10 month old not sleeping through the night Page 10 of 22

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I'm wondering if he has an ear infection. He has been digging at his ears, even tonight in his sleep he has his finger in his ear. I've been giving him his remedy every day. Every single time he cuts a tooth, he gets an ear infection. It's driving me nuts. What am I supposed to do?

Well what is the remedy doing each day?

I'm not sure. It does seem to help with his daytime fussiness, but so far I haven't seen any improvement in his sleep. Right now (since he started cutting this molar) he is waking about 8x a night. I know it will pass but I feel bad about the ear. Should I have it looked at? I know they'll just prescribe antibiotics, but I don't really want to go that route. At the same time, I worry about him having so many ear infections. He's had quite a few in his first year of life and I don't want them to damage his eardrums.

Have you given the remedy at night as well, and does it not help then?

Needing to dose frequently either means the remedy is only palliating, or the potency is too low.

Evocationer last decade
Yes, one night I gave it 3x in the night and saw no difference in his sleeping.
Right now he is happy enough during the day so I haven't given a dose of remedy in a day or two. I'm wondering if we've reached the end of the effectiveness for this remedy.

Of the potency perhaps, not necessarily of the remedy. 200c would be the next step - that will confirm for us how appropriate the remedy still is, or if a new one must be found.

OK. When I'm able to purchase the 200c, I will keep you posted of how it goes. Thanks!

This is a problem here - patient access to the medicines. I have spent 20 years stockpiling a large number of remedies so that my patients need not wait for the prescription nor do I charge for them. I have spent time tracking down difficult to obtain medicines as well. I can change medicines without any delay and react to acute diseases.

That's really neat that you're able to help your patients that way. It's a nice thing to do.

I just wish that meant more ability to help people here. It adds another obstacle I wish I could remove for you.

You up have a good heart.remedies are normally not that expensive, but you know, life sometimes gets in the way of health. Soon enough, I'll be able to get them. Thank you for caring, it means so much.

OK I was able to go and get this remedy tonight. I'll be dosing him either during the night or in the morning.

Ok good. I will keep an eye on this thread over the weekend.

I gave him a dose last night when I went to bed. I'm not sure how much of that drop got into his mouth because he was fighting it. At any rate he slept very lightly after that. It took him an hour to get to sleep after the dose, and then he woke up at 4:30am and was done sleeping for the day (about 1-2 hours earlier than normal). Got him down for a nap again at 8am, and then he only took an hour nap despite being exhausted when he went down. He's happy enough mood-wise. He is cutting another molar as of yesterday. Not interested in food much.

Actually I take it back, his mood has been fussy today. Crying about things he would normally not cry about.

He doesn't seem to be aggravating noticeably on the remedy. Repeat the dose again.

All right I gave him another dose. Will keep you posted.

Would it be all right to give him Tylenol or Ibuprofen? Or do I really need to wait it out tonight? It doesn't
seem like the remedy is doing much for him and I just want to sleep tonight.

Sorry but I just couldn't handle it. After the third unsuccessful try to put him to bed for the night, I gave him Ibuprofen and Benadryl. I just want him to go to sleep.

We had a good day today. After his nap today, he has been very happy and cheerful. Laughing a lot. Seems like his teeth aren't bothering him so much today.

alaskamom last decade
Well it won't be the drugs that have made him happy - so let's see how the next few days go. If it was the remedy then you should see a maintained improvement.

Good to know. I wondered if it was just a better night's sleep or something. He was remarkably happy this evening. He also had a much better appetite as well.

To update on Kody--
His sleeping has been some better, and some worse. The better is at the beginning of the night. Before, he was waking every hour at the beginning of sleeping. The first night on the new potentcy, he slept so well the beginning of the night, it was a dramatic difference. Then around 2 am or so he got really restless, waking often crying/complaining/whining and needing to be nursed back to sleep. The rest of the morning was like normal, waking every couple of hours.
Last night was similar, although he didn't have quite as long of a stretch at the beginning of the night. He seemed a bit more restless overall as well. Both nights when he wakes up in the morning, it seems like he is still tired and should sleep longer, but just is too restless to stay asleep. He wakes up whining and I try to put him back to sleep a bunch of times, and eventually he just wakes up, looking bleary-eyed and with a bit of dark circles under his eyes. He goes down for a nap early because he's so tired from not sleeping long enough at night.

His mood during the day has definitely been improved. The first day was the most dramatic in this case as well. He was happy, laughing, cheerful. Yesterday, he was still doing well, maybe a little whiny at times but nothing serious. We went to church and he stayed in the nursery the whole time, he never likes it and normally I have to go get him partway through because he's crying. He did seem a little sad or quiet or something after church. He had an extra nap, because he seemed a bit fussy and he was tired. After his nap he woke up whiny, but after awhile he did better and was just kind of quiet. Today he seems like he 's doing OK so far, in the couple of hours he's been awake. He's not as happy as that first day, but he's not as bad as he was before the new remedy, either. Kind of just 'middle of the road.'

He's been a little more moody today. He woke up cranky and tired from his nap, even though it was a 3 hour nap which is unusual for him. Little things are making him cry and he's not super interested in eating. His eyes look shadowy around them.

Keep observing for a little longer.

He had a bad night last night. He woke up often, and also had a spell around 12:30am where he was just crying and crying and I couldn't settle him down. The only thing that worked was walking with him. Every time I'd sit down or try to lay down with him, he'd start crying again. It was like he wanted to fall asleep, but then he'd twitch like something was poking him, and then cry again. I couldn't find anything wrong with him. Finally we just got up and I sat with him and watched a movie which helped distract him. After that he played for a bit and then we went back to bed. He fell asleep pretty easily. He woke several more times after that, slept an extra hour in the morning, and was more restless toward morning like usual.
