9 month old has chronic constipation

Hi,
My 9 month old son has chronic constipation. He tries a lot to push but still he does not poop. His poop is very hard, dry and black. He is on formula milk, the doctor says it is due to formula, I have reduced the amount of formula and replaced his meals with fruits and vegetables which does not help though.
I have given him Nux vomica once a day for 3 days, initially it seemed to help him but the constipation was back. I have him on Bryonia since 2 days but no results. Please suggest something to relieve of this.

Thanks,
Sushmita.
