Hi Sameer.

Firstly, my apologies for not updating you on my case. I decided to hold off taking the 1M, as I felt a little bit anxious about possible aggravations while I was in the middle of a very busy and hectic time in my life. Then, once that time had passed, I found myself plagued with cold after cold, and held off further.

I would like to resume treatment now, but given it has been three months since we last discussed this, I thought it was best that I update you with my current situation to be sure that lachesis 1M is still the right thing to take.

My itching has continued to exist, but only as a very minor problem these days. Usually it is worse in winter, so I am quite pleased that it has not been so bad this time.

My mood has also remained reasonably good. Not too much change either positive or negative this past three months. On the whole, I feel more stable, stronger and confident in myself than I have ever felt before. My coping mechanisms seem a lot better than usual.

However, I have had three viruses/colds in the past two months. I feel very let down by my body at the moment. I have always prided myself on being quite robust and strong and have never really had too many colds or flus. These colds have really made me suffer with very blocked nose and sinuses, lots and lots of mucus in the back of nose and throat, and for two of the colds I have had an irritated cough. I have also had conjunctivitis. I treated it and it came back a week later. And then again, a week after that. It was really hard to shake and was alternating from one eye to the other. It seems to have gone now, but I am still getting the occasional wet or sticky discharge from one eye every few days.

At present I have a lot of mucus in my nose and throat, a cough which is sometimes wet and sometimes dry, but I do not feel unwell.

I had to use my asthma inhaler (ventolin) 2 days ago because I was wheezy from coughing and my chest felt very tight. This is the first time I have had to use ventolin in probably 4 years.

I continue to have a healthy diet, high in vitamin C and antioxidants. I don't eat a lot of wheat or dairy.

My lips have been continually dry and sore for several months now. I can't remember when it started exactly. I use cream (all natural) on them constantly, but it never seems to help for long. They sometimes look a bit red and chapped, but mostly you can't tell.

I frequently have a low at around 6pm, where I could easily fall asleep.

I have had some dental work done recently, and am due for a fair bit more over the coming 2 months, so I hope it won't interfere with anything. I have some stress fractures in my teeth from clenching my jaw, and some untreated decay that needs filling. My dentist usually gives local anaesthetic.

Generally I take very little medications and over the counter drugs, however I am currently taking some health supplements (fish oil and multi vitamins and minerals) to try and boost my immune system). I have been to the doctor recently and all is well. My blood pressure is always excellent.

Please advise me what I should do, and if you think any of this new information changes your views or will affect our course of treatment.

Thank you, as always, for your time and consideration.

The disease is moving from mental-->physical which is the perfect response, and you will get complete cure, but it takes time (and doses) to restore order in the economy of a human being.

Had you updated me during these acute episodes which was the body's way to throw things (suppression layers) on to the surface, we would have tackled them homeopathically, and they would be gone for life.

So, do you think this mucus and cough is bothering you now ?

sameervermani last decade
You know, life was so busy that it only occurred to me a few weeks ago that perhaps all the colds had something to do with the treatment. I'm sorry I didn't contact you. My first priority is always with my son and I just always think I'm going to be ok eventually and worry about myself last. Silly me!

Yes the mucus and cough is still bothering me, but nowhere near as much as last week. As I said, the cough is sometimes wet, sometimes dry - I can't quite pinpoint the cause of the change. It often takes me by surprise, like a tickle in the throat.

littlefinn last decade
Okay, and any other things about the cough which affect it. Aggravating things, aggravation times ? What ameliorates it ?

e.g. effect of the following ?

Lying down, sitting, uncovering, wrapping up, motion, exertion , drinking, eating, warmth, cold...

sameervermani last decade
On the whole, I am feeling a lot better today - not coughing as much amd my nose is not as blocked.

There honestly does not appear to be a specific aggravation, however each night I have woken coughing at some point in the middle of the night. A drink of water helps ameliorate.

The congestion comes and goes. Moving positions helps, as does activity/exercise.

Congestion and mucus is much worse in the morning after rising.

During the night, while sleeping, the congestion eases.

Okay, so Lachesis is still indicated but I want to get this cough and mucus dealt with first.

Please take 3 doses of Hepar Sulphuris Calcareum 6c, and report in 3 days. Each dose is 1 teaspoon.

Well that's good. Thank you. Ok, well, unfortunately I don't think there is any way I can get to the dispensary until the weekend. If I have the opportunity I will, but if I can't get there until the weekend, and my symptoms continue to subside, should I still take it?

littlefinn last decade
you can update me before taking it.

Hi Sameer. I got the hep sulph today, but my symptoms are pretty much gone. I can still feel some mucus at the back of my throat, but my nasal congestion has died down almost completely and I'm not really coughing anymore either. Still worth taking or should I go for the lachesis 1M instead?

littlefinn last decade
Hmm.. wait for 3 more days and report back. Let us see if this completely clears up.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, will do. Thanks. :)

Hi Sameer. It's been 3 days and my cough has gone. My nose had gone back to normal too, but this morning I have woken up blocked once again, probably due to the minimal amount of sleep I had last night. I also woke with my right eye wet and sticky again - haven't had that for a few weeks now. These things seem to be happening every time I get run down. It does not feel like congestion associated with a cold or virus, more like that aggravated reaction kind of congestion that I have come to know more recently. What do you think I should do next?

littlefinn last decade
Please describe the eye symptoms in detail.

Discharge is only in morning ? What colour ? Eye lid sticks in the morning ?

What improves/what aggravates ? Any other patterns ?

sameervermani last decade
Well I expect it is left over from the conjunctivitis I had last month. It took me quite a long time to get rid of and it kept coming back. After I finally got rid of, I noticed that my eyes (one or both) were wet and sticky most mornings for a couple of weeks. Haven't had it for a while now, until this morning.

So I will describe in general what this was like both then and now.

The discharge was only in the morning. I woke with one or both eyes (this morning right eye only) sticky in the corner with dried crusty discharge, yellow in colour. Felt a bit wet when I woke. Must have come on in the early hours (4 or 5am). It's only in the corner, so eyelid isn't stuck together, but it definitely needs wiping.

It is often combined with a slightly cloudy feeling in the eye, as if something were partially covering my eyeball and I need to blink to get rid of it. This is also what conjunctivitis can feel like when it first comes on.

No particular aggravation or amelioration. It goes away once I wake up.

This morning it was possibly aggravated due to lack of sleep or broken sleep which is why it reappeared.

And the nose obstruction, how is that related to the time of the day ? Or anything else that you noticed ? Any other odd unrelated symptom ?

sameervermani last decade
I notice it is always worse in the morning after a bad night's sleep. It's gone now and it's midday. It also goes away if I go outside. I can rarely blow anything out of it. This has been something I've experienced on and off ever since I fell pregnant with my son and it definitely seemed less frequent for some time after the lachesis.

The only other symptom that may or may not be related is my lips. They are still so sore. They've been like this for a few months now. Just sore and burning and dry all the time. I have to apply cream constantly. They often look red and swollen, particularly around the edges.

Okay so the symptoms are :

Nose; congestion chronic
Nose; obstruction open air ameliorates
Eyes; discharge yellow
Eyes; discharge morning
Lips; discoloration red

Now if you can please confirm if the lower lip is the one which is more red ?

sameervermani last decade
Lips - I would say they are about the same.

I'm not sure I would describe the congestion as chronic. It's more like I have acute periodic episodes.

littlefinn last decade
What about

Lips; dry and burning

littlefinn last decade
Top lip is actually a bit redder.

littlefinn last decade
Nose; congestion morning agg.
Nose; obstruction open air ameliorates
Eyes; discharge yellow
Eyes; discharge morning
Lips; discoloration red
Lips; dry and burning

Please take Sulphur 6c, 3 doses from a 250 ml bottle where 2 pellets have been dissolved.

Ok, will do, thanks.

I'm a terrible patient and I am really sorry. I haven't taken this yet. I was so busy with my son being sick and then packing for our holiday that I just forgot about it. Now I am settled and can take it, however I wanted to discuss my current state with you as it has changed since arriving in a new place where we are staying with family.

Where we are is close to the sea and at sea level. Where we live is inland at 2000 feet, so very different environment. A few hours after arriving yesterday I suffered very sore, itchy eyes, then I got a lump on my upper lip and a headache along the back of my skull. Those symptoms last about 2 hours and then disappeared, leaving me with a very congested nose. This is an allergic reaction, I'm sure. I often get allergies here, usually from the damp. Mould has always been my biggest allergen. So my nose is running a bit too, but when I blow it, nothing comes out. I will pay attention over the next 24 hours to see what the modalities are, but at this stage I'm not entirely sure.

What do you think I should do?

littlefinn last decade
Aggravation from wet weather is covered very well by Sulphur, go ahead with the doses.

It is just being used as a transitional remedy as the psoric symptoms are showing their head.

sameervermani last decade
Hi Sameer,

It's been 4 days since I took the sulphur doses. I can't say I've really noticed any changes to my overall condition. Nasal congestion is as annoying as ever and still coming and going without rhyme or reason. Lips still dry, but not as sore or red (I have changed the cream that I'm applying, hoping that it might make a difference, so that might have something to do with it). Haven't noticed the wet, crusty eye thing for the past two mornings, but I would need more time to be sure that has changed.

One thing I did find unusual is that yesterday (thursday), I was in an unusually bad mood. I felt very irritable, irrational, frustrated and close to tears. Admittedly, I was tired and my son was driving me somewhat insane, but that mood seemed over the top and unwarranted, and is not a mood I have experienced for quite some time - probably since before I took the lachesis 200c.
