Homeopathic remedy effects?
Hello all,I took a dose of Calcarea Carbonica last night as recommended. This morning I woke up with my body covered with sweat a lot of it, especially around my neck, chest and belly. This has NEVER happened to me before.
What I would like to know is that is this the effect of the homeopathic remedy? And is it a good/bad sign?

Increased local and general perspiration is charateristics of CALC CARB

If these symptoms pass away on their own, you are lucky.
This medicine has some effect on you, and it will do all the good it can, provided you don't spoil its action by repeating it.
Stay away from taking any further doses/any other medicine for atleast a week.

Thank you for replying, Hisam and Murthy.
Ok Murthy, I wont take any further doses for at least a week. But can I ask what mean by being lucky if the symptoms pass away on their own?

Some times, a partially indicated remedy grafts its own symptoms, and it may be difficult to get rid of them easily.
It won't happen in many cases, and most of the people manage to get rid of them quickly, by just waiting.
But, there are certain sensitive people, in whom these symptoms linger on for months, and for such cases an expert intervention is required.
I don't intend to scare you; you may be o.k. in the next couple of hours.
Just wait it out.

Murthy,
So do you think this is not the remedy for me as you say it is 'partially indicated'?
Thanks!

So is this a partially indicated remedy for me as I experienced increased perspiration?

Yes. It is a partially indicated remedy for you.
However as I said earlier if the new symptoms resolve on their own, in a few days, you don't have to worry, and the medicine being atleast partially indicated, will do all the good it can, provided you don't repeat it.
Calc.carb acts for a few weeks, and you should not disturb its action to get its full benefit.
It is very rare that a prescriber zeroes in on the similimum the first time itself. Most of the times, the starting will be partially indicated remedies only.
But the wise prescriber, recognises this and stops repeating it, and looks for another appropriate medicine in the next consultation, after a few weeks.

For dry Eczema the remedy is - Rhus Tox 200 (once a week) for few weeks and later Rhus Tox 1M once in a month.
Symptoms for Rhus Tox are as under :-
Skin.--Red, swollen; itching intense. Vesicles, herpes; urticaria; pemphigus; erysipelas; vesicular suppurative forms. Glands swollen. Cellulitis. Burning eczematous eruptions with tendency to scale formation.
However, let Mr. Murthy examine as he advised you earlier Calc. carb. This could be your constitutional remedy.
Symptoms for Calc. Carb are as under :-
Skin.--Unhealthy; readily ulcerating; flaccid. Small wounds do not heal readily. Glands swollen. Nettle rash; better in cold air. Warts on face and hands. Petechial eruptions. Chilblains. Boils.
You may study both and compare what suits you better.

Rajendra - Thanks for your advice, but I do not think Rhus Tox is for me. And Murthy did not prescribe the Calc Carb, it was my homeopath. I was just curious as to the effects it has had on me. But your help is much appreciated. Again, thank you.
Murthy - I have been advised to take only one dose of the Calc Carb 200c until my next consultation with my homeopath - in a weeks time. But currently, I seem to be experiencing an aggravation - my eczema has suddenly worsened. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

Your homeopath seems to be a good prescriber. Wait for a week, and let him assess the situation.
The 4 th edition prescribers, who give a single dose and ask you to wait do expect these aggravations.
He is the best man to guide you further.

This is what Dr. W Boeriche says about Rhus Tox:-
'Skin.--Red, swollen; itching intense. Vesicles, herpes; urticaria; pemphigus; erysipelas; vesicular suppurative forms. Glands swollen. Cellulitis. Burning eczematous eruptions with tendency to scale formation'
Any way I believe you have studied Homeo. I am keenly inerested as to why Rhus Tox will not suit you.
Thanks, for your knowledgable information.

Rajendra,
I might have replied too hastily about Rhus Tox. I have read about it, and it possibly could help me.
However, what is the normal course of treatment for a case of eczema? Is it the use of constitutional remedies? Or is it the use of other remedies (such as Rhus Tox), which is known for treating skin problems? Obviously the remedy (whatever it may be - contitutional or not) should match the totality of symptoms.
All homeopaths - feel free to add your comments to the thread.
Thanks.
