Uncomfortable bloating. Please help!

Hi. I'm new here. Hope you can help me with my problem.

I am female, 49, 5'7 and 190 lbs. For the last four days, I've had very pronounced bloating of my stomach. It's hard and feels like there is a lot of trapped gas. I look seven months pregnant. I don't believe I'm constipated.

Nothing is helping. I tried ultra strength gas-x, charcoal tablets, carb veg. and lyc. Today, I drank prune juice. Just in case I don't know I'm constipated... It loosened the bowels, but even after going to the bathroom, there was no relief.

I feel almost constant pressure and pain in the bottom of my abdomen, on the top and all over. I just started hearing some 'gurgling' noises today. My stomach is uncomfortable when I sit, stand or walk.

I get no exercise really. Sit at a desk all day. I've always reacted to stress through my stomach, and things have been pretty stressful at work lately, though i consider myself very mellow and easy going.

My stomach has been pretty large for the last 10 years, but nothing like this. Also, I've noticed for years that even if I eat just a little amount, I feel full. Now it's even worse with the horrible bloating. I just don't feel like eating.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for responding so quickly! I greatly appreciate it. I saw your reply after I had my morning cup of coffee, but went to the store and bought the Nux Vomica and the Nat Sulph.

I tried the breathing this morning, and took the Nux Vom three times today.

I will follow your instructions, but when do you think I should see a change? I'm wondering if i should go to a doctor. This is very odd for me.

The nux vom says it is to relieve overeating, but I really don't eat much, because I feel full and uncomfortable after a very small meal. This has been going on for years.

Thank you again for taking the time to care.

Sex: F

Age: 49

Please answer the following questions in a descriptive manner after careful analysis and recollection of previous experiences and happenings.

1. Describe your main suffering? Distended abdomen, bloating, associated pain that feels pressure related, not cramping. May be trapped gas, or blockage, but bathroom habits okay. Feeling of uncomfortable fullness very soon after I eat - as if food has nowhere to go. By the end of each day, I feel even more bloated. Stomach is big and hard.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body? Overweight. Sometimes retain water, but drink about 60-100 oz. per day.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings? Unhappy that I am larger. Some concern that this might be something serious as there has been little change over last six days

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Uncomfortable largeness due to hard, bloated belly which seems to grow bigger toward the end of each day. There is some pain, but not excruciating.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease? My abdomen has been somewhat large for several years. The feeling of fullness very soon after eating has also been something that has been happening for several years. This particular episode with the bloating started six days ago. Had bouts of loose bowels on and off for a few weeks before that.

6. Which time of the day you are worst? At the end of the day. I sit at a desk all day. Some walking, but otherwise, no exercise.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? The condition appears to be the same state no matter what I do - it is persistently the same since it started. Nothing necessarily aggravates and makes it worse. Nothing really ameliorates it either.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)? I am likely going through menopause. Changes in frequency of menses over last several months. Historically, my body seems to cope with stress through my gastrointestinal system.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather? Not sure. Only started this week and it has been warm and dry then mild and wet.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc. Mild, agreeable, changeable, sensitive, sometimes moody.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm? Calm. I love thunderstorms.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times? Yes. However, usually have to stand and be strong on my own.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? Yes.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless weeping, talking to one self etc? Not especially.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife? Cherish my friends, close with family, adore my children, who are lovely young adults. Of course, I worry quite a bit as single parent (no husband - divorced).

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly? Concerns for/about my children. Financial stability.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions? Mostly crave carbs, but try to limit them. Not necessarily sweets.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive? Normal

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive? Less

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand? I don't know.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs? Normal

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type? Regular. Soft/loose.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping? I sleep well. Usually a stomach or side sleeper, but find sleeping on my back to be more comfortable right now, because of pain when on side or stomach.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? Yes.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all? Others seem to know how to be upbeat all the time. It's an admirable trait. I am too sensitive sometimes. If I'm upset, it shows. If I'm happy, it shows.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication? For this, I started with Gas-X, then charcoal tablets, then carb veg, then lyc. then prune juice.

22. What major diseases are running in your family? Parkinson's, cancer, diabetes

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance : 5'7. 190lbs. Larger stomach area, but carry weight all over.

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)

If you are not having normal menstrual cycles, please answer the following questions:

- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last? Lately they have been more frequent.
- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods? Yes. Bloating before. Cramps throughout.
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive? Varies. Sometimes very light. Sometimes excessive.

It is natrum sulphuricum.

Please report your symptoms after 12 hours from taking the last dose of nux vomica.

Thank you for all of your help.

I took the nux vomica yesterday. Today,, no change. felt the same.

This morning, I had the aloe juice with hot water, did the breathing and started with first dose of Natrum Sulph. I'm trying to rest a lot today.

mari_ny last decade
May i know in how many doses and in what potency you have taken lyc and carbo veg.

kadwa last decade
30c 3x day

Tried only for a day or two.

(I read through more of these threads yesterday, and learned that you are not supposed to take two different remedies concurrently. I did with carbo veg and lyc, but alternated throughout day.)

Today is my second day of the Nat sulph, and I think things may be getting a little better. Based on your questionnaire, I'm paying closer attention to what is going on. Definitely feel better in the a.m.

Hello, kadwa.

I did a bad thing. Once I started feeling better and was no longer focused on the urgent discomfort of my condition, I quickly got caught up in my regular routine again and stopped taking the Nat Sulph completely just a few days after my last post. Went down to 2x then 1x a day and then completely off. It did provide good relief within the first 48 hours and I know I should have stayed on it to complete the course you prescribe. But I did not.

The initial week thereafter was fine. This has been a stressful week and, once again, I am feeling it in my stomach. Not oversize, intractable bloating yet, but gassiness and some bloating.

Anything I can do now?

Also, even though I would never guess that I am influenced by stress, my body clearly shows that I am. Is there something that would help me better cope with the daily stress? I should do the breathing every day - that stopped, too, but I enjoyed it when I made time for it.

Thank you.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

The kali phos and natrum sulph are tiny pellets. When you say tablets, I think of something a little larger, like an over-the-counter pain reliever. If that's the case, not sure if I will be able to find those two items as 'tablets.'

In any case, should I take the 2 tablets each of Kali Phos and natrum sulph at the same time?
