Cat with breast tumors Page 3 of 4

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Last pain medication was 12:45 pm yesterday - it is now almost 3 pm next day. Began giving mag phos yesterday 5 pellets 4-5 times - other than some of the exaggerated swallowing (no voice) she is not showing signs of discomfort or pain - she has increased appetite/interest in food. Can be picked up without seeming to feel discomfort - pupils no longer dliated - comfortable sleep - more alert. I see big changes from starting mag phos.

Do I only give mag phos when she looks in pain or can I give it continuously?

If I give her belladonna 30 ch is it also in a dose of 5 pellets (4-5 x per day)?

In addition, systemic and intrapleural chemotherapy for metastatic tumor pleurisy is carried out in cats with breast tumor.

I was told by veterinarian that her experience with cats with this type and stage of canser is that once beginning the chemotherapy the life span average is 3 weeks.

My cat was very healthy at time of diagnosis. (Jan 2016) I chose to treat her with alternative therapies and was healthy (no physical signs of disease other than the tumors) up until mid-late June.

If I give her belladonna 30 ch is it also in a dose of 5 pellets (4-5 x per day)? 5 PELLETS.

I have not seen any one getting cured by chem,it kills.

Thank you! And yes that has been my experience too with chemo. (with humans and animals alike) Allopathic veterinarians that have seen my cat all shake their heads at me when they see I didn't use chemotherapy and aggressive surgery. At the same time they see the size of her tumors and can't believe she is still here with the quailty of life she still has.

anuj srivastava, as she is not eating so much are there any tissue salts that can help keep her system balanced (as opposed to mal-nourished)? She does eat but I can only give so much at one time - some days can't get the required amount she needs.

Bfstlove 7 years ago
i have seen five phos 6x very effective in increasing appetite , should be given, there is no harm.

anuj srivastava 7 years ago
yes I have to agree that since I began giving mag phos 6x 5 times per day she is much more curious about food. Its only her issues with swallowing that make it hard to give her the amount she needs.

I think also with this canser it changes things metabolically - I am concerned about muscle wasting - I can feel her bones but vet says she still has a little muscle that I don't want her to lose.

Will mag phos help with this too?

yes will help

Hello,

I am not seeing her stronger unfortunately - she does not move very much - just to go to washroom, or drink water.

Throat/swallowing returning to very much discomfort after a few days where it seemed less.

Picking her up and moving her sometimes causes her discomfort. She cannot seem to get comfortable - not sleeping peacefully for many days now.

...forgot to say in last msg for last 2 days she is not purring (as she usually did).

Bfstlove 7 years ago
...sorry for some reason I am unable to edit my messages - for this reason there 3 - have to add new one each time.

She is not purring when touched or brushed.

Her biggest concern is being close to a source of water to drink. So much thirst eveb though every other day she is now receiving subcutaneous fluids by injection to keep her hydrated.

Gave Belladona today but have not seen any outcome in terms of pain.

Many hours she sits and is very disconnected - staring into space - wants to fall asleep but not comfortable.

repeat lachesis

anuj srivastava 7 years ago
So much thirst is indicative of phosphorus too.

anuj srivastava - ok

You mentioned in another msg to wait until she is stronger to give her lachesis again - but I do not see her stronger. Is it still ok?

Bfstlove 7 years ago
Again for some reason could not add this/edit to my previous msg about lachesis.

I think I will soon need a remedy for me :) because this is so difficult for me. The food that she needs to sustain her is the thing that is causing her the most pain and distress due to whatever is causing this issue in her throat. Yet she wants to eat - she reacts when I open a bag of food but she knows the pain associated with eating it so she turns away. Last night I gave her a syringe of food and she swallowed so intensely and came to put her head in my arm as if to say "please stop". She will sit with her face above the water dish - soaking her chin and throat. I just don't want her to suffer - breaks my heart. Sorry I know this is not about me - just feeling very emotional about this.

i think a dose of lachesis should be given.

kali phos 6x be given instead of 3x.

you can take a dose of ignatia 200 in the morning.

anuj srivastava 7 years ago
ok - I have been giving her kali phos 6x 5 times per day

Right now I give:

Kali Phos 6x - 5 times per day
Calc Fluor 6x - 3 times per day
Mag Phos 6x - 5 times per day

I do my best to give her all the above but again sometimes it is difficult because of her pain swallowing.

Will give lachesis now.

Thank you very much.

Had a good day after lachesis. Comfortable sleep - less intense swallowing - more responsive to touch. Lets see tomorrow.

One thing that started a few days ago is weakness in hind legs - forgot to mention. Fell off ledge of window today trying to come down.

Still better in day - better in cool dry air - better on firm soft surface like grass or exercise matt - return of voice but very deep in comparison to her normal voice

Hi anuj srivastava,

Another good day after Lachesis - any symptoms mostly present at night - discomfort, exaggerated swallowing, weakness.

Daytime more peaceful rest, more alert, more strength than prior to 2nd dose of lachesis.

I spoke with a verterinarian and they told me her issue with swallowing could be:

*"Megaesophagus, a congenital condition where your cat's esophagus is not contracting and allowing your cat to swallow food normally.
It is a condition characterized by an enlarged and malfunctioning esophagus, which is the tube that carries food and liquids from the mouth to the stomach. Can be caused by disease, physical blockage, or congenital defect will cause these reflexes to fail, and the esophagus will lose muscle tone and remain enlarged rather than contracting. Because foods and liquids cannot make their way into the stomach, a cat may regurgitate and begin to lose weight. In addition, foods or liquids that are inhaled into the lungs can cause aspiration pneumonia, which can be fatal if not treated promptly."

I was wondering what you think about this - is there any remedy that can help with this or is lachesis the remedy that will help?

When should I give next dose of lachesis? Or do we wait?

Thank you for your time and knowledge! You have been so much help!

Bfstlove 7 years ago
calc flour will help.

next dose of lachesis be given after a day.

have you taken ignatia?

anuj srivastava 7 years ago
Ok - so tomorrow I give lachesis?

Will continue with CALC FLUOR.

OH! I forgot about me! I will take it now - 5 pellets 200 ch?

Thank you!

Hello,

A good day with lachesis - evening presents symptoms much stronger as usual so I am preparing for another night of little sleep :) At night she is very intense, clingy, doesn't seem to know what she wants - wants to be so close to me that I cannot move.

One new symptom that I have noticed over the last 2 days is that she is retaining fluids. She is receiving sub-cutaneous fluids every other day and it seems to be taking longer for her body to absorb the water - finding areas of fluid in skin many hours after receiving the fluids - paws even look a bit swollen.

Took ignatia again - I felt wonderful. Felt much "lighter" physically and mentally - like fresh air moving freely through my body. This was day 2. Day 1 I felt emotional but a release of emotions - rather than supress. Difficult but a release. I will take it again tomorrow. Thank you very much for this recommendation!

Bfstlove 7 years ago
In regards to swelling in front paws I was reading online that for cats with breast canser this is normally due to the canser spreading to lymph nodes. Her legs are weak tonight - she does not feel strength to use her box to go to washroom - she urinates where she is - troublesome night.
