On a 12c would an aggravation be severe?

The potency does not determine the severity of the aggravation. It is the frequency of the dose, the size of the dose, the sensitivity of the patient, the amount of tissue change in the patient, and the amount of medical suppression that has occurred. When a high potency creates an overly strong aggravation it is because the patient has low vitality. Low vitality must be increased so that the patient can bear higher potencies, which is typically done with lower potencies first.

Considering how much we are reducing the size of the dose through dilution into multiple cups, I would not be expecting a strong aggravation in you.

I am still very nervous about taking the remedy though - scared it will make feel off when I'm feeling OK at the moment and that my weight will increase which is always my biggest worry. My main issues really is all around the bloating and weight and I know I have issues with it.

I cannot do anything else to reassure you. In the end it has to be your choice. There is no healing in homoeopathy without aggravation though, that is in fact how all genuine healing takes place.

Does the aggravation last long - are we talking about a day, days, weeks, months

I know how I've reacted to previous remedies some have been horrendous and as I've not heard of this remedy before it is new to me. What has been the reaction to other patients who you ahve given it to - if you could just give me some kind of ballpark reaction it may help. Know we are all different but any ideas what they have experienced.

Nobody can tell you exactly how you are going to react. Each person has their own qualities, problems, tendencies, and inheritance which determines how they react.

If the remedy is correct, there will be an aggravation of some or even all of your symptoms. This might include the return of old symptoms as well (which would be a particularly excellent sign). There is no telling which symptoms will aggravate, although it is often the ones that have been suppressed the most. The symptoms may aggravate all at once, or they may come and go a few at a time. Once the aggravation has died down then you should begin to see improvement. Again, how much improvement depends on lots of individual factors, as well as on how appropriate the potency and remedy was.

Modification of the size of the dose is the best way to limit the intensity of this aggravation, but in the end it is your own vital force that determines the need for it.

But they should relatively be short lived aggravations. Initial aggravation can be bad for me but usually once my body recognises that something different has been taken it normally is a bit better. Would you agree with this

Aggravations may be longer than expected if the patient is ultrasensitive, but normally they are determined by the amount of tissue change/physical pathology in the patient. Sometimes the patient themselves do not know they have this pathology (it is undiagnosed). Dr. Kent, one of the great homoeopaths of the past, said that he always knew there was some hidden pathology in a patient when the aggravation was too severe and went on for too long. Dosage is the best way to deal with such issues for a patient.

In a patient with high vitality, and no pathology (only functional symptoms) and little medical suppression, the aggravations would be expected to be short-lived. The more problems there are, the more obstacles to cure, the longer that aggravation will go on.

Aggravation is the vital force's response to the remedy, and it blends into the Healing Crisis that the patient needs to re-achieve balance in their health. People often confuse the two, because they can happen immediately one after the other, or even together. Aggravation you can control, the Healing Crisis is much less in our control. Without a proper healing crisis pathology will not be cured for many patients. Again, this is an issue that must be dealt with through dosage.

I guess as I'm not a homeopath I find when you talk about pathology, healing crisis etc. a bit hard to understand.

Well it is pretty hard to understand, at least at the level a homoeopath is practicing (and prescribing) it. Homoeopathy is a difficult therapy to master, and it does take us several years even to study just the basics. However, words like pathology and healing crisis are pretty common to all healing modalities.

Pathology is a medical term for a disease that affects the body tissues (ie. diabetes, arthritis etc), and healing crisis is an eruption of symptoms which the body/life force manifests in order to bring about a state of balance ie. a crisis that brings about healing.

The healing crisis is only unacknowledged in orthodox medicine, and is actively countered by medical doctors.
