insomnia

I have a question, any help would be greatly appreciated. I have had insomnia on a low level for the past 4 years, averaging about 4 hours of sleep a day. This past year however, about every month I have a weeklong stretch where i get an hour or less(more frequntley none) this hasn't botherd me until this past august, which is the last time I slept for more than 3 hours any given day. (and this past month I've slept an hour or less each day) Most ailments I have had are usually remedied by changing my diet, however having been almost vegan for the past year (my only weakness is cheese) and strict vegetarian for the past three,i dont think i can change that much more. i was advised not to take melatonin, 1 because of my age (19) and 2 because my family has a history of depression. I wont take anything manmade or chemical (nyquil, tylenol pm, etc..) i am a sophmore in college and this is really starting to kill my grades and personality. again, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Arnica Montana 30 is useful to promote deep sleep. Suggest you use the minimum dose just before you go to bed.

Do you make sure you get enough minerals? Calcium/magnesium/potassium are important for sleep - as well as vitamins, especially B vitamins for vegetarians? I suggest a daily vitamin in addition to colloidal minerals (they are negatively charged and adhere to the intestinal walls.)

And: take it easy with your diet. Deliberately depriving yourself of something you desperately need because of a philosophy may harm your body.
