Silent reflux

Hello! I really appreciate the work you are doing. My baby is 7.5months old. Initially I was pumping and bottle feeding him along with formula supplement as I wasn't producing enough milk. Once reflux got worse , started puking In the morning feeding and he started refusing his milk, at 7mo I stopped giving him bm and went exclusive on formula. Please note baby has a lip tie, which we decided not to reverse. He also eats solids very well 2x a day. He is on the lower percentile of weight gain 32per 18lbs.

I started giving him 1nat phos 6x tablet, half way through each milk feeding without diluting (5x a day). Have been doing this for the past 3weeks and have seen some results (no more projectile vomiting , back to finishing his bottle and less spit ups) but he still does have silent reflux (wet burps) and very little spit up. Please let me know what I should change and if I should be giving him something else to compliment the nat phos 6x. Should he be taking any probiotics? Thank you! Best regards.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
This problem of vomiting also happened with formula and not just with breast milk? Please describe the symptoms in detail before you started the Nat-p.

Describe the general temperament of the child as well.

In general he is not a fussy baby and does not cry at night like other babies. When he was born he used to get a lot of hiccups but he never spit up until he was two months of age. Then he caught a cold at 2 months, and after that he started spitting up (no vomit at this point). I used to give him 80-90% breast milk from ages newborn to 7months. My diet stayed the same for this time period. At 6.5months during 4 random days he started vomiting in the first two morning feeding. First morning feeding used to always be 100% breastmilk, and in second feeding I had to spplement. During this time period he started having silent reflux, and spit ups regularly throughout the day. His appetite also decreased and was fussy during feedings. Once we eliminated the breast milk, started formula and nat phos 6x(all at the same time) his appetite came back, yet still has reflux, occasional spitup and hiccups. I spoke to my ped and she suggested pepcid, but I would rather try some natural remedy before trying the prescribed medication. Appreciate your help.

Also I'm not sure if it's related or not, but his face always seems tired - bags and dark circles under his eyes. But he is still full of energy and sleeps 14 hours total.

So, when you say bags, is there swelling under his eyes?

sameervermani 6 years ago
Yes there is swelling, but I don't know if it could be hereditary as his father and I both have it.

I want you to give him a dose of Kali Carbonicum 30c as below.

Dissolve 2 pellets or 2 drops in 250 ml spring water (let them melt in water for 15 mins and shake gently once melted), and then rub about half a teaspoon on his wrist (palm side where the wrist skin is thin, and veins are visible), till it gets absorbed.

Report to me in 3 days after this.

Will this help with reflux and eye bags? Should I continue the nat phos 6x?

Bijal 6 years ago
I would stop the Nat-p 6x and yes the intent is to help both.

sameervermani 6 years ago
How many times a day should I do this? Also I keep on rubbing till the half teaspoon has finished in one sitting?

Bijal 6 years ago
Just one time TOTAL. No more doses after that. Wait for 3 days after that ONE dose.

Yes, keep on rubbing till the 1/2 tsp gets absorbed.

So baby has spit up once and has less silent reflux.. please indicate next stage.

Was wondering if I should give him lactase drops and probiotic?

So, the reflux has reduced ? How often was it happening before and how often is it happening now? How is swelling around eyes?

sameervermani 6 years ago
He used to spit up and reflux almost every feeding. Now he spits up once or twice every other day. And reflux once or twice a day. For the past 3 days his appetite for formula has decreased (he is teething) and this morning he vomited 2oz of milk while getting burped. There has been no improvement on the swelling and dark circles around the eyes.

His reflux and spit ups were less for a Week, but since yesterday it went back to the same as before. He gets reflux and spit ups with every meal.he also vomited yesterday morning about 2oz. He also has lost his aptite, drinks a couple of oz of milk and then doesn't want anymore. Swelling under eye and dark circles never disappeared. Please let me know what to do.
