simone, I will give him a call

Keith was actually one of the lecturers at my college in Sydney. Although it was a long time ago now, I remember him having a solid foundation in traditional homoeopathic philosophy.

I don't really know any homoeopaths in Melbourne though. Skype could be an option for you as well if he does that.

Hi All, I just called him. He is very expensive. I am not willing to pay all that money without any guarantee that it is going to work for me this time. As I said, I have seen five already and I still have anxiety. And the response I was given by Evocationer regarding the remedies I am have been prescribed has caused me more anxiety. So I really dont know what to do at this stage. Not sure if Homeopathy is going to work for me. Does it work for everyone?

Carmel last decade
That isn't really a question that can be answered. It is highly effective in the hands of the right person. A good homoeopath can perform small miracles. But even the best homoeopath will have their failures, but I don't believe it is because the patient cannot be treated, but simply they cannot be treated by that particular homoeopath.

There are different approaches, different methods in homoeopathic prescribing, and that might make the difference for you. However, I do not know if you have actually had proper homoeopathy yet. This current practitioner is not practicing homoeopathy at all, they are using our medicines but breaking all the rules that actually allow us to get good results.

Anxiety is not hard to treat, generally speaking. Mental health issues are extremely susceptible to homoeopathy. I treat many mental and emotional cases with success. I would not let your experience so far colour your impression of the profession if you can help it.

Well first off, I don't know who you saw but there seemed to be only
2 classical homeopaths in your area and one is on maternity leave- She is
Irish and the other one is from India. Did you go to either of them?

Second, anxiety and depression go together often and the first thing
one has to do is make sure you get a good physical exam and also
dental ( bc if your body is struggling with not enough energy you are
going to feel anxious and.or depressed. I know two people who were
having anxiety and depression and it was from a tooth. They did not
have enough energy to do normal things, which made them anxious, then
depressed, then they were going to see a psychiatrist to get medication-
but lucky for both they had their 6 month teeth cleaning and found out
they had an infection that was slowly draining them every day. Once
fixed the anxiety left.

You have to rule out the physical causes first. I understand you have had
this for years but now it has escalated-homeopathy does work well and
counseling along with works very well.

Maybe Evocationer can take your case on here.

Who are the homoepaths that you are referring too? I have been seeing very respected Homeopaths. In this instance, my Naturopath works with this Homeopath, and gave him my history, and they both came up with this regime. He has been around for 30 years. They were just perplexed as to why the homeopathics were not working and said that I had a block. As I said the Homeopath I was seeing, had me on Nat Mur 200 and then 1M as my constitutional. And I thought this was a suitable remedy after reading about it. But can someone please be able to answer the question about this. when taking a constitution , do you have to have all of the characteristics of the remedy for it to work as there are a few things that are so not me in Nat Mur, but alot that are.

The remedy must cover all the important elements of your case, but this does not mean it has to cover every single symptom, feeling or thought you have.

You, however, do not have to cover everything that is found in a remedy. It would be impossible, as remedies usually contain hundreds, even thousands of symptoms.

The reason a remedy does not work, in most cases, is because it is the wrong one. While there can be obstacles to cure, they do not stop remedies from having an effect, but they create other kinds of problems ie. shorten the effect or reinitiate the symptoms after they disappear.

Did this homoeopath prescribe all those remedies close together, in those high potency ranges?

Evocationer last decade
I had a Homeopath who I was working with as well as a Naturopath. My Homeopath only prescribed the Nat Mur. But after several months and other remedies there was no improvement so I decided to cease treatment with her. She said she could not understand why I was not feeling better as she was so convinced that the Nat Mur was was constitution. So my Naturopath stepped in and as I said showed my history to her colleague who has been practising Homoeopathy for 30 years and he prescribed the high potencies.

Carmel,

Why don't you write your story on here. When it first began
18 years ago. What you were experiencing, how you
were able to manage it on your own.

Then what happened where it escalated- what the
new symptoms are.

And what is going on in your daily life now - we can
get a sense of this on here and perhaps help you.

My anxiety disorder started 18 months ago. I was so concerned about my brother who lives alone interstate. He is battling depression and anxiety and I was trying to help him over the phone. He took up all my energy and life. I was looking for hospitals, associations who good help him. I didn't realize the pressure I was under. In the meantime, I went away with a friend for 11 days to Northern Territory. I found it hard to be with her 24/7 when I was feeling so stressed about my brother and I tried to act normal but was feeling the strain that I started snapping at her. I felt so bad about this. Four days after I got home, I fell apart. I developed a fear of swallowing in case I would choke. I could not go out, work or socialise. I was so anxious, and I felt no one could help me. I felt guilty because it was impacting on my husband and children. I am so much better to what I was. It just has has been a matter of time. I still wake up every morning with anxiety. Tightness in my abdomen. Knot in the solar plexus. I have lost my confidence and find it difficult to be with friends one on one as I am always feeling the tightness in my body and feel that I am going to have a panic attack because I cant breathe. I just dont feel like me anymore. I try and undertake new challenges, but always feel the anxiety and cant enjoy what I am doing. I have a low grade tightness in my body all day. I sleep ok, but tend to wake up during the night, but am able to get back to sleep. My self esteem has really taken a tumble. Hope this helps. thanks Simone717 and Evocationer

Hi- you wrote early on that you have had anxiety most of your life
and could manage it.

What was the start of that state?
What were you nervous about and what were your symptoms?
How did you manage it?

What is going on with your brother right now? Is he stable, still depressed,
getting the right help or not? Are you the only sibling or person who
is related to him now?

You were already an anxious person in the first place. This situation
pushed you over the line. This is common behaviour after panic attacks,
the body records 'everything'. So when you get a sensation that is even
slightly similar to a sensation that was present in a panic attack. the
nervous system gets hijacked into a different brain set up. It is on
automatic bc that is how humans are wired up to survive. It seems stupid,
bc the stimulus of the sensation - then a split second thought or
vice versa- is ALL it takes. Then the adrenalin starts to flood you,
and blood is withdrawn from the front brain to other areas.

This is why you can't OVERIDE the panic bc your front brain which does
the overide is offline. If you start to understand the process then you
won't be so afraid of the process and you will be able to stay in
your front brain an calm yourself

If you could work your way through the questionnaire I posted the link to, I will do an analysis of your case and see what comes up.

Mental health is one of the main focuses of my practice. Although the entire counselling aspect is missing from working through this forum, we may still be able to help you.

It is important to get a whole picture, not a one-sided one, even when it is something like the mental state.

I cannot find the link that you are referring to. Where can I find this? And thankyou for taking the time.

Hi- I did not see E's link - here it is-`http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/420128/

One thing I would do if I were you is start getting
Shiatsu massage once a week for a few weeks and then you can go longer.
They are cumulative. You wear your clothes they work on the spine/immune system.
You will feel relaxed, and like you have been put strongly back into your body
and like yourself on a good day.

This is an excellent system to get your nerves running smooth again.
Where I am, there is a large Japanese population so it is easy to get
authentic shiatsu. You have a lot of people trained in shiatsu where you are.

Here is the site link. I looked at the practitioners, and I liked one of
the Japanese practitioners who grew up with Shiatsu being done in her home.
It is powerful, it works and will give you some instant relief.

I have also used it myself and had others go when they had been having effects
from overdosing of nat mur and were in outer space- after one shiatsu they
were back to normal. http://hogushinotomo.blogspot.com.au

Hi Simone, I thought I was talking to people in here in Australia. Anyway thanks for all the info and I will wait to hear from E if its ok to do what you suggested. I dont think I could answer those personal questions on the forum, even though no one knows me.

Simone, just found a Shiatsu practitioner in my area. thanks for that.

I have allowed my email to be seen in my profile if you want to send me the questionnaire. Would you still be happy to share your reactions and ask questions here on the forum?
