ConstipationI am 75 year old. I have had constipation problem since the age of 30 but somehow I have managed to have evacuation through taking high fiber diets with 4 - 6 glasses of water before breakfast. I have enlarged BPH benign prostrate for more than 5 years. Initially I was taking Sabal Serrulata first in the form of mother tincture and then in the form of capsule. I then stopped after improvement in symptoms. Recently, I developed urine incontinence and following ultrasound enlarged prostrate was diagnosed. I consulted a urologist who prescribed Proscar [Finasteride] plus tamsolin [Tamsulosin HCL] which I have been taking for past 4 - 5 months. However, I have not developed severe constipation and despite my high fiber diet with 4 to 6 glasses of water early in the morning, I am having problem of evacuating and have dry hard stool and frequently have to take one sachet of Movecol, or 3 table spoons of laxatives like Lactulose or Phillips Milk of magnesia [usually once or twice a week.
Earlier, I was taking one Sofvasc 5 mg but as this aggravated my constipation, on doctor's advice, I changed it to easy day 50 mg. I was also taking one 75 mg aspirin blood thinner. However, after I started proscar, my blood pressure was reduced from 150 - 160 to 140 + 70 and I stopped taking Easy day. For past several yars, I have also been taking Aspirin 75 mg, plus multivitamin Polybion Z, OMCD [Calcium} plus US made Joint Ace for my knee problem which has been greatly alleviated.
I would highly appreciate if you will suggest tests for further evaluation and homeopathic remedies for my constipation, BPH prostrate. Would it be possible for you to send me an alert of your response or your wuggested remedies / prescription on my email.
